Chapter 891
Sally turned to look at Cooper. “Didn't you understand what I said? I don't want a nurse. I want you to take care of
me. You owe me. If I cheer up later, I won't do anything to Specter Corporation again. I'll ensure you're the first to
know if the government has any projects. But if not...”
She sneered before continuing, “I only promised Armand that I wouldn't cause trouble for Genevieve anymore. As
for whether Specter Corporation survives or tanks, I won't care at all.”
Cooper knew how ruthless Sally could be. She only had to contact a few people to shut down Specter Corporation's
branch office to push me to my wits' end. She didn't even have to get her hands dirty. If she really goes to take the
company down, there won't be anything I can do about it.
For Specter Corporation's sake, Cooper could only suppress his feelings of discontent. “Very well. I'll take care of
you. What do you need now, Ms. Loake?”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt“I need to get out of the hospital. Go and handle the discharge procedures,” she instructed frostily.
Without wasting any time, Cooper went to look for Sally's attending doctor. He settled the discharge procedures
quickly, and when he returned, he saw that the male bodyguard outside the ward was gone.
He packed Sally's clothes and personal documents, then led her out of the inpatient department.
Sally received a call as soon as she got into the car.
Meanwhile, Cooper got in and drove out of the hospital. It was quiet inside the car, and there was less honking
outside since they were still in the hospital's vicinity. Hence, he could hear the sound of the person on the other end
of the line talking.
After Sally hung up, he suddenly asked her, “Are you looking into what happened on the cruise ship?”
She answered coldly, “Genevieve almost drowned getting into an accident on the cruise ship after I made my move
on her production company. The culprit clearly wants to pin the murder on me, so of course, there's no way I'm
going to take that sitting down. I want to know who dares to use me for their benefit!”
Thanks to her father's position, she can seek the help of practically everyone in Jadeborough's municipal
government. Compared to me, it'd be easier for her to investigate the people on the cruise ship.
Cooper relaxed his furrowed brows and started being a little friendlier to Sally. “Where do you stay?”
Propping her chin on her hand, she answered matter-of-factly, “You're taking care of me, so we're going to your
place, of course.
For lunch, I want to have pork ribs and vegetable stew.”
“Then, I'll take you to get something to eat first—”
“I never eat out. You have hands, don't you? Can't you cook?” she said coldly, cutting him off mid-sentence.
His expression darkened. In an exasperated tone, he replied, “I can't cook.”
“That's your problem. I want to eat those two dishes for lunch. You're a man, yet you can't cook. How shameful!”
Sally retorted unhappily, frowning.
Many men can't cook. How is that shameful?
Cooper forced himself to swallow his anger, reminding himself to be patient for the company's sake and wait until
Sally recovered from her gunshot wound.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmAfter taking her to the apartment he usually stayed in, he texted Golden Restaurant to order the dishes she wanted
to eat.
Meanwhile, Sally surveyed the apartment, wandering down the corridor and entering a bedroom with its door open.
The warm and intoxicating smell of tobacco lingered inside the room.
On the bedside table was a photo frame.
She picked it up and saw that the photo was a selfie of Cooper and a young lady.
The woman was very beautiful. She had one hand resting on his shoulder while her other was holding the camera
to take the selfie. Her lips were curved upward into a faint yet happy smile.
Suddenly, a hand reached out and grabbed the photo frame from Sally.
Frowning, Cooper said in a displeased tone, “Ms. Loake, it's not polite to barge into someone's bedroom and go
through their things.”
“The bedroom door was open, and there aren't many things inside, so I didn't know this was your room.” She
watched as he placed the photo frame back on the bedside table.
Then, she added, “I didn't hear news of your marriage.”
Cooper straightened up. Gazing at the woman in the photo, he felt a suffocating ache in his heart. “It didn't happen.
She passed away...”
When I sensed that strange feeling that day, I should've held onto Jane and not let her leave.
