Chapter 951 Children Can Be Sensitive Too
The following afternoon, Ning Ran returned to Flower City.
She disguised herself with a hat, mask, and sunglasses, patiently waiting inside the car for approximately thirty
minutes until the kids finished their classes.
Despite that, she hesitated to step out of the vehicle. After instructing the bodyguards to pick up the kids in their
car, she drove a short distance before stopping the car to transfer the children into her vehicle.
“Mommy, I have something to tell you...” Erbao excitedly declared the moment she got into Ning Ran's car.
However, she was cut short by Dabao's cough.
The little girl let out an awkward giggle. “Well, it's nothing.”
Ning Ran glanced at Dabao. “Why won't you let your sister speak? How dare you threaten her in front of me?”
Dabao seemed conflicted. “I'm sorry, Mommy. We promised Daddy to keep it a secret from you.”
Ning Ran nodded in understanding. “You made the right decision. Keeping your promise is important, so there's no
need for you to tell me about it.”
However, Erbao was having trouble keeping the secret. “Mommy, do girls have to keep promises, too?”
Ning Ran suppressed a smile. “Of course. I already know about Daddy's secret matter, though. If you were to tell
me, it wouldn't be breaking your promise because it's not a secret to me anymore. If that's the case, you won't
have to keep it in anymore, right?”
Erbao grew eager. “Oh, that's right. Does that mean I can say it now?”
Dabao shook his head. She really can't keep a secret, can she? In the future, I can't tell her any secrets as she'll
definitely expose them!
However, Erbao remained silent and cast a glance at her brother, waiting for his cue to determine whether she
could disclose the truth.
Dabao waved his hand in exasperation. “Say it if you want. Mommy has already guessed it, anyway.”
“Mommy, did you really figure it out? Do you like the ring? I love it so much! When I grow up, I want a ring like that

Ning Ran seemed confused. Ring? What ring?
She had assumed Erbao was talking about Nan Chen retorting the netizens online using his personal account. That
was why she told the kids she knew their secret.
Nevertheless, she knew nothing about a ring.
Dabao immediately realized something was wrong. Mommy doesn't seem like she knows about it. Oh, no! Erbao
revealed Daddy's secret!
“Oh, yes. You're talking about the ring Daddy bought for me, right? I do love it,” Ning Ran said, deliberately faking a
smile.
Even though Ning Ran had no clue what Erbao was referring to, she had to maintain her composure and play along.
She didn't want Erbao to feel guilty or think that she had accidentally revealed a secret.
“Yes, it's so pretty. But I heard that it'll take a month to make it. That's too long! When the ring is here, are you and
Daddy going to get married? Does that mean you're going to get registered in our household registry, Mommy?”
Erbao asked eagerly.
Erbao displayed her thoughtfulness as she brought up the matter of the household registry.
It was true that both Dabao and Erbao were registered under Nan Chen's name, while Ning Ran was not.
Erbao couldn't shake off the nagging feeling that her mother was somewhat separated from her, given the
difference in their household registration.
After listening to Erbao's words, Ning Ran deduced that Nan Chen had placed an order for a ring on her behalf.
The order had been placed, but the ring was still in the process of being made. Erbao must have seen a picture of
the ring and found it beautiful.
Ning Ran's mind raced with various possibilities as she tried to decipher the situation. She couldn't fathom why Nan
Chen would order a ring without informing her.
Could it be that he initially intended it for someone else but got caught by Erbao and Dabao, leading him to play
along and say it's for me? But who could it possibly be for? Luo Zhiyi? That seems unlikely. Something doesn't add
up, but deep down, I trust Nan Chen and believe he wouldn't do something like that. If the ring is indeed for me,
then is Nan Chen planning a surprise for me? Could he be considering a proposal? That is too big a surprise!
Dabao was a smart boy. As he observed Ning Ran's changing expressions and the complicated look on her face, he
seemed to realize something. “Mommy, you don't actually know about this, do you? The secret you mentioned
earlier is something entirely different, isn't it?”
Ning Ran flashed a smile. “I know about this, but I wasn't sure. I thought your daddy was joking.”
Dabao contemplated for a moment before he made a suggestion. “Can you pretend not to know anything? If Daddy
wants to surprise you, let's keep it mysterious, okay? It will make the surprise even more exciting.”
His suggestion was reasonable, so Ning Ran agreed readily. “Sure, I'll do that.”
Initially, Ning Ran had planned to go to a nearby supermarket to buy some ingredients for dinner. However, Dabao
quickly reminded her of her popularity and the potential of people taking photos of her in public.
“Daddy said you can ask the nanny to get the ingredients you need,” Dabao said.
Ning Ran sighed out loud. You win some and you lose some, huh?
Celebrities often yearned for popularity, but as Ning Ran reflected on her own fame, she realized that it came at a
cost. The simple joys of everyday life, such as personally buying ingredients at the supermarket to prepare dinner
for her children, were now beyond her reach.
She couldn't help but feel a sense of frustration at the limitations imposed by her celebrity status.
Resigned to the circumstances, Ning Ran dialed the nanny's number and provided her with a detailed list of
ingredients to purchase from the supermarket.
That night, Nan Chen returned earlier than usual. Ning Ran was still busy preparing dinner when he arrived.
After changing his clothes, he went to his study room, probably still busy with work. Ning Ran had to shout for him a
few times before he came out to join them for dinner.
As Ning Ran observed his serious demeanor, memories of his clever retorts to the netizens' comments flooded her

Nan Chen couldn't help but notice her frequent glances and the subtle smile playing on her face. He was perplexed.
In the end, he couldn't take it anymore. “If you have something to say, just say it. Stop smiling like a fool.”
Ning Ran put on a stern expression and turned to Erbao. “Am I smiling?”
Erbao observed her carefully. “No!”
“Look, she said I'm not smiling. When did you see me smiling?”
Nan Chen wasn't about to continue this pointless topic. “Are you sure you don't have anything to tell me?”
“Oh, yes. I met Ouyang Qi last night!”
It was a casual question from Nan Chen, as he didn't expect any response from her. Little did he anticipate that
Ning Ran would unveil something of such gravity. His surprise was evident as he asked, “Ouyang Qi? How did you
meet him?”
“According to him, he had made multiple attempts to meet with you, but due to your busy schedule and
unanswered calls, he was unable to do so. Hence, he sought me out to discuss a matter of importance.”
Anger flared within Nan Chen. Did he go to her as I refused to meet him? Never mind if he went to talk to her. Why
did they meet up at night? Was he sure she'd help him as they were close to each other?
Observing Nan Chen's dark expression, Ning Ran couldn't help but wonder if she had inadvertently said something
that had upset him.
However, she couldn't pinpoint what exactly she had said to elicit such a reaction.
Realization dawned, and she hastily interjected, “By the way, Cheng Xiangyun was also present during our
meeting.”
That piece of extra information was indeed important as Nan Chen promptly relaxed.
Erbao eyed him before turning to Ning Ran. “Is Daddy jealous again?”
Nan Chen was speechless.
What does that mean? Jealous again? Do I often get jealous? It's great to have smart kids, but why do they keep
targeting me? Can't they target their mommy instead?
