Chapter 595 Noelle felt a slight sense of satisfaction seeing Cedric's dark expression. She turned and walked toward the elevator without another word.
Soon, she heard steady footsteps following her, and she did not even need to look to know who it was. The elevator doors opened, and she stepped inside. From the corner of her eye, she saw Cedric enter as well, standing right next to her.
They stood close, with just a fist's distance between them. The elevator was silent, and Noelle glanced up at the reflection in the doors, accidentally meeting Cedric's intense gaze. She quickly looked away.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtNoelle could still feel his eyes on her, but she refused to meet his stare. Cedric watched her with a mix of frustration and helplessness, his gaze lingering on her delicate profile. He had not slept well these past few days, haunted by the memory of her angry face when she broke up with him.
He had never felt so desperate in his life, yet he could not do anything to change her mind. Before he could figure out what to say, the elevator doors opened, and Noelle walked out without looking back.
Cedric, who was annoyed and frustrated, hurried after her. He said, "Wait, letdrive you back." "No need, Mr. Greene. There are plenty of cabs around. It's convenient," Noelle replied, her tone and expression distant as she turned to face him.
Cedric felt a pang of frustration and took a deep breath. He insisted, "I need to talk to you." "I think we've said everything there is to say," Noelle shot back, turning to leave. But Cedric pulled her back, and she stumbled into his arms.
She tried to struggle, but his grip was firm. She gritted her teeth and hissed, "Cedric!" "I'm here," he replied calmly.
"You're shameless," Noelle muttered.
Cedric did not respond. Shameless or not, he would rather be called that than let her walk away. Just then, a luxury car pulled beside them, and the window rolled down.
"Ms. Liddell," a voice called out.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmNoelle looked up and saw Salena inside the car. Flustered, she pushed Cedric away with enough force that he nearly stumbled.
Cedric was caught off guard and glared at the woman in the car. His tone was laced with irritation as he asked, "Mrs. Cantrell, what can I do for you?" If Salena had not shown up, he would have already convinced Noelle to get into his car. Of all times, why did she have to show up now? Salena, noticing Cedric's displeasure, realized she might have interrupted something. At first, she had not even realized that the man hugging Noelle was Cedric.
1.n After the incident at L Bistro, Emma must have figured out who the girl Cedric was protecting was. Salena could not help but wonder why. Emma had not done anything about it. Nonetheless, seeing how fiercely Cedric stood by Noelle, it seemed breaking them apart would not be easy.
Salena apologized, "I'm sorry, Mr. Greene. I didn't realize you were here. I just needed to speak with Ms. Liddell about something."
Noelle was curious about what Salena could possibly want to talk to her about. After all, they had only met once before. She walked over and asked, "What did you want to discuss, Salena?"
"I heard the Liddells have an adopted daughter named Xenia Quigley. She seems quite close to your brothers, especially Donovan, who's cleaned up her messes more than once," Salena said pointedly. Noelle understood what Salena was implying. She smiled and replied, "As
you probably know, my parents passed away in a car accident, and Xenia's father, who was their driver, also died Donovan took Xenia in and raised her in the Liddell household. They've always been close, and he's protective of her." "Protective? More like obsessed," Cedric interjected, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "If I didn't know Xenia was his adopted sister, I'd think Donovan had feelings for her." Salena frowned and argued, "Donovan doesn't strikeas the type to blur those lines." If he were, the Cantrells would not have considered him as a potential for their matrilocal arrangement.
Cedric's expression turned icy. "Mrs. Cantrell, if you look into it, you'll see the Liddells' favoritism isn't just rumors. It's all true." Salena fell silent, considering her words. Cedric continued, "If your family is serious about choosing someone for your matrilocal arrangement, I suggest you reevaluate his character."
