Chapter 135
Teresa was also infuriated by Sherah's statement. She stood up and declared, "Dad, how about my darling Anna? She's also proven herself to be a perfectly capable leader!"
Everyone began to quarrel amongst each other about who should have been the right person for the job, and in a split second, the entire meeting room erupted into a flurry of activity. Reginald felt as though his head was about the burst, and he smacked his palm against the table to assert his authority.
"Thud!"
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"That's enough! I'm still alive and kicking, and I'm the head of the family! Who do you all think you are?"
Reginald hated it when his children and grandchildren fought among themselves. The Stones were a powerful family that could trace their roots back centuries—not a family who rose to power by chance, and their success lay in their strict foundation of hierarchy and authority. Everyone would have to revert to the head of the family's decision, instead of squabbling among themselves like commoners.
Everyone fell silent upon hearing this. As reluctant as they were, they accepted this and clamped their mouths shut.
"Hey, isn't Celena the one who cup with the idea for this collaboration in the first place? Why didn't anyone ask her?" Someone shouted from among the crowd.
Sherah leaped to her feet and turned to glance at Celena, who was sitting in a corner of the room. "Hey, Celena, what are you doing, sitting there quietly like this? Say something! What should we do about this?"
Immediately everyone's eyes were on Celena, which made her extremely uncomfortable and frightened. She clung to her sleeve nervously and glanced at Liam out of the corner of her eye, then replied in a barely audible whisper, "I don't know. I don't know anything about business, so why don't we-.."
"We should give this to Cheryl, shouldn't we? We're family, after all, so Cheryl will be more than glad to help you out with things that you're not familiar with! Con, she won't take advantage of you. If anything, Qemal can help you too! We can all settle this amongst ourselves, so let's not trouble anyone else outside of us!" Sherah interjected before Celena could even finish her sentence. She even shot Celena a murderous glare for good measure, as though to warn Celena not to do anything out of line.
Celena shuddered at this, then lowered her head. She did not know what to say or what to do. She had been out of the business world for seven years now, being forced to live in survival mode throughout these years, so she did not think she was the best person to dictate any important decisions.

She quickly piped up, "Dad, even though Celena was the one who got us this opportunity, she doesn't have anything to offer to Max Company. In the end, it's us who have to call the shots, and since the whole Stone family is involved, I don't think the working opportunities should be limited to only the first bloodline. The second bloodline should be involved as well!"
"Teresa is right! We members of the third bloodline should be considered, too! Sawyer is a perfectly capable leader, so I don't understand why he wasn't considered for the job," Hayden said rather indignantly.
Reginald's expression darkened. He finally managed to get the meeting in order, and yet just a few minutes later the peace was disrupted once more. He shouted, "Enough! I've already made my
decision, and it is final! No one is allowed to utter a single word of disagreement. You should all be on your best behavior! I don't think I need to remind you just how important this collaboration is to us, and if anything bad happens, you'll have to answer to me!"
Everyone fell silent, and thus the decision was final. Everyone slunk back to their seats with ashen faces.
