Chapter 588
Though Faulkner Group had changed hands, many Faulkners continued to serve in upper management. News about the Faulkner family’s fiasco had yet to make the rounds in Xedells.
Most people conunued to fear the Faulkner family, so no one would liave dared to harm Janc,
Genevieve looked at Charlotte and said carefully, “Janc has a heart condition. Someone stole her medication.”
Charlotte momentarily froze in shock, though she quickly understood Genevieve’s meaning. She commented. “But Javier was knocked out cold. Even if he wakes up tomorrow, I doubt he’ll i remember anything he did after drinking himself into oblivion.”
“We don’t need to wait until tomorrow.” Genevieve narrowed her eyes shrewdly and smiled, adding, “Ms. Benson, could I trouble you to invite all the servers and guests to the ballroom Exclude the staff who were in the captain’s cabin.”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtAbout ten minutes later, almost every server aboard the cruise ship arrived at the ballroom, joining the socialites in attendance at the party.
The ballroom was crowded.
Someone asked Charlotte curiously, “What’s going on, Lottie?”
Genevieve stepped forward instead and announced, “Someone stole my friend’s medication from her purse.” Her piercing gaze swept across everyone present in the ballroom.
The crowd began gossiping about Genevieve’s revelation. “Who the heck stole your friend’s medication? What kind of a sick prank is that?”
“Right? It’s not as though it’s a longevity pill or something.”
Genevieve scoffed in response before explaining, “My friend is unwell, and the thief knew exactly that! But don’t worry, everyone. I know how to unmask the thief. I’ll just take up a minute of everyone’s time to perform a quick check.”
“Please cooperate with Genevieve’s investigation.” Charlotte declared. Then, she asked Genevieve, “Would you like to investigate us first or the service staff?”
Genevieve glanced at a corner of the room before replying, “Let’s check the service staff.”
She knew the culprit was smart enough to bribe someone else for such a risky task.
The service staff on the cruise ship assembled into several rows. Genevieve had them raise their hands, which she snilled at as she walked past cach einployce,
Curiously, Charlotte asked, “What are you doing, Genevieve?”
Instead of replying, Genevieve carried on her investigation. Somewhere in the crowd. Sylvie’s gaze narrowed slightly.
Sylvic guessed that there was something in Jane’s purse that would have left behind a scent on the thicfs hands or clothes.
Genevieve must be trying to track down the thief tuith that clue.
Svlvie had worn a mask when she bribed a waitress to stcal Janc’s medication. Nonetheless, the waitress could easily identify Sylvic by her voice should Genevieve do a bit of further digging.
While nothing would happen to Sylvie even if she were identified as the mastermind, the revelation would sour her relationship with Charlotte.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmAfter her last fiasco, Herbert had developed more negative opinions of Sylvic. If Granddad learns of this act, he‘s going to flip his lid.
Sylvie fretted over her dilemma. Suddenly, a lightbulb went off in her head as she spotted Coco out of the corner of her eye.
She pulled Coco aside and whispered, “If Genevieve finds the thief later, step forward and admit to bribing her.”
Coco was no fool, and Sylvie’s words immediately revealed her identity as the mastermind behind the medication theft.
She almost shrieked in exasperation, “Are you mad? Cooper is Genevieve’s older brother. What if he comes after my head over this?”
Coco had never been too nasty toward Genevieve because of the latter’s family background.
Meanwhile, Sylvie merely promised, “Cooper’s hardly powerful enough to sway the entire entertainment industry. If you help me now, I promise I’ll support your career in the future.”
“No!”
Coco’s rejection was swift. She remained haunted by what Gencvicve had done to her at the film festival.
