"Mingyu, when last did you speak to Emma?" Shi Wenqian probed as soon as Zhang Mingyu answered the call.
"At the engagement party." He replied.
"What! That's not right. It has been so long yet you haven't reached out to her. What is wrong with you?"
How was their relationship going to get stronger if they avoided each other? No! This will be bad for both families.
"Mum, have you forgotten that I'm currently learning how to be a successor? How will I age. The time to speak to her or see anyone?" Zhang Mingyu retorted.
In any case, he was just bluffing because he could make out time out of his busy schedule to fool around, but he couldn't do that to phone his fiancée or see her.
Shi Wenqian was smart enough to not believe him totally. Being aware that he did not feel attracted to Emma Ong, she knew he would most definitely avoid meeting her.
"Ask Emma out tomorrow. You can take her out for shopping tomorrow. I will send the funds. Make sure you call her now and speak to her about it."
Before ending the phone conversation, she added, "I will be waiting to hear about the news from Mrs. Ong this evening."
As soon as she ended the call, she was not relaxed in any way as she was troubled by something very important.
Having realized that Zhang Mingyu was not interested in a beautiful girl like Emma Ong from a rich family and with good educational background, an idea occured to her.
'There must be another woman.'
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtJust as she came to a conclusion about this matter, her gaze widened. Without wasting time, she picked up her phone again and made a call to someone.
"Send someone to follow Mingyu and find out what he is and had been up to."
Passing that instruction, she ended the call.
"I will be glad if I'm just thinking too much." He mumbled to herself before leaving for her foundation to check on the business and the incoming orders.

As per her his mother's instruction, Zhang Mingyu reached out to Emma Ong. Instead of calling her directly, he texted her.
'Are you free tomorrow? I will take you out to shop for anything you like.'
Putting down his phone, he continued with his work until an hour later when he finally received a response from her.
'Okay.'
Seeing her reply which meant that she agreed, he quickly sent her the time and their meeting location before ending the conversation.
Towards work closing hours, Mikayla knocked and walked into his office with a bright smile as usual.
As soon as she shut the door behind her, she quickly ran to his side to kiss the side of his face.
"Darling, I've missed you!" she said happily.
"You were just the happy medicine I was looking for." Zhang Mingyu said as a smile turned up on his face after an annoying day.
Seeing her made him feel relieved.
Exchanging a few more kisses, she sat on the desk before him.
"Are you done for the day?" She inquired as she used her hand to move his laptop away from her sight just so she could settle her butts on his desk properly.
"No. I still have more work to do." He replied as he wrapped his arms around her waist.
Glancing around for a bit, her gaze finally settled in his face. "Can we meet outside work tomorrow, I have something to tell you."
"You have something to tell me? Can't you say it now?" Zhang Mingyu asked while looking at her.
Wrapping her arms around his neck, she insisted, "No I can't. This news is very important to both of us. Let's meet outside work tomorrow."
"I have something important to do tomorrow after work. Tomorrow can't work." Zhang Mingyu replied as she met him trace her finger on his neck and go on to loosen his necktie.
"What will you be doing after work that is so important, more than what I want to tell you?" Mikayla probed with pouted lips.
Clearly she was annoyed, but she couldn't put it exactly that way so as to not a get him.
Having known him for a long time, she knew that little things usually made him angry, including too much clinginess.
Hearing her question, Zhang Mingyu was tongue-tied for a few seconds, making her find him suspicious.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmMeeting her intense gaze, he waved the question away after giving a vague response.
"There is someone I have to meet. I can't afford to get into trouble. Let's schedule to meet another day."
After he said that, Mikayla noticed that he was avoiding eye contact with her and knee that who he was going to meet was no good, but she didn't let out show on her face.
After teasing him a for a bit, she gave smooched his neck area before picking up her things and leaving.
As soon as she closed the door, the smile on her face disappeared. 'Let's see where you are going to.' She thought to herself before walking away.
Back in the office, Zhang Mingyu let out a sigh of relief.
He didn't want to tell Mikayla whom he was meeting after work so she wouldn't get jealous. As he didn't want to explain his entire life to her since she didn't have to know everything about him, he wanted to keep her out of his other affairs.
He could take care of those private matters without her interference, and that would be for the best.
Letting out another sigh, he hurried to finish the work he had on his desk before leaving home the next day.
Unknown to him, Mikayla was unhappy with him and wouldn't rest until she found out where he was going and who he would be meeting.
Returning back to her department section, Mikayla shut down her system and picked up her handbag before walking away, almost colliding into Tungmei.
"Watch where you are going!" Tungmei shouted. Rolling her eyes, she went to her desk to pack her things to leave for the day.
