Chapter 415 E Alex's car was parked on the side of the dam road, with a steep embankment on the other side that no one could With Alex guarding the other side of the car, Ellie was temporarily safe inside.

Ignoring his own pain, Alex shifted, holding Ellie on his back as he maneuvered them closer to the stump.

He positioned himself so that his back was supported by the stump and his legs were braced against the broken tree trunk in the water.

He suspended his waist in the air, using his shoulders and legs to keep Ellie's body out of the water.

Hearing movement nearby, Alex threw his phone as hard as he could.

Soon, the footsteps faded away. After a while, the sound of an engine started up on the dam.

"Don't be afraid. We're safe for now," Alex said, pulling Ellie closer and gently patting her back to comfort her.

"Because you're hurt, and it must hurt a lot," Ellie whispered.

"No pain is worse than when you ignore me,” Alex said, his voice thick with emotion, "Ellie, when I hold you again, can you promise not to pushaway?" Ellie didn't speak, but her tears flowed uncontrollably.

Hearing her quiet sobs, Alex's voice broke as he continued, "Ellie, youn have no idea how much I want to go back to the way things were, how much I want to be with you again." 2/2
