Chapter 778 Adam was pleased with Brad's response. "I hope you don't just say that. Any promise made that isn't kept is considered a lie. You need to mean what you say, Brad." His face flushed from coughing, and under the watchful gaze of the strict nurse, Adam didn't dare say a word and simply complied by putting on the oxygen mask. After leaving the ICU, she stood outside the glass doors and waved at Adam, her mind already turning over ways she could make more tto visit him. Lost in her thoughts, she got into the car absentmindedly, failing to notice a car barreling toward her.

Fortunately, Brad was quick on his feet and pulled her back just in time. Nadine fell straight into his strong embrace, the impact causing her nose to sting. Initially, she thought it was just one of his pranks, but when she broke free from the man's embrace and saw what was in front of her, she was taken aback.

A silver-gray, unlicensed seven-seater van had sped past, almost grazing her arm. If Brad hadn't pulled her back, she would have been clipped by the van's side mirror or worse. No one could predict what might have happened next.

Once he confirmed that she was alright, Brad picked Sean up from the ground and asked softly, "Are you alright? Does it hurt anywhere?" The little boy, shielded by the two adults, hadn't seen what had happened. Instead, he was amused at how his father had pulled Nadine into his embrace.

Sean looked at Brad with his big, bright eyes and said, "I'm fine! But that was so cool, Daddy! You pulled Mommy into your arms like a superhero!" Sean could tell that his dad liked his mom. He didn't need Brad to spell it out for him. But it was clear that Nadine didn't feel the sway about Brad, and it worried him.

Brad pinched the little boy's soft cheek and smiled. "I'll be even cooler in the future. Do you believe me?" Sean nodded enthusiastically, his eyes brimming with admiration for him.

After reassuring Sean and confirming he was fine, Brad helped him into the car and shut the door. He then turned to Nadine and asked, "Are you okay? Should we get you checked out at the hospital?" The unlicensed van that had just sped by was clearly targeting Nadine. This was a scheme, to be precise aimed at the Hamiltons. Nadine's pulse was still racing, her breaths coming in short bursts. Clutching her chest, she remained silent for a moment before asking, "Was that car afteror your family?" Brad's gaze darkened as he glanced in the direction the silver-gray van had vanished into. "I'm not sure. I'll have someone look into it." Nadine had regained her composure and was gripping her palm tightly to keep her knees from buckling. "Did you see that, Brad?
