Chapter 2 Chapter 2 Summer Frost POV I knew going to his family wasn't an option for me, but I had nowhere to go and I was hoping they allowedto stay with them at least until I was able to sort things out with my husband.

I sat on the bench at the bus stop amid the freezing morning cold as I dialed his number, hoping he'd listen tothis time, but I was only dreaming. A dream that would never ctrue.

"Don't you dare call my number again," The hatred in his voice as he spoke toon the phone broke my heart into shreds. I couldn't shed a drop of tears as my eyes were dried up.

I was freezing to the bone. I couldn't even grab a single cloth from the house when he threwout, I was out here in the cold with nothing but just a robe on, not even a penny on me. How did my life end up like this? "Why don't you go to your family? You would ask me, but do you think I wouldn't go to them if I had one? For a girl who was said to have been abandoned at the orphanage at just a few months old, moved out at eighteen to cater for herself and had since been living on the edge of a sword for years trying to survive, who was I to run to? No one.

Again, I dialed Xander's number event needed him the most though I knew that there was no hope for me. Just as I had expected, he ignored my call. Xander ignoredwhen "Don't sleep, Summer... You can't sleep," I cuddled myself up and tried to keep my eyes open.

"You have to hang in there for the sake of your baby," I reminded myself, but I couldn't take it anymore. The cold had already penetrated and rendered bones numb, my eyelids were becoming heavier with every second that passed until I could barely keep my eyes open.

"Hang in there for your child, Summer. You can't give up," Even when darkness clooming, I tried to be hopeful until I couldn't take it anymore.

The blurry figure of someone towering overwelcomedas I forced my eyes open. For a moment, I thought I had died and gone to the other world, but that thought only lasted for seconds until my vision becclear and I found myself in a strange room.

"You are awake? Thank goodness," Ca masculine voice that madetilt my head in the direction to find a man in his sixties, seated besideon the bed and looking atwith concern on his face.

"Are you ok? Are you feeling any my pain? Should I call the doctor?" The man askedas he held my hand, but I stared back at him blankly. Although his face looked familiar, I couldn't place where I had seen the face before now. Who is this man? Where is this place? I asked myself "Who are you? Where am I?" My voice cout weakly as I managed to sit up on the bed, and that was when I saw the large spacious room was inside Could it be that I was in another world? I wondered as I looked around. This couldn't be Earth, right? "You are safe now," He smiled at me.

11:24 Tue, 11 Jun G Chapter 2 "Who are you?" I asked again, curious to know the identity of this man.

"You must've forgotten me, I understand. I have been looking for you for months. I am the man you saved on the road months ago." My jaw dropped shockingly when he introduced himself to me. Six months ago, I had given mouth-to-mouth resuscitation to a man who had an asthma attack on my way from the hospital where I used to work as an intern. I had forgotten the man's face although he looked familiar when I first saw him. "After I checked the CCTV footage on the road, I found out that it was you who saved me, and for the past few months, I have been looking for you. I had tried to reach you severally but couldn't, until someone reached out that you were seen at that bus stop today." He smiled at me, revealing his set of perfect dentitions while I was staring confusingly.

"You must be confused. It is tto get rewarded for the favour you rendered tomonths ago..." He paused then held my hand and smiled.

"I don't have much tleft as I will be retiring soon. I don't have an heir that will take over my legacy after I'm gone so I was going to donate all my properties to charity, but I changed my mind after you saved me..." He paused and continued, "Will you take over my company and becthe new CEO?" I could only stare at him blankly, unable to say anything as everything cas a shock to me. ୨୦e to donate all my "Uhm..." I opened my mouth to talk, but it felt like my tongue was tied down to my mouth as words falled me. I didn't know what to say to him.

"You can take your tto think about it, and we will discuss it later. For now, feel at home." He paused, then stood up and smiled at me.
