Chapter 325 The Theory Behind Brain Cells
Jonathan tensed up when Mabel wrapped her arm around his. A strange, inexplicable sensation rose in
his heart almost instantly.
He felt ashamed of himself for having such dirty thoughts when he saw how calm Mabel was.
I can't believe I nearly corrupted our innocent friendship with those dirty thoughts of mine!
The climate in Thymion was that of a typical tropical rainforest. The country used to be named Zedfield
at first, but eventually became Thymion after many years of development. Even so, it was still ruled by
a king, who held ultimate power over the country.
Mapleton of Thymion was popularly known as a city that floated on water due to the Royalty River
which ran through Mapleton, splitting the city into two parts before flowing into the Gulf of Thymion.
Jonathan was greeted by a completely foreign culture the moment he stepped out of Mapleton
International Airport.
While most people would think of transgender individuals upon hearing about Thymion, the country
was actually rather conservative with ninety percent of its citizens being religious people.
After getting into a cab, Jonathan and Mabel used very basic Ustranasian to tell the driver they were
heading to Sunlight City Hotel.
The driver then drove them straight to their destination after understanding their request.
As a safety precaution, Jonathan and Mabel avoided mentioning any major events and key details
while chatting in the car. They merely discussed some trivial matters regarding their country.
Jonathan saw a huge, majestic palace and lots of temples along the way.
It looks like Thymion truly is a country of religion...
As the cab passed by Royalty River, Jonathan saw a marketplace above it with lots of stalls. There
were also vendors selling their wares on boats floating along the river.
Jonathan noticed a lot of Chanaean tourists taking pictures and enjoying themselves in the area.
Royalty River was truly a location that many found themselves attracted to. Had Jonathan not been
tasked with a mission, he would have explored the place with Mabel.
Traffic in Mapleton was congested as always, so it took them about half an hour just to arrive at
Sunlight City Hotel.
The hotel lobby was incredibly spacious and had a red carpet down the middle.
They were greeted by hotel staff dressed in traditional gowns upon stepping through the front door.
About five minutes later, Jonathan and Mabel arrived outside the door of the suite they booked with the
keycard in hand.
As the two of them were pretending to be a married couple, it was only natural that they booked a
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtdouble room instead of two single rooms.
After entering the room, they carefully examined every corner for hidden cameras and listening
devices.
As they had lots of experience in anti-surveillance, it didn't take long for them to confirm that the room
was clean.
Since they had maintained a low profile during their trip, it was highly unlikely that anyone would know
they were in Thymion.
On top of that, it was possible that the people in Thymion did not know about Jonathan and Mabel, so
they wouldn't be expecting anyone to come and rescue the cacodemon.
Even so, Jonathan and Mabel had to be extra careful as their lives were at stake.
“Mabel, have your men found out about the cacodemon's current situation?” Jonathan asked after
confirming that their room wasn't bugged.
Mabel shook her head as she replied, “The cacodemon is being imprisoned within Celestial Sky Sect,
so my men can't even get close. Galad has force fields planted within a ten-mile radius of Celestial Sky
Sect, so he'll pick up every single movement within that area.”
“A ten-mile radius? Is he really that powerful?” Jonathan exclaimed in shock.
“Galad has a powerful ability known as 'Heavenly Ear.' Legend has it that all Divine Masters like Divine
Emperor have that ability. Now, you might be wondering what that ability does. Well, it basically allows
them to hear anything and everything in every world and plane of existence. That's why it's called
'Heavenly Ear.' Galad has it too, but he can only listen up to a radius of ten miles,” Mabel explained.
She then paused briefly before continuing, “Barsm also has an ability known as 'Heavenly Eye,' which
allows them to see anything and everything in every world and plane of existence. Of course, these are
all just rumors that I've heard. I am unable to confirm if Galad's force fields are due to him possessing
Heavenly Ear.”
Jonathan couldn't care less about that as he knew he had absolutely no way to determine if the
cacodemon was still alive.
They were both well aware of the possibility that the cacodemon might already be dead.
Even so, they had to take that risk because there was a slim chance that the cacodemon was still alive.
In theory, what Jonathan and Mabel were doing was extremely foolish and impractical. They knew full
well that it was an impossible mission and that the cacodemon was fated to absorb demonic energy,
which meant it could potentially become a threat to all of Thymion. Despite so, Jonathan and Mabel
were still determined to carry out that rescue mission without an ounce of hesitation.
After all, there would always be things that one couldn't avoid doing in life.
“I think the cacodemon is safe for now,” Mabel said all of a sudden.
“What makes you say that?” Jonathan asked in surprise.
“The cacodemon was fated to be born into this world. You, me, Jeff, and those from Daphunova Temple
have tried to kill it, but it managed to survive anyway. I can't help but be impressed by how miraculous
fate is,” Mabel replied. She then continued after a brief pause, “They say the cacodemon is fated to
bring death to all life, but you've seen how innocent and pure it actually is. It doesn't intend to do such a
horrible thing at all. However, I am worried about one thing in particular.”
“What is it?” Jonathan pressed on.
“The people of Celestial Sky Sect have been trying to kill the cacodemon. They were very cruel to it, so
I fear that may breed hatred in the cacodemon and turn it into a murderous creature. If that were the
case, then the Celestial Sky Sect would be the one to blame for it all. I don't know about you, but that
doesn't exactly sound like fun to me.”
Jonathan froze when he heard that. What she said does make perfect sense. Given the circumstances,
such a scenario is entirely possible!
Having realized how mankind could very well seal its own fate, Jonathan gasped in shock and said,
“Does that mean the cacodemon would be fine even if we don't act?”
“That might be true, but we never know how things will turn out in this world. There's no way to tell how
our actions will affect the future. If we take action, we might be able to save the cacodemon and end up
causing the destruction of the world. If we do nothing, the cacodemon might just die here, and that
would be the end of it. Since we don't know what will happen for sure, we can only do what we believe
is right,” Mabel replied.
“Yeah, I suppose you're right.” Jonathan paused for a moment before continuing, “Every second we
spend waiting will only place the cacodemon's life in more danger. We should hurry up and find Galad's
daughter.”
“It's Saturday, so we won't be able to do anything as Galad's daughter will be staying inside Celestial
Sky Sect. She will be returning to the university tomorrow night.”
The longer we wait, the more danger the cacodemon will be in!
Jonathan was starting to grow anxious at the thought of that, but he knew he needed to be patient.
After all, rushing things would only reduce their chances of rescuing the cacodemon.
“What's the name of Galad's daughter?” Jonathan asked.
“Her name is Vananeru Methendriel,” Mabel replied.
“If Galad cares so much about his daughter, then he should have skilled bodyguards protecting her. Am
I right?” Jonathan asked.
“In theory, that would be the case. However, Galad didn't actually have anyone protecting his daughter.
He is the most powerful fighter in Thymion, so no one would dare mess with him and his daughter. It's
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmalso possible that Vananeru wanted to enjoy life like a normal person without all those restrictions on
her freedom,” Mabel replied.
“Maybe she has some kind of secret item that could ensure her safety,” Jonathan suggested.
Mabel nodded. “Of course, that is also a possibility that we must consider. Therefore, we'll have to be
extra careful to not give her the chance to use it.”
Jonathan frowned. “Can you get me some weapons? I could use a sharp military-grade knife and
something like those mercury bullets you gave me a while back.”
“No problem,” Mabel reassured him.
Jonathan breathed a sigh of relief when he heard that. His previous encounters with magical weapons
and special techniques like spiritual attacks had left him feeling rather helpless.
He believed that having some guns and knives would help level the playing field with those who used
magical weapons.
After all, Jonathan was extremely skilled in the usage of firearms.
On top of that, guns would allow him to engage his enemies while staying out of range of their spiritual
wave attacks.
After giving her subordinates a call to have them prepare the weapons that Jonathan requested, Mabel
told him, “Mapleton is different from Chanaea, so you must keep the weapons hidden. You could get in
serious trouble if anyone finds out that you're armed.”
“Oh, you don't have to worry about that. The police won't be able to stop me from leaving if I so much
as feel like it,” Jonathan said confidently.
Mabel paused for a few seconds before nodding in agreement. “Fair enough. My subordinates will
bring the stuff over shortly. I'll go ahead and fuse the thirty-six Golden Divine Beads to increase our
chances of success tomorrow.”
Jonathan nodded. “All right.”
Mabel then sat down on the couch and opened the brocade box.
All thirty-six of the Golden Divine Beads were lying neatly inside the box. Each of those Golden Divine
Beads contained spiritual energy and the power of Hayden's faith. As Jeff had already purged the
Golden Divine Beads of Hayden's remaining spirit, all that remained was pure energy.
Mabel channeled the pure, dark energy within her and fused her mana with the Golden Divine Beads.
After that, she pushed it deeper into the core of the Golden Divine Beads, causing the mana from the
beads to become one with her own.
Her brain cells within her Braincore had reached billions in level, and she had developed a thousand of
them.
Although they were not pushed to their limits, the mana that they contained was fairly strong.
After all, she couldn't possibly infuse every single brain cell with nutrients.
It wouldn't make much of a difference if one were to pour a glass of hot water into a lake, but it would
be a whole different story if one poured it into a bigger glass.
That was the theory behind developing one's brain cells.
