hapter 148 The emotions that had been suppressed in his heart suddenly surged, and Alex tried desperately to restrain them. Seeing no reaction from Ellie, Alex held Ellie's chin. "Letsee if my touch will make your chin fall off." Alex pulled Ellie's ears, pinched her cheeks, and rubbed her head.

His gaze softened unconsciously. Alex spoke again, his tone carrying an unnoticed heartache. "When you were well-behaved before, did I ever hurt you?" Ellie, with her eyes closed, was fussed over by Alex, who rubbed her head and pinched her face. Listening to his inexplicable words, her hands hidden under the blanket clenched tightly.

Feeling Alex's breath, Ellie held her breath, barely able to keep up the act. Originally, Ellie thought that if she called the police on him, he would cand confront her immediately.

"When she was bullied at school, I fought that bully. When she was harassed by a boy, beat up that boy.

Aaron unconsciously reddened at the corners of his eyes. "I never deny that the Warren family has been kind to us, but that's not a reason for you to bully her." Alex said, "You keep saying you are grateful to us, so why can't I ask her to suffer a little injustice to clear up for Haley? I'm not asking for her life."
