Chapter 207

"Don't worry," Dexter said coldly. "lI won't go the wrong way. Does your arm still hurt?"

Angela didn't reply immediately. After a while, she asked, "Can you putdown for now? My back hurts."

He was holding her in a way that made her particularly uncomfortable.

Dexter had no choice but to set her down on a flat area. Standing up, he looked down at her from above.

"Why are you carrying me? It's not like we're in a rush to get down the mountain. Don't think this will change my

opinion of you," Angela muttered.

Ever since that incident, she had been particularly wary of Dexter; she was unwilling to be alone with him.

He looked a bit exasperated. "Do you think | want to carry you? You got injured because of my mom. I'm just

paying back the favor for her so that you don't accuse us of owing you anything later."

Angela was momentarily at a loss for words, silently fuming to herself.

This was indeed an obscure path, a narrow trail hidden deep within the bushes. It was nearly invisible if one

didn't look carefully.

"Anyway, how do you even know about this path?" Angela asked. "You're not planning to leave my dead body in

the wilderness, are you?"

Dexter was drinking water at the tand almost choked because of her words. He turned to shoot her a look.

"Are you dumb?"

He then took out a bottle from his pocket and handed it to her. "Here, drink this. Finish it quickly so we can keep

going."

Angela didn't take it. She glanced at him, hesitating to speak.

She needed to use the bathroom. On the way up, she'd already had two bottles of water. Moreover, so much

thad already passed that she couldn't hold it in any longer.

However, how could she go when she was in the middle of nowhere?

"Could you step away for a bit? | want to be alone," she said softly, avoiding his gaze.

"No," Dexter refused without a second thought. "I brought you here. You need to stay within my line of sight. If

something happens to you, | won't be able to take responsibility."

How dense could he be?

"I need to use the bathroom. Are you planning to just stand there and watch?" Angela snapped, unable to hold it

in any longer.

Dexter's expression froze. Clearing his throat lightly, he said, "Wait here. I'll find a spot for you."

With that, he strode into the nearby woods.

Angela was speechless.

Oh great, spot

her to now he was going to find a

use. How embarrassingend

be if anyone found out?

She couldn't afford this level of humiliation.

After sthought, Angela got up and went in the opposite direction.

She walked quickly for about 100 feet, making sure that any sound she made

wouldn't reach him. Then she hid herself in the bushes.

Alas, in her haste, she forgot that this wild

creatures that slithered. that slithered.

Angela finished her business and was just about to leave when she locked eyes

with a pair of tiny, pitch-black ones.

Her mind went blank instantly.

The snake was over three feet long, as thick as her wrist, and jet black with terrifying circular patterns on its

body.

Angela's whole body went numb. A chill ran down her spine, spreading from the soles of her feet, all the way to

her head.

Her first thought was to run.

If she ran as fast as she could, maybe she could outrun the terrifying creature.

But deep down, she knew better

than anyone that the more panicked

and impulsive she was, the more

likely she was to provoke it into

chasing her.

For a moment, Angela was in pure agony. Every cell in her body was consumed

by fear. This was too much!

Tears welled up in her eyes purely from terror.

The snake began to move, flicking its tongue and slithering toward her right foot with a soft hiss.

Angela's eyes widened as she stared at it. Too afraid to move, she froze in place.

She didn't dare to move. What if it bit her? One or two bites, and she might not make it out alive today.
