Lu Lixing grabbed hold of her wrist. “You wanted to eat the Napoleon Wrasse, so I’ll make sure you’ll definitely get to eat it.”
Ji Qingqing raised her eyebrows and declared the Grouper. “Alright then, I’ll let you off today!”
Then, Lu Lixing stood up. Keeping an eye on the pan at the stove, he followed the video and poured the oil before heating it.
As he lacked experience, he did not heat the pan dry before pouring the oil. Once it got heated, the oil immediately started crackling explosively and a couple of droplets splashed on Lu Lixing’s white shirt.
Ji Qingqing looked around and found an apron in one of the kitchen’s cupboards. After shaking it out, she called Lu Lixing over. “Come here, I’ll help you wear it.”
It was a pink apron patterned with small, light blue flowers. Lu Lixing took one look and firmly rejected it. “I’m not wearing this!”
“There’s oil on your shirt, it’ll be difficult to wash off later.”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt“If it’s difficult to wash, I’ll just throw it.”
Ji Qingqing sighed.
Lu Lixing really is a distinguished young master, a shirt worth 5 or 6 figures could be thrown away so easily.
But then again, with so much fortune, throwing a shirt or two meant nothing to him.
“You didn’t pack much clothes when you came here, if you throw them then you’ll have nothing to wear.”
Lu Lixing thought back to the pitiful number of shirts left in the closet and fell silent.
Ji Qingqing walked behind him. She started to adjust the apron on him and proceeded to tie the apron’s string at the back for him.
Lu Lixing looked down at the pink apron he was wearing and helplessly resigned himself. He picked up the plate of shrimps and poured it into the oil-coated pan.
As the shrimp entered the sizzling oil, a couple of drops splashed out and spattered on the apron.
“There, you won’t be getting your clothes dirty now.”
Lu Lixing expressionlessly stirred the spatula. As the shrimps cooked under the high temperature, they started turning red. Following the steps in the video, Lu Lixing poured some cooking wine to remove the fishy smell. He continued to flip and fry the shrimps for a while before pouring the corn inside.
The smell of frying corn instantly filled the room.
“Smells good.” The tantalizing smell provoked Ji Qingqing’s appetite. When she stepped closer and took a whiff, a single corn kernel flew out from the pan and hit the back of her hand.
“Si——” Ji Qingqing sucked in a cold breath and covered the back of her hand.
“What’s wrong?”
“It’s nothing, it’s nothing,” she released her grip revealing the back of her hand which had turned red. “It’ll be fine after a few seconds.”
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmLu Lixing grabbed her hand to take a look.
Ji Qingqing’s skin was white and fair. Typically, a slight knock or bump could leave a bruise. Now, after being scalded by the corn kernel, a small red patch had formed. Lu Lixing pulled her before the tap and ran cold water over it.
“I’m fine. It doesn’t hurt.”
Lu Lixing did not budge and kept his grip on her hand. “Let it run longer.”
Ji Qingqing strongly felt that this distinguished young master was just simply overreacting as he had seldom encountered situations like this before. He doesn’t even know the hardships of life. That small red patch was nothing serious and there was no need to create such a huge fuss over it.
“Don’t worry, It’ll be gone soon… What smell is that?” Ji Qingqing sniffed the air, “The shrimps!”
Ji Qingqing pulled her hand out. The shrimps behind her were more or less burnt and about to catch fire. Lu Lixing immediately turned off the flame. The two of them grimaced as they looked at the pan of slightly burnt shrimps.
“It’s fine, look, there’s quite a number that aren’t burnt. Let’s take out the burnt ones first.” Lu Lixing had a feeling that if he had to remake another batch of Shrimp with Sweetcorn and peel the corn and shrimps again, he would probably go crazy.
He proceeded to carefully pick out the burnt corn and shrimps. “See? It’s fine now. Do I add the salt?”
“Not yet.”
Ji Qingqing went to get the salt, it was kept in a tiny transparent seasoning bottle at the corner of the stove. Sweeping a brief glance at it, she picked it up and sprinkled a little into the pan.
