Chapter 208 [Bonus chapter] Jame’s SecretChapter 208 [Bonus chapter] Jame’s Secret
On Eisenhart's side, time passed, and his mana dwindled at an alarming rate. Pain surged through him as his magic vein's mana regeneration couldn't keep up with the consumption of his terror construct. Restlessness gnawed at him. At this rate, if he didn't finish off the archangel quickly, he would be the one to die when his mana ran dry.
"Tch… this is going nowhere… kill her!" Fearing that his mana would deplete before he could extract any useful information from Michaela, Eisenhart decided to cut his losses and commanded his Terror Construct to eliminate the archangel.
From Michaela's perspective, Daniel approached her and stopped in front of her. She had already fallen to the ground, sitting lifelessly, her heart aching from the words spoken by her lord.
"Offer me your life to atone for your sins, Michaela," said Daniel's terror construct.
"Yes… My lord." Michaela bowed toward Daniel's figure, tilting her head to expose her neck, making it easier for her lord to end her insignificant existence.
"No!" An alarmed cry rang out as a figure in a prisoner's outfit rushed to Michaela's side and pushed her out of the way just as the blade was about to descend toward her neck.
Bam!
Michaela slumped to the side, narrowly escaping death. The one who had pushed her to safety was Erina Sun, the mission's target that Michaela had come to rescue.
"Ms. Archangel! What's going on!? What are you doing? He's trying to kill you!" Erina exclaimed, shocked by Michaela's submissive behavior. She had never expected to witness such despair in an archangel, the same kind of hopelessness displayed by royalist extremists who had deemed their lives worthless to the royal family, forsaking all aspirations and even the will to live.
In that pivotal moment, a brilliant beam of light radiated from an unexpected source. A VTOL aircraft approached the ship, its powerful searchlight illuminating the vessel. Its massive landing bay doors swung open, revealing four sturdy rope ladders that unraveled and descended toward the ship below while the VTOL hovered overhead.
"Everyone! Climb up!" A red-haired man in a biker gang cloth inside the VTOL shouted to the newly liberated prisoners below.
Upon hearing the call, all of the freed prisoners swiftly ascended the four rope ladders, their desperation to escape evident.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
Bullets were unleashed upon the prisoners. Some harmlessly ricocheted off their bodies, while others pierced through Michaela's diminishing holy aura, tragically claiming the lives of a few.
"What?!" The red-haired man in a biker gang cloth exclaimed in alarm. Without hesitation, he leaped from the VTOL onto the ship, racing towards the wardens who callously fired upon the liberated prisoners.
Bam!
The red-haired man delivered a powerful punch to one of the wardens, sending him hurtling into his fellow guards. He swiftly turned to another target and repeated the process. This red-haired man, who had the appearance of a biker gang member, was none other than James, known as the Brawler of the Vatican, or alternatively, the Maddog of Wallachia.
"Shoot him! Shoot him!" one of the wardens yelled, directing the others' attention towards James. Their guns trained on James, exactly what he had intended all along. He drew the warden's focus onto himself.
James moved through the ranks of the wardens with astonishing speed, faster than any normal human could. Wherever he passed, wardens were sent flying by his powerful punches. But before James could continue his onslaught, Eisenhart's Terror Construct rushed toward him, brandishing a deadly blade.
James quickly turned to confront the Terror Construct. He wasn't afraid of this Daniel, as he knew it wasn't his lord. Nevertheless, this Terror Construct retained 80% of his lord's combat prowess, leaving James unable to evade its attack. The blade pierced through his abdomen and penetrated his back.
"Give up your futile resistance. I don't know who you truly are, and I don't care, but I swear I'll find out, even if I have to extract the information from your lifeless body!" Eisenhart declared with disdain as he approached James, who was now coughing up blood after being freed from the blade of the Terror Construct.
At that moment, James swiftly rose to his feet, charging towards Eisenhart. His hand transformed into a werewolf's palm, and long, sharp blade-like claws sprouted from his fingers, poised to slash at Eisenhart's face.
"Protect me!" Eisenhart cried out in panic, and the Terror Construct quickly moved to block James' attack.
Now, James's body had fully transformed into a werewolf. His red, flame-like fur stood on end, signaling that he was no ordinary werewolf but something greater, more powerful, and infinitely more dangerous than the typical lycanthrope. James's eyes gleamed like fiery red orbs.
His abdomen, still bleeding but slowly healing, pumped a strange, red substance that resembled blood but possessed an otherworldly energy towards James's head. This crimson substance collected in his eyes, giving them an appearance of burning blood or flames.
James pushed against the Terror Construct, attempting to shove it aside so he could reach the mage, but the construct didn't budge an inch.
"Don't you dare stand in my way!" James roared as he continued to increase his power.

Crack… crack…
The cracking noise pierced Eisenhart's ears, a familiar sound that signaled the material durability of his Terror Construct had reached its limit. Suddenly, excruciating pain coursed throughout his body.
"Araaaaarrrrrggghhhh!" James screamed in agony, collapsing to his knees. Smoke billowed from his body, and blood seeped from his eyes and orifices.
"What!? My mana vein is overloaded!? This damn mutt!" Eisenhart glared at James in anger, but beneath that anger, a small undercurrent of fear simmered.
By Eisenhart's calculations, his mana vein should have sustained his Terror Construct, taking on the form of Daniel Emberweave, for another five minutes. Yet, within half a minute, his mana vein had reached its limit. James's overwhelming strength had caused the self repair function of the Terror construct to drain his mana like an endless pit, and maintain its strength as the object of fear of that archangel.
With the ominous cracking sounds he heard, it meant that James had even come out on top despite the overload on his mana vein.
Eisenhart swiftly retrieved a blue pill from his pocket and hastily swallowed it. This was a mana regeneration pill that used his vitality to boost his mana generation ability. It was a risky move, as one's vitality was directly tied to their lifespan. However, mages had lifespans of around 300 years, so he didn't mind sacrificing some of it, but he cursed James for this stroke of bad luck.
Crack… crack… Crack… crack…
The cracks began to spread from the Terror Construct's arm and expanded across its body. The pain from his overloaded mana vein, which had momentarily subsided, surged once more. Simultaneously, the fatigue from the pill set in as it started supplying him with more mana. But even with this extra mana, the consumption was colossal, akin to a black hole devouring a star.
"You! Damn mutt!" Eisenhart cursed as he waved his hand, activating his magic insignia once more. "Mutt! Let's see what your fear is!" Eisenhart roared as he poured his mana into the magic insignia.
At that moment, an eerie dark-green light flashed, and the Terror Construct began to change its shape. With a wild, instinctual fear, James quickly retreated to a safer distance, bracing himself for the unknown.
The Terror Construct morphed its appearance once more, and a figure that James feared appeared before his eyes. It was a black-haired woman in a green suit, wielding a spear and shield, glaring at James with resentment.
"Shit! Big sis Penthesilea! Why are you here!? No... this isn't right... it couldn't be..." James muttered, attempting to reason with himself. He vividly remembered that Penthesilea was stationed at the base, overseeing this operation. He had even received her commands from the VTOL to assist in guarding the prisoners along with Michaela.
"What of it? You damn horny dog! You abused the vacation I gave you and had affairs with numerous women in Hollywood!? If Ms. Greed hadn't told me, I wouldn't have known that you had become a pet of some lustful witch in Hollywood!" Penthesilea spat out her curses at James, who quickly retreated in guilt.
"Er... Big sis... Big sis, I can explain! Please, listen to me!" James desperately tried to calm his furious boss, but it seemed to be in vain.
