153 Orders!
It felt kind of wrong, but Kairen wanted to listen to what they were talking about.
“Mmm...”
Kairen took his eyes off of the window and rushed to Ariyan’s room.
‘Let’s put this kid in his bed first.’
His back already hurt a lot because of holding the kid for too long.
After putting Ariyan in his bed, he still stood in the kid’s room. He could hear those two’s conversation through the window better in Ariyan’s room, and it was more comfortable to eavesdrop while staying in Ariyan’s room than standing in the hall like a fool. Standing beside the window, Kairen listened to their conversation.
“I don’t think that way...”
Kain’s voice saying those words was gloomy.
“What is the point of saying it to him anyway?”
.....
Alessia sighed and leaned closer to Kain.
“The point is that you won’t feel guilty anymore.”
“....”
“And he wouldn’t feel betrayed when he finds out later.”
“....”
“Do you even understand how he might feel after finding out? He might even misunderstand all of the things that had happened between you two.”
Kain looked at his wife with a frown.
“How would he even find out?”
“How? You suck at acting, that’s how!”
“H-hey!”
“Maybe it’s because he had lost his memories that he hadn’t still realized, but he will sooner or later. Just look at yourself! Why do you even forcefully hold him in the house? Are you a prison guard or something?”
“....”
Kain brushed his face with his hands.
“You are telling me to ignore the orders given to us only for such things?”
“Yes.”
“....”
“He is your little brother after all.”
Kain suddenly chuckled.
“A little brother who had never once called me ‘Brother’?”
Hearing those words, Alessia narrowed her eyes.
“Are you still sulking about that? Are you a kid?”
“I’m not sulking but... that is important! Really important! What if I die without getting called brother not even once in my life??? I will leave this world with a lot of regrets!”
‘Huh? What?’
Kairen has never called Kain brother?
Why?
Kairen tilted his head.
‘I thought they had a good relationship...’
Thinking about the past few months that he had got to know Kain, Kairen remembered that he too had never called him that way.
‘Hmm... Strange...’
“Come on honey, don’t say things like that!”
“Haaa!”
Kain sighed and leaned back.
“But I can’t just go tell him that we were ordered to watch and report his actions, can I?”
‘...!!’
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtOrdered to what?
‘They’ve been ordered to observe me?’
Kairen subconsciously took one step back after hearing those words.
“How am I even supposed to tell that?”
Kain’s voice got even gloomier.
“And I can’t disobey the orders that easily...”
Kairen bit his lower lip.
He had heard before from his professor in the academy that he would be watched by SMF. He knew that they were suspicious of him. And it was only natural to get more suspicious after what happened that day. Even Kairen too was starting to doubt himself.
But still this situation...
“Also, how would he react if he finds out about the orders? Even if he is innocent, and even if he doesn’t remember things because of his loss of memories... Wouldn’t he hide things from us more than before? I don’t want such a thing to happen.”
... The fact that these two people out of every one were having such a conversation...
“So, are you doing it out of your own will or only to follow the orders?”
...That they were ordered to watch him...
“...Both.”
...Strangely made Kairen’s heart hurt.
“How long are we going to keep doing this?”
Alessia asked again.
“I don’t know. Probably, until we receive other orders.”
Kain sighed and folded his arms.
“Not that we have much time to observe him anyway. We are on missions most of the time.”
Not wanting to listen to that conversation any further, Kairen turned around and exited Ariyan’s room.
‘They had been ordered. Right! They couldn’t just disobey the orders because they didn’t want to do that!’
He strode over to his own room.
‘I am the suspicious one so there is no one at fault but me!’ ????????????????????????????. ????????????
He entered the room and closed the door.
‘They are not even my family so there is nothing for me to feel bad about!’
And plopped down on the bed.
“.....”
Kairen lowered his head.
‘But... did they receive the orders just recently?’
Were they ordered to watch him after what happened with that man, or had they been doing that far before that?
Since when have they been reporting his actions?
Since two days ago? One week? Or from the beginning?
‘Did they tell me to come live here for that?’
“....”
Were they lying to him all that time? Was he fooled to come here so that they could observe him better? Was... everything just an act?
That can’t be.
They wouldn’t do something like that.
.....
Right?
Kairen lowered his head even more.
Why was he feeling like this?
Why did he feel so bitter?
He hadn’t known these people for long, he definitely wouldn’t feel sad because they obeyed their higher-ups and reported some of his actions.
Also, he hadn’t done anything wrong. Why would he worry about his actions being reported?
Yeah.
Right.
He didn’t feel sad at all.
Not even a little bit.
“....”
They are right.
Actually, that was the logical thing to do.
Anyone would get suspicious of him after what happened that day.
A Philomns member who was about to kill him suddenly ran away after seeing his face. Everyone would be suspicious.
Right.
Kairen suddenly was reminded of Alessia’s words.
‘Was Kain acting strange?’
Now that Kairen thought about it, Kain had indeed been a little bit strange for a few days, but Kairen didn’t pay that much attention as he was sick.
“A few days...”
Kairen quietly mumbled that under his lips.
“Only a few days...”
Kairen mumbled again.
“Tch!”
He suddenly felt pissed.
‘Who the hell ordered them, huh? Was it team leader Dains?’
That couldn’t be.
Team leader Dains was unit 5’s leader, but he couldn’t order other units’ members that easily. He could ask for their help and they would help him if they wanted, that was all.
‘Then, unit 6’s leader? Or maybe someone else? Someone more powerful...?’
Kairen heaved a deep breath.
‘Whoever it was, they were a bastard! How can you order someone to observe their brother? Bastard! Mutherfukher!’
Kairen lay down on the bed.
‘Akc, no! Why the hell am I so suspicious?? I too am starting to think that I have something to do with those terrorists!’
Bam Bam Bam
He punched the bed with frustration.
‘That Kairen 1 bastard! It’s all because of him!’
Bam Bam Bam
‘How am I supposed to find answers to all of these questions?’
Kairen stopped punching the bed and clenched his fists.
“....”
His questions kept increasing, and he fell into deeper shit as time passed.
Philomns...
The only thing that he knew was that he had to find out about them more if he wanted to find answers to at least a few of his questions.
And to do that...
‘Damn it! I don’t feel like playing games anymore!’
Turning his body, Kairen picked up the book on the table beside the bed.
‘Fuck! I hate everything so much!’
. . . . . .
After reading his text for the fifth time, Kairen finally tapped the ‘send’ button.
He sent the text and impatiently waited for the answer.
Ding
The answer from captain Neal came after a few moments.
[Really? You’ve already finished the book?]
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmKairen wrote the answer immediately.
[Yes. When do you have time to practice again, captain Neal?]
Ding
[Master!!]
Ding
[I don’t have times to come to the gym for a few days, and actually, there is no need for it.]
Ding
[Come to my office after you are finished with work. I have to take an exam from the book first before moving on to the training.]
“.....”
An exam?
Kairen’s face paled.
[A written exam?]
Ding
[We’ll talk more about that when you come here. I’ve got to go now. See you later.]
The series of texts ended there and the elevator arrived at the same time. Kairen walked into the elevator and waited till it arrived.
‘I don’t want to take a written exam...’
Ding
The door of the elevator opened and Kairen entered unit 5’s office. He was finally back to work after 3 days of being forced to ‘rest’. He had a really hard time persuading Kain that he could go back to work.
As soon as he entered the hall, the whole place became silent.
“....”
“....”
“....”
A few turned their heads and stared at him. They averted their gazes once they saw Kairen looking back at them.
Kairen could see Serria sitting near Elsie and the others who were looking at Kairen with a really scary face, and Reyan busy helping out Rai with a familiar face.
Kairen lowered his head and walked to one of the desks.
‘They look at me as if I’m a criminal...’
Well, that was understandable considering the things that had happened that day.
Bang
A door was kicked open as soon as Kairen sat down on a chair.
“Hey, Kairen. Come here for a little bit.”
Kairen got up from his seat and walked to Glenn.
“Here!”
Without even waiting for Kairen to ask what he needed, Glenn placed a paper on his hand while pushing him inside the room.
“Check the average change levels recorded on the surface of the city’s barrier and compare it with the statistics for the past few years. Do the same thing for all of the large cities in the country. Also, you need to compare the results from different cities with each other. I need a proper record of the outcome by two hours.”
“....”
“Also...”
While pushing Kairen towards the computer, Glenn picked up another paper from his desk.
“After you are done with that, check the rate at which the monsters are created throughout the country for the past two years. I want a separate report about the average rate of monster generation for each month of these two years.”
“.....”
Glenn forced Kairen to sit behind the computer while still talking.
“And as soon as you are done with that, I want you to take a look at these statistics. Compare the rate of monsters spotted in our radars for the past five years, the strength of the monsters, and the amount of damage dealt by them.”
“....”
Pat Pat
Glenn patted Kairen’s shoulders.
“Thank god you are back. I was going crazy having to deal with all of this stuff alone.”
“....”
“What are you waiting for? Start before it gets late.”
