Chapter 449 Two Bodies Are Missing
Jonathan was slightly stunned.
Torrence continued, “The dragons used to be power-hungry, which caused all other major clans to work together
and defeat them. This meant that the dragons weren't innocent, harmless creatures either. While the dragons have
hidden themselves and haven't committed any offense, what's to say they'll remain peaceful in the future? What if
they attack humans again after they've recuperated enough? In this scenario, it's normal for humans to make the
first move against them.”
Jonathan fell into deep thought. I must admit Torrence has a point. It's like two gunmen meeting each other in a
dark forest. Their first thought isn't going to be making peace or even greeting each other. Their first instinct will be
to shoot each other. After all, neither of them knows if the other bears ill will. They can't afford to find out if the
stranger is going to shoot them. All humans know dragons are powerful, and dragons have a bad record. It's
normal to want to eliminate the dragons before they can cause any substantial damage again. It's an irrefutable
line of thinking.
Jonathan replied, “In that case, your desire to join Demon Dragon seems morally untenable.”
Torrence replied, “I don't care about that when my life hangs on a tightrope. Besides, even if I do join Demon
Dragon, it doesn't mean I'm betraying humanity. I'm not betraying anyone.”
Jonathan sighed. “In that case, have you ever regretted rebelling against Supreme Sect?”
Torrence answered resolutely, “No. I worshiped Theos. However, after Supreme Sect's true colors were revealed, I
lost my faith. I can't stay in the sect anymore because I can't stop seeing everything related to Supreme Sect as
fake, hypocritical, and dirty. It just wasn't possible for me to stay in that place even for a second longer. It's tiring to
be on the run, but I feel free. Every breath of air I take reminds me of my independence.”
Jonathan flashed a faint smile. “I didn't know you care so much about mental hygiene.”
What is mental hygiene?
It's about maintaining one's mental health. For example, you love your wife very much, but you find out one day
your wife cheated on you. No matter how she apologizes or expresses regret for her actions, you just can't forgive
her.
Torrence took a sip of wine silently. Suddenly, he looked at Jonathan with a smile. “After Demon Dragon was frozen,
I practically fell into despair. But now I have a bold idea, the last spark of hope.”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtIntrigued, Jonathan asked, “What do you have in mind?”
“We can start our own thing! The two most powerful individuals in the history of Moranta are Theos and the
founding king of Paradiso, Darve. Theos is a five-element magician, and Darve possesses the same ability as Theos
on top of his incredible martial arts skill. They have accomplished glorious things. As for you, you're proficient in
martial arts, and you're also capable of wielding all types of magic. You're much more talented than the two of
them.” The excitement in Torrence's voice grew. “Perhaps you'll even become more powerful than them in the
future. I believe the heavens granted you these talents for a reason, Jonathan. There must be a deeper meaning
behind your gifts. Perhaps you came from the main world to fulfill a mission.”
He couldn't help but feel giddy with joy, thinking he had uncovered a great secret.
Jonathan rubbed his nose. “You know, magic cultivation isn't that easy. If I want to reach the level of Darve and
Theos, I need at least a couple of decades of cultivation! Besides, my home is in the main world. If I stay here for a
few decades, chaos will have probably descended upon the main world. Besides, it's pointless for me to cultivate
magic because magic elements aren't present in the main world. My magical skills will be useless when I return
home.”
Disappointment flashed past Torrence's eyes when he heard that. What he says makes sense. “You're right. Ignore
what I just said.”
I know it's a ludicrous idea, a desperate attempt of a drowning man to grasp at straws.
Noticing Torrence's disappointment, Jonathan thought of an idea. “Since Demon Dragon is roughly an equal match
to Theos, I don't think it's dead. It's only frozen. There must be a way to rouse it. It's a lot more reasonable for us to
place our hopes on it when it's a powerful entity that's still alive.”
Torrence's eyes lit up. “You're right. After our meal, we'll check it out. Something must've happened here that we
don't know about.”
Jonathan nodded.
After their meal, they were reinvigorated. Their bodies felt warmer.
They didn't pack up their tents because they still had to sleep later.
They left Feather Palace and headed to Dragon Palace.
Before they did, the stench of blood wafted into their noses.
Jonathan and Yeverie had a strange familiarity with the smell of blood, but Torrence wasn't. He was frowning.
The scene in Dragon Palace was as exactly as they recalled before they left. Bodies were strewn about in the hall
while blood was painted on the walls and floors.
Ahead of them was Demon Dragon, still frozen. Its expression remained unchanged.
Jonathan and Torrence marched toward Demon Dragon. Soon, they arrived before the behemoth.
When they stood in front of Demon Dragon, they felt like tiny ants.
Jonathan and Torrence stared at Demon Dragon. They could spot the shock and rage still within the creature's eyes.
“This is where all dragons are banished,” said Torrence. “Every other dragon I spotted here has been frozen, and all
their expressions are of shock and terror. Some even appear enraged. This means someone else froze them.”
“Of course,” Jonathan replied. “Who would do that to themselves for no reason?”
“Then here's the big question. There are so many dragons here, and each of them is incredibly powerful. Who's
strong enough to encase all of them in ice?”
Jonathan pondered the question before suggesting, “Could it be Theos?”
Torrence shook his head. “It's definitely not Theos. Even she isn't mighty enough to accomplish this feat. Besides, if
she did do this, it would've been a source of pride for her. There's no doubt she would've announced this incredible
feat to garner even more worshippers. She has no reason to hide this. If my guess is accurate, even Theos doesn't
know what transpired here.”
“This is a type of ice magic, isn't it?”
Torrence nodded. “This is the super forbidden spell under Water Magic, Permafrost.”
“You said that even Theos couldn't have frozen all these dragons. Then who could have done this? I don't think
someone capable of a feat of this scale is just a nobody in Moranta.”
“Logically, you're right. But I genuinely can't think of anyone in this land who possesses the ability to pull this off.”
Jonathan rubbed his nose. “It seems that this is a complicated case!”
Torrence nodded in agreement.
“Is there a way to undo Permafrost?” Jonathan asked.
“Of course there is. It requires a mighty Divine Master to use a forbidden spell and manipulate water elements to
dispel Permafrost.”
“I'm assuming neither of us can perform this feat.”
Torrence smiled bitterly. “That's right.”
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm“Then again, we aren't best friends with the dragons. Even if we can free them, we can't do it rashly. What if they
kill us after we release them?”
Torrence seemed downhearted. “Forget it. It's pointless to wonder because we don't have the ability to free them.”
He paused before continuing, “How about we look around and see if we can find something else?”
Jonathan nodded.
“Mr. Torrence, Mr. Lawson, something doesn't seem right.” Suddenly, Yeverie spoke tremblingly behind Jonathan.
Her voice was filled with fear.
Jonathan and Torrence quickly turned back.
“What's the matter, Yeverie?” Jonathan spun around and saw that nothing had changed in Dragon Palace. The
dragons were all still frozen.
Torrence looked at Yeverie in confusion.
Yeverie said, “Two bodies are missing from the ground.”
Shocked, Jonathan and Torrence immediately checked the floor. “Whose bodies?”
Soon, they realized something odd.
The bodies of Moose and Skylar were nowhere to be seen on the ground.
What the f*ck! Jonathan broke into a cold sweat. This is too creepy!
The colors drained from Torrence's countenance.
Jonathan and Torrence exchanged a look of disbelief.
“Did someone else come here and drag their bodies away?” Jonathan wondered aloud.
Torrence knitted his eyebrows. “Why would they do that?”
“I don't think they survived, did they? I recall crushing Mr. Moose's throat. It's impossible for someone with a
crushed throat to survive.”
“I stabbed Skylar with a sword. He was definitely dead.”
“Look!” Yeverie exclaimed in shock and pointed ahead.
Two scary-looking figures appeared in front of the group.
They were Skylar and Moose.
Moose's neck was still a bloody mess, but his eyes were wide open.
Likewise, Skylar's eyes were open, and his chest was stained with blood.
