Chapter 350

Hearing that, Quinita slapped her forehead. “Oh, no. I'm so forgetful. It’s late. Elysia should be asleep. | can’t

wake her up.”

She quickly turned around and got back into bed. Edward watched her with a smile but said nothing.

Meanwhile, Elysia was lying in bed, holding her phone. She was video-calling Phoebe.

“Elysia, you leftagain!” Phoebe complained, pouting.

Elysia chuckled, sitting up a little. “What do you mean ‘again? This was an emergency. | didn’t have tto

explain. But hey, if you really missthat much, I'll cback right now.”

Phoebe lazily waved her hand and said, “Forget it. If you really cback to Royal Bay just for me, your parents

would freak out. And don’t even get started on your brothers. They're not exactly easy to handle.”

“Don’t worry. They're all super chill,” Elysia said, trying to reassure her.

Phoebe teased, “Elysia, it sounds like you're trying to setup with one of your brothers.”

At that, Elysia sat up in bed, her eyes bright. “Well, it's not impossible. So, which one of my brothers are you

into?”

Phoebe’s face turned bright red instantly. She stared at Elysia, shaking her head. “Why would you askthat?

Ugh, forget it. I'm not talking to you anymore.”

With that, Phoebe ended the call.

Elysia wasn’t mad at all. She couldn't help but smile. If Phoebe married one of her brothers, it'd feel like family

again.

She wondered which of her brothers would be the best match for Phoebe.

Fabian was deep and thoughtful. Javier was gentle and classy. Yehoshua was quiet but strong. Holden was

relaxed and easygoing.

That thought stuck with Elysia all night, and she didn’t fall asleep until the early hours.

The next morning, she was jolted awake by the clanging of pots and pans.

Rubbing her tired eyes, Elysia pushed herself out of bed. She walked down the hallway, still groggy. In the

kitchen, Quinita was standing in front of the stove, wearing an apron, holding a spatula, and trying to manage a

pot with both hands.

If it weren't for the fact that she had to keep stirring the food, Quinita would've happily stepped back-anything to

avoid getting too close to it.

Suddenly, a drop of hot oil splattered out of the pan, hitting her wrist. She jerked back, wincing in pain and

clutching the burn.

Edward, who was rinsing vegetables, immediately dropped the basket he was holding. In a few quick steps, he

was at her side, concern flashing across his face as his eyes landed on her wrist. It felt like a sharp pang in his

chest.

“I told you I'd take care of this. Why didn’t you listen?” His voice was soft but laced with worry. He gently blew on

her burn, hoping to soothe it. “Does it hurt?”

Quinita winced, but she shook her head. “I just wanted to make breakfast for Elysia. How could I let you do it?”

Edward raised an eyebrow. “What's the difference between you andmaking it?”

Quinita’s expression grew serious. “Well, of course, there's a difference! Other kids get to eat breakfast made by

their moms. Elysia should too.”

Edward couldn't help but smile at the sincerity in her voice, his frustration melting into affection. He found her

determination both endearing and a little funny.

He had no idea where the sudden idea to cook breakfast cfrom. She’d woken up this morning, all fired up

about making breakfast for Elysia. The problem was that she’d never really cooked before.

She didn’t even know how to use half the appliances in the kitchen.

Still, if she was set on doing it, he was more than happy to help. The kitchen was right there in the suite.

But then things started going sideways. Quinita struggled with everything. When it becclear she was in over

her head, he thought about stepping in and taking charge, but she wouldn't hear of it. She insisted on being the

head chef.

Now, looking back, he realized he should've stopped her earlier. But it was too late now. Elysia was the one

who'd end up with whatever breakfast they had managed to make.

His gaze fell to the burnt toast sitting on the counter, and a worried frown crossed his face. He couldn't help but

wonder if this breakfast would be a total disaster or somehow, miraculously, a gift for Elysia.

Meanwhile, Elysia stood by the wall with her arms crossed, watching the whole thing with a grin on her face.

But as the strange smell of burnt food filled the air, her grin faded. Her eyes darted between the pot in front of

Quinita and the couple beside her, who were so wrapped up in each other.

‘Did they seriously not notice I'm standing right here?‘ Elysia thought.

Elysia rubbed her forehead. She had wanted to remind them, but she couldn't bring herself to interrupt. With a

sigh, she walked over to Quinita and casually flipped off the appliance switch.

Then they noticed her. Quinita’s face turned a shade of red as if she'd just realized something. She quickly

yanked her hand away from Edward's and looked flustered. “Elysia, when did you get here?”

“Just now,” Elysia replied, her tone light.

“Just now?” Quinita sniffed the air, her brows knitting together. “What's that smell?”

Her eyes landed on the pot, and she immediately understood what had happened. “How did this-” she screamed.

She glanced at Edward and complained, “This is your fault. If you hadn't been holding my hand and staring at

my wrist for so long, the pot wouldn't have burned!”

Edward didn’t get upset. He gently wrapped an arm around her, trying to calm her down. “It’s okay. I'll make a

new one. If we're short on ingredients, I'll ask the kitchen for more.”

Quinita’s mood lightened just a little. “Okay, then grab two more eggs for me.”

“Got it.” Edward turned to leave, but before he could take a step, Quinita grabbed Elysia’s hand, her expression

guilty. “Elysia, don’t worry. Mom will make it again. It'll be ready soon.”

Elysia smiled, knowing that Quinita had been making breakfast for her, and she was about to agree when her

eyes fell on the burnt toast. She remembered how she'd been splashed with oil earlier and realized that Quinita

probably wasn’t used to cooking.

So, with a spark of excitement in her eyes, she held onto Quinita’s hand. “Mom, letdo it. I'll cook for you,

okay?”

Quinita blinked, surprised. “Elysia, you can cook?”

“Of course, | can” Elysia said in a sweet voice, grinning widely, her eyes turning into crescent moons. “And I'm

really good at it. | can also cook for you”

“But...” Quinita hesitated, opening her mouth to protest. Before she could get another word out, Elysia

interrupted, her voice playful. “Mom...” she said, leaning a little closer. “Just say yes, okay?”

Unable to resist her daughter's soft, pleading tone, Quinita sighed and nodded.

Elysia stood up straighter, carefully moving the burnt pan aside. She opened the cupboard and pulled out a

special frying pan with four small, round compartments.

“This is...” Quinita started to ask.

“For frying eggs,” Elysia explained with a smile.

At that moment, Edward returned with the eggs. Elysia smoothly took them from him, drizzled soil into the

small pans, and cracked the eggs gently into the round sections.

Watching her work so smoothly, neither of them felt at ease. Instead, their faces clouded with concern and

SOIToW.

Their daughter, who should never have had to lift a finger, was cooking with such ease-it was a clear sign that

she must have suffered a lot in the past.

Edward's heart twisted. If only he had trusted his gut a little more back then, maybe his daughter would've come

sooner.

It wouldn't have taken him eighteen years to find her. It was just too long.
