Chapter 442 Demon Dragon Palace
Jonathan gave it a thought and decided it was reasonable.
The snowy tundra was desolate and void of any human presence. Torrence had appeared out of nowhere the last
time, and now, Moose and his group were pursuing a traitor. This could only mean that they were after Torrence.
Jonathan was well aware that Torrence was no nasty character since the latter had the heart to save him and
Yeverie. However, he found it strange as to why Torrence would betray the sect.
Jonathan did not hesitate to voice his confusion. “Why did Sir Torrence betray the sect?”
Letting out a cold snort, Skylar answered, “He's ungrateful and evil. He deserves to die for daring to doubt the
authority of Theos!”
Moose, on the other hand, appeared to be calmer than Skylar. With a pained expression, he lamented, “No one
expected Torrence to renounce the sect and leave. We're still investigating the reason behind his decision, but the
thing is, he stole our sacred relic. That is something absolutely intolerable.”
“Sacred relic? What is it?” Jonathan queried.
“The Auropurple Crown. It is a consecrated item of Theos and also the crown that represents her authority, and it
used to be stored in the Holy Church before this happened. The crown was taken away by Torrence, so we have to
capture him and retrieve it.”
It was then that Jonathan and Yeverie somehow grasped what was going on.
Torrence had betrayed Supreme Sect, stolen the Auropurple Crown, and escaped all the way to the snowy tundra
where outlaws were sent for exile.
The snowy tundra also housed Demon Abyss, where Demon Dragon was locked up.
It seemed that Torrence was heading for Demon Abyss.
The Auropurple Crown and Demon Dragon?
The quick-witted Jonathan immediately connected the dots.
However, this was a matter way too complicated, and he was sure it involved an exciting story.
Jonathan did not probe further, and the group went on with their journey.
They didn't find anything even after a whole day of trekking.
When darkness fell, everyone set up tents to settle in for the night.
Jonathan, Yeverie, Moose, Skylar, and Ducson had dinner together in the main tent.
As Skylar took a liking in Yeverie, he tried to get on her good side, but his advances often looked silly due to his
naturally cold demeanor. Yeverie barely paid him attention.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtShe wasn't about to be charmed by Skylar's slick looks; she preferred wise men like Jonathan.
During dinner, Ducson mentioned, “Mr. Moose, Lord Janley, we're entering Demon Abyss tomorrow. Could that
traitor really have gone there?”
Jonathan and Yeverie stayed silent as they watched Moose's face darken.
Suddenly, the latter took out the Crystal Ball and stroked it lightly.
Something began to stir in it, and the next moment, it displayed a snowy scene.
Torrence was there, braving the snow in a silver outfit.
Jonathan couldn't help exclaiming in awe, “Mr. Moose, this is incredible! How did you do that?
Moose was especially polite toward Jonathan. He glanced at the latter and explained, “Torrence has the Auropurple
Crown with him, and the crown contains marks of light elements left by Theos. Those are marks Torrence cannot
possibly remove. This Crystal Ball has the same marks, so I established a connection between the two items to see
Torrence.”
Nodding, Jonathan remarked, “You mentioned before that you're depending on the Holy Scripture to track Torrence
down, but it turns out you have a better tool here.”
“It's not like that. The cipher in the Holy Scripture can tell us Torrence's location and the direction he is heading,
while this Crystal Ball can only capture his image when he is located within the twenty-five-kilometer radius. This
means we're getting close to Torrence.”
Hearing that, Jonathan felt his heart skip. Moose couldn't have seen my encounter with Torrence through the
Crystal Ball, could he?
Immediately, he denied the possibility.
When he met Moose earlier, the latter had not exhibited any unusual reaction.
From that alone, Jonathan was certain that Moose did not see him and Torrence together.
“I'm guessing you can't watch him through this Crystal Ball all the time, right?” he confirmed.
Moose nodded. “I can only do that once a day, and for no longer than one minute.”
That enlightened Jonathan.
Meanwhile, Yeverie stared at the imagery in the Crystal Ball attentively, utterly fascinated by it.
Jonathan actually found it quite interesting, too. An ill-intentioned person could easily use it to peek at a lady in her
bathroom.
Right when that thought crossed his mind, he cursed internally and scolded himself.
Can you get yourself together? How could you think of that in this situation?
At that moment, something happened in the image being shown in the Crystal Ball.
The ground beneath Torrence collapsed all of a sudden, and a large expanse of snow began sinking like quicksand.
Torrence plummeted and fell through the air for five seconds before slamming against the ground along a thick
layer of snow.
The scenery in the Crystal Ball followed Torrence closely as if it were a three-hundred-sixty-degree camera.
Torrence had landed in an underground palace.
It was a massive place fully carved out of millennium-old ice, twinkling with pellucidity. Countless ice pillars
supporting the structure stood in the distance.
When Torrence looked up, he noticed he was thirty meters underground.
He was right in the middle of a hall, and an elevated throne could be seen at the far end.
Everything looked as smooth as crystal.
At that juncture, Torrence's image in the Crystal Ball faded away.
The one minute was up.
“That was Demon Abyss. He's in Demon Dragon Palace!” Moose shot up from his seat, shock painting his face.
“That traitor actually managed to reach Demon Dragon Palace!”
Skylar and Ducson instantly realized the severity of the situation.
“Mr. Moose, what should we do?” Skylar consulted.
“Let's set off right away and head for Demon Dragon Palace. We can't let Torrence and Demon Dragon reach an
agreement!”
Skylar hurriedly turned to Ducson and instructed, “Relay the orders.”
Recognizing the gravity of the matter, Ducson agreed right away without any objections.
Jonathan exchanged glances with Yeverie. At the sight of her anxious expression, he squeezed her hand in
reassurance.
He knew that things were escalating and getting complicated, and no one could predict what would happen.
Moose and his companions initially had a good chance at capturing Torrence, but now that the latter arrived at
Demon Dragon Palace in advance, what would come next was unforeseeable.
Jonathan was also aware that he and Yeverie had gotten themselves into trouble they could no longer evade.
Ten minutes later, the group departed.
“I've noted the spot that collapsed. It's fifteen kilometers away from here,” Moose said.
“Are we also going to barge into Demon Dragon Palace just like that?” Skylar asked.
“Of course. Torrence is already in there. We have no other choice!” After saying that, Moose continued, “It'll take
too long to walk there. I'm going to cast the Acceleration Magic to speed us up. Skylar, carry me on your back.
Everyone, pick up your pace.”
Skylar nodded in response. The truth was, they were being dragged down by Moose.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmSkylar and the others were Golden Knights bestowed with divine energy, so they could travel fast. On the other
hand, Moose was a Magician.
People who played e-sports would know that while magicians were very useful, they were extremely fragile.
Once they were approached by a warrior, they would be hacked to pieces.
Because of his weak physique, Moose could not walk quickly.
Still, they couldn't just let someone carry him all the time since they had to consider the old man's pride.
Moose's presence was crucial to the pursuit of Torrence.
Without him, they wouldn't even be able to come close to Torrence.
Moreover, it would be effective to have Moose hide behind the fighters and cast his magic in a battle.
Even in e-sports, the participation of a capable magician could be the key to wiping out the enemies.
When Jonathan heard that Moose was going to cast the Acceleration Magic, he was curious as to what the latter
was talking about.
Soon, his question was answered.
After getting on Skylar's back, Moose began chanting and swinging the wand that appeared in his hand.
In no time, Jonathan and Yeverie started sensing something odd.
They were still walking as usual, but the scenery around them passed by rapidly.
It was as if the road had been compressed. Despite their moderate speed, they crossed a distance of fifteen
kilometers in the blink of an eye.
This was the Acceleration Magic Moose was talking about.
As it was heavily energy-consuming, Moose rarely used it to travel.
He only decided to be reckless this time because they had a clear destination.
Half an hour later, Moose ceased his ministrations.
The sky was pitch-black, but the scenery ahead of them was still visible among the pristine snow.
Moose's forehead was covered in beads of sweat, his face sheet-white.
Casting the magic had taken a huge toll on his energy.
Fortunately, they found the place where Torrence had fallen earlier.
The sunken spot was still there, and looking down, they could see the palace inside.
“Skylar, hurry and lead them down there,” Moose urged weakly.
With a nod, Skylar took the lead and jumped into the pit with the other Golden Knights.
Jonathan and Yeverie stayed behind with Moose.
While the other men rushed into Demon Dragon Palace, an amusing idea occurred to Jonathan—Moose was now in
his hands.
It would be a piece of cake for him to kill Moose right then and there.
Moose realized the same thing at that point. He had been too eager to find Torrence, and the latter's sudden arrival
at Demon Dragon Palace had caused him and his companions to lose their composure.
