Chapter 255 A Spy Struggle-02Chapter 255 A Spy Struggle-02
As Black Shadow continued gathering information, time swiftly passed, witnessing a continuous influx of foreigners into Sector Alpha City. This surge strained the city's security measures, creating an environment conducive to his mission.
The more chaotic Sector Alpha became, the higher the chances of success. However, the current level of chaos wasn't sufficient; he needed to escalate it further to have a real shot at his objective.
Typically, he would take his time on a mission, laying the groundwork, familiarizing himself with the locale, establishing a robust spy network, identifying weaknesses, and preparing backup plans. This time, time was a luxury he couldn't afford.
With the border under intense pressure and the potential loss of territory for the Confederacy even if the mission succeeded, time was of the essence. Hence, he had to expedite the process. Creating as much chaos as possible and infiltrating swiftly became the only viable solution.
Once the attention of security and emergency services was diverted elsewhere, his chances of success would soar. To enhance his capabilities, Black Shadow procured a variety of weapons and ordnance, including heavy weaponry and explosives. All these items were acquired from one of the most influential gangs in Sector Alpha City.
What struck him as peculiar was the ease with which he could obtain these weapons, without much hassle or probing questions. While he knew that questioning customers wasn't standard practice in the black market, the complete lack of interest or precautions on the part of the faction that owned the black market seemed unusual.
Typically, such establishments would impose ground rules or issue warnings to customers, like forbidding the use of weapons on their property. However, Black Shadow found none of that here, which left him both intrigued and a little uneasy. Despite these feelings, thorough checks revealed no GPS or bugs pinpointing his location.
Later, he found out that only him and a few other forces had enough money to persuade the Veneziale gangs to go against their policy for once to open access to the black market to them. Since the city was on high alert, they didn't want any authority eyes on them.
"Well... let's just forget about it," Black Shadow thought to himself before going to sleep, having completed all the preparations for today. Tomorrow, he needed to distribute all these weapons to various foreign and local gangs and mercenaries who also planned to take action on the day of the launch when security would be most strained.
Black Shadow planned to let other forces create as much chaos as possible so that he could slip into the Astral Tech HQ building in the midst of the chaos. It was the most likely place to store their technological data and know-how.

The next day, Black Shadow proceeded as planned. Everything went very smoothly until now—smoother than he expected, to the point where he began to fear that something was about to happen today. He just hoped that his instincts would be wrong this time.
At a peculiar abandoned building outside of the city, Black Shadow was with various groups of foreign gangs, spies, and mercenary groups hired by various countries and organizations for the same reason as him—they all coveted Astral Tech's technology.
Of course, if he had more time, he wouldn't resort to a meeting, as a lot of things could go wrong when numerous shady characters gathered in one place. He preferred using dead drops, but with the urgency of the situation, he had no choice.
In the midst of the meeting and the distribution of heavy weapons and ordnance, a loud voice echoed through the building via a loudspeaker.
"I'm the Director of the Astral Private Military Company, in charge of security on this island. As a formality, I'll say this only once. We've already surrounded you! I'll count to 10. Surrender, or we'll kill all of you, no questions asked!" The stern voice of a woman resonated within the walls.
Alarmed, all the gangs and mercenaries immediately grabbed the nearest weapons and rushed to the windows and any available fighting positions to assess the situation outside.
Black Shadow hurriedly headed to the back room to check the cameras he had set up earlier. He found that there were only four people, each guarding one of the four directions of the building.
The first was a beautiful woman in a green suit, holding a speaker along with a spear and shield, with a large battleaxe on her back. She seemed to be the director and exuded confidence, choosing to use cold weapons despite knowing that everyone in the abandoned building was armed with hot weapons.
The second figure was a brown-haired man in a black suit, clutching a futuristic looking assault rifle. Even in the night, he sported shades. Wait! Black Shadow recognized this individual – it was Jonathan, the boogeyman renowned for his extraordinary senses, accuracy, and reflexes, capable of single-handedly taking down an entire medium-sized gang.
However, Black Shadow had heard that Jonathan lost contact with the Syndicate Union after accepting a job from Vladimir Sokolov to raid the Veneziale gang and Astral Tech. At that time, Astral Tech's technology was merely hearsay, and not many countries or organizations paid it much attention.
The third was the black man, Viper, known for his mysterious ability that rendered guns useless against him. Black Shadow didn't know much about Viper's combat abilities, as anyone who fought him was already dead.
"If Viper is here, then... the Silencer should be here too, hiding in some vantage point around here," Black Shadow uttered nervously, knowing that the pair of Viper and Silencer always worked as a team.
"What about the fourth one?" Black Shadow said, then checked another camera.
The fourth one was an Asian man of average height and build. He wore traditional Qing attire with a pair of kungfu shoes and a black long trench coat draped over his body.
"Shit! Li Xian! Why is this guy here?" Black Shadow blurted out in alarm.
Li Xian was one of the Imperial Assassins of the Qing Imperial family and the descendant of Li Shuwen. Black Shadow vividly remembered the destructive power of Li Xian's Bajiquan when he witnessed Li Xian hunting him while infiltrating the Qing Empire.
He vividly recalled the Humvee that Li Xian punched, immediately turning it into a huge pile of scrap metal. If not for his luck being in a different vehicle, he would have already died!
"One!" The woman began her countdown.
Bang!
Laughter erupted among the gangs and mercenaries as the woman's speaker was shot and rendered useless.
"Guess she won't be counting to ten anytime soon!" one gang member quipped, followed by a chorus of chuckles.

"Hey lady, standing there alone in the night, ain't ya cold? Want me to hold ya while we're naked?" another mercenary chimed in.
"Hey sister! Judging from your body, you should exercise a lot. How 'bout exercising with us in bed? Oh, I don't mind using a sheet or just a rag cloth."
As the comments ended, laughter erupted again, even louder than before.
The atmosphere in the room lightened, and some mercenaries exchanged amused glances. The tension that had gripped the building moments ago seemed to dissipate as the situation took an unexpected turn.
However, amid the laughter, Black Shadow remained alert, realizing that the woman's team outside was not to be underestimated. The initial amusement might have diffused the tension momentarily, but his instinct blaring in alarm, telling him to run away if he valued his life.
The woman, naturally, was not amused. She smiled, but that smile carried a hint of viciousness.
"Fine! As you wish, I won't count anymore... and I'll also do some exercise." The woman tossed away her broken speaker and roared, "Viper! Li Xian! Magic use permitted! Kill them all!"
At that moment, an unbelievable scene unfolded within Black Shadow's eyes. The woman rushed toward the main entrance with incredible speed, catching the gangs and mercenaries off guard. She broke through the steel door using her spear, slicing it to pieces.
In her hands, both the spear and shield went on a rampage, attacking those around her with stabs, slashes, and shield slams. The result was a massacre, a scene of chaos and violence that played out before him on the screen.
At that moment, he heard gunshots, but the woman's reflexes were beyond human; she used her shield and spear to deflect all of them. Then, a man hiding behind a fortified fighting position unleashed a hail of bullets from a heavy machine gun directly at her.
The woman swiftly activated her shield and an energy shield that quickly enveloped her body. At that moment, she clutched her large battle axe and threw it at the fortified fighting position.
BOOOOOMM!
A blue explosion erupted as the battle axe hit its target, tearing apart all the gangs and mercenaries within the explosion range.
