Chapter 978 A Nickname
After getting into the car, Ning Ran took off her mask.
Nan Chen instructed the driver to head to Commoner Residence to pick the twins up.
Ning Ran surreptitiously studied the man, but she could not discern anything from his face.
He appeared to have been carved out of stone for real, his features perfect and his contour flawless but devoid of
expression.
Most people's emotions showed on their faces. When it came to him, however, he looked just like a statue, stony
and inscrutable.
Nonetheless, she did not believe that he truly felt no emotions when he was merely mortal.
“I have a bold conjecture.” Ning Ran pinned her gaze on Nan Chen.
In turn, Nan Chen looked at her inquisitively.
In a tentative voice, Ning Ran continued, “You were the one who arranged for the paparazzi to photograph us.”
Nan Chen did not reply to that, saying nothing at all.
His silence was tantamount to a tacit admission.
Puzzlement inundated Ning Ran. Why would he do such a thing? What's his motive?
“Why?” she asked bluntly.
Still, Nan Chen remained silent. He was as expressionless as ever, seemingly having no intentions to explain himself.
Such was his personality.
Even so, Ning Ran did not take it to heart. After all, the man's motive would be apparent when the photos came to
light.
Soon, they arrived at Commoner Residence. Ning Ran and Nan Chen alighted from the car together and walked in.
Since they were there, it stood to reason that they had to greet Nan Zhengde and Feng Wan.
After learning about her background, Ning Ran suddenly felt discomfited when she faced the couple.
A sense of guilt haunted her though she never did anything in reality.
Ultimately, some things were destined.

Having bidden Nan Zhengde and Feng Wan good night with Dabao and Erbao, Nan Chen hoisted the latter onto his
shoulders as they all left Commoner Residence.
“Mommy, did you and Daddy secretly go on a date behind our backs again?” Erbao demanded.
Secretly go on a date? That question made Ning Ran feel like she was the child while her daughter was the parent.
Dabao immediately corrected his sister's wording. “Daddy and Mommy went on a date openly. They merely didn't
want us to be the third wheel.”
Despite the amendment, it still implied a sense of resentment that their parents did not bring them along.
“Indeed, your daddy and I went for dinner. We had something to discuss. It wasn't that we disdained you both,”
Ning Ran clarified with a smile.
“What did you two discuss?” Erbao pressed.
At once, Dabao interjected, “Mommy will definitely say that it's an adult matter, so kids should not ask too much,
and you wouldn't understand even if she were to tell you about it.”
Ning Ran was rendered speechless. Gosh, he's getting increasingly glib!
Following that, Erbao giggled away. “You're right, Dabao. Mommy loves saying that! We're not three-year-old kids,
but she still likes to dupe us!”
“Hey, how did I dupe you? Kids shouldn't ask too much about adults' matters in the first place. Although both of you
are exceedingly smart, there are still many things you won't be able to understand. You'll only comprehend in the
future!” Ning Ran stated solemnly.
Dabao nodded in agreement. “You're right, Mommy. It's just like how adults can't understand kids' matters!”
At his remark, words eluded Ning Ran.
How complicated are your matters that I can't understand them? But on second thought, it makes sense. There's
no true sense of empathy in this world. I'm not a kid, so how would I be able to understand him fully?
“All right, then. Therefore, we need to respect each other. Am I right?” she concluded gently.
“Yes. Hence, you don't need to tell us what exactly you discussed with Daddy tonight,” Dabao replied with a bob of
his head.
Once again, Ning Ran found herself at a loss for words.
She abruptly realized that she would probably not be their match anymore in a few years when the twins had both
grown older and possessed more knowledge.
Just then, her phone rang. It was a call from Cheng Xiangyun.
“Whoa! You went out to dinner with Sir Chen tonight?” Cheng Xiangyun shrieked.
“Yeah. You saw it on the internet?” Ning Ran queried.
Surprise promptly flooded Cheng Xiangyun. “So, the two of you knew that you'd been photographed?”
“Yeah. I saw the paparazzi. What did he say in his post?” Ning Ran asked.
“Nothing much, merely that you and Sir Chen are confirmed to be dating.”
Hearing that, Ning Ran chortled. “Isn't that old news? We even have kids together, yet a photo was still needed to
confirm it?”
“Well, Nanshi Corporation's official Weibo account shared the post he published, so everyone thinks it's an official
acknowledgment of your relationship. This matter has already topped the local trending topics. Go and have a look
yourself. The internet is all abuzz!”
“Okay, I'll go and take a look, then. I don't need to do anything, yes?”
“Not at the moment. Just watch the show as well. Remember to read the comments. They're intriguing!”
Exasperation swamped Ning Ran that Cheng Xiangyun was acting like a gossipy bystander despite being her talent
agent.
She tapped on Weibo.
The top local trending topic read: Actress, Ding Mi (Ning Ran), and the CEO of Nanshi Corporation, Nan Chen, are
confirmed to be dating, with the couple photographed holding hands.
That topic was blatantly staged, for entertainment and gossip news merely used her stage name of Ding Mi in the
past.
But this time, a parenthesis was added to specify that Ding Mi was Ning Ran.
It was as though the person who uploaded it was worried that the netizens were only familiar with Ding Mi and not
Ning Ran.
There were already close to a thousand comments below the post. Scanning her eyes over them, Ning Ran found
that they were downright amusing.
One of the comments read: Oh my God, Mi's boyfriend is really a domineering CEO?
Another person typed: I'm so jealous! Not only is she a celebrity, but she even has a domineering CEO pursuing her!

Yet another commented: Mi's CEO is so handsome!
Someone seconded: They're a match made in heaven, suiting each other like a dream! May their love last forever.
Can you introduce a boyfriend like you to me, Mi's CEO?
With that, Nan Chen suddenly had a nickname on the internet, dubbed “Mi's CEO” by netizens.
Whenever a piece of news leaked out, there were those who offered well wishes. On the other hand, there were
also bound to be haters or trolls who did the exact opposite.
One hater commented: As I've said, Ding Mi only secured her boyfriend by selling her body. Am I not proven right
now?
Another vitriolic comment read: Mr. Nan is blind to date an actress!
Yet another caustic comment said: Mr. Nan's unrivaled handsomeness is all going to waste! Is Ding Mi even worthy
of him?
Nevertheless, there were netizens countering and riposting those nasty remarks by haters.
The most intriguing comments were that of some of the male netizens.
One of them typed: It's unforgivable that you stole my wife! I hereby declare war on you, Nan Chen!
Another one commented: I'll fight you to the death for stealing my goddess, you scoundrel, Nan Chen!
And another one read: Nan Chen is already rich, yet he still wanted to steal my wife! I'm going to boycott Nanshi
Corporation!
As Ning Ran scrolled through the comments, she burst out laughing.
Undeniably, the internet was an interesting place. If anyone were to curse Nan Chen out in such a manner in the
real world, the consequences would likely be rather devastating.
However, things were different online. There was nothing the man could do when the netizens castigated him.
In a way, the internet closed the distance between classes. In that virtual environment, at the very least, everyone
was equal.
When Nan Chen saw her grinning away, he jerked his head back and snatched her phone over for a look.
Upon glimpsing the male netizens censuring him, he likewise found it peculiar.
It was rare that someone dared to criticize him, but many were doing so on the internet without an ounce of mercy.
Hmm, it turns out that she has so many male fans, and they're referring to her as their wife. How audacious! No,
I've got to have the team control the comments. These people can't be allowed to call her such, not even if it's
untrue!
