Chapter 286
Donna glanced reluctantly at the emerald brooch, keeping up her pitiful act. "Morgan is really nice to you. | wish |
had a big brother like him." she sighed.
Yasmine chuckled, "Well, you might just have to keep dreaming because your mom can't exactly conjure up a
brother for you. Unless, maybe your dad..." She paused for effect. "Just kidding."
Donna's temples throbbed as she fumed internally, 'How could she speak about my father like that? She never
used to be like this, but she'll regret it soon.
While Donna was checking out the jewelry, Yasmine slipped into the fitting room to examine her dress. The seam
on the back waistline was coming undone. It was fine for now, but in another thirty minutes, it would split open,
leaving her utterly mortified. Quickly, she grabbed another dress with a similar pattern, thinking back to how she
had just made Donna You get what you give, she thought.
The designer dress lay discarded on the side, and Donna gazed at it, full of envy.
"Do you want to try it on?" Yasmine asked out of the blue, already knowing what Donna was thinking.
ange earlier.
Donna lit up with excitement. The dress was tailored and much prettier than the one she had on. "Can I try it
on?" she asked eagerly.
"Go ahead," Yasmine said, tossing the dress over to her.
Donna couldn't wait to put on the dress. She admired herself in the mirror, thinking she looked more beautiful by
the second. She thought, 'After all, how could Yasmine outshinein such a dress?'
The Starlight Stage was the largest theater in Marineville, and Brielle was a celebrated actress. Every
performance of his was a full house, with not a single empty seat. Securing a box seat ticket was no small feat.
As they entered the private box, Yasmine realized why Donna had gone through so much hassle. Inside, apart
from the two of them, was another person-Caleb Mayfield. He was the sguy she had met at the Sanchez
residence, the sole heir of the Mayfield family. "Ms. Sanchez, here we are again," Caleb said, standing up and
extending his hand for a handshake.
Yasmine shot him a cold glance, "Hello, Mr. Caleb," she thought, If | had known he would be here, | wouldn't have

Yasmine admired the performance; everyone in Soucrity praised Brielle's work. She wanted to enjoy it quietly,
but the other two in the box seemed to have other plans.
"Caleb, give this a try," Donna said, placing a pastry in front of him with a shy smile. She didn't forget to turn to
Yasmine "Yasmine, you should have stoo."
Just as Yasmine was about to eat, she noticed Caleb's expression darken. Choosing to ignore it, she returned her
focus to the stage.
Caleb stared at Yasmine with a gleam in his eye, almost voicing the dirty thoughts running through his mind.
Donna noticed Yasmine wasn't reacting, which annoyed her a bit. After all, she had set up this whole stage for
her today. Filled with excitement, she got up and moved over to Yasmine. Yasmine, why aren't you chatting with
Caleb?" "There's really nothing to say. If you broughthere just to see Caleb, then countout." She was

Caleb's face turned cold, "Who do you think you
are? Don't act like you don't know what Aunt Ivette means. We both know it. You're a divorced woman; you're
lucky I'm still interested in you."
"Ha," Donna chuckled with growing smugness, "Yasmine, don't take Caleb's words too seriously. He was just
upset."
Yasmine laughed dismissively, "Instead of worrying about me, maybe you should take a good look in the mirror."
"What do you mean?" Donna asked with a frown, sensing something was wrong. A chill ran down her spine as
she noticed the threads on her shoulder had cundone, revealing much of her back.
"Oh no." Donna quickly crossed her arms to cover her chest. She shot a glare at Yasmine, then turned with a mix
of anger and embarrassment to Caleb. "I need to hit the restroom."
She had barely taken a few steps when she twisted her ankle and nearly fell. Caleb was quick to catch her,
steadying her. "Here, let me," he said, draping his jacket over her shoulders. Donna leaned into Caleb, throwing a
sheepish glance at Yasmine.
"Caleb, I'll go sort myself out. You stay here and keep Yasmine company," she said, her eyes flashing with a cold
glimmer.
A dark look flickered over Caleb's eyes. "Alright, get back soon."
With the booth door closed behind her, she took a sip of her coffee.
Caleb inched closer to Yasmine, accidentally brushing against her hand. "Yasmine," he started, "as a grown-up,
you have to know what Aunt Ivette is suggesting, right?" "And what is that supposed to mean?" Yasmine retorted
with a smirk.
Caleb chuckled, "She wants to play matchmaker with us. Surely, you picked up on that?"
"I'll straighten things out with Aunt Ivette," Yasmine replied firmly.
"What exactly?" Caleb challenged, inching even closer to Yasmine, and almost draping his hand over her arm.
"Why not spend stwithand see where it goes?" "Don't touch me," Yasmine snapped, swiftly pulling
away and casting Caleb a look of disdain.
Caleb's face darkened immediately. He grabbed her wrist tightly and snarled, "Don't be so ungrateful. A woman
who's been married should be appreciative when a man shows interest. If | were you, I'd feel lucky." Yasmine
jerked her hand free. "Get lost."
Caleb was incensed, gradually moving closer to Yasmine. Each box was designed to keep the concert hall quiet
with special soundproof materials. Once the door was shut tight, only a huge racket would penetrate the walls.
"Did you actually tellto leave? You obnoxious woman," Caleb shouted, lunging forward.
A piercing scream echoed, but none of the attendants outside the box dared to enter. The manager just gave a
dismissive glance, saying, "Get back to work, why are you standing around? Quickly, the attendants dispersed.
Inside the box, Yasmine, still rattled, looked at Caleb sprawled on the floor, with Yonas, standing protectively in
front of her.

"What are you doing here?" they both asked in unison, surprised to see each other.
Yonas gave Caleb a cold stare. "Who is he?"
Yasmine looked annoyed, "He's from the Mayfield family."

"Never heard of the Mayfield family," Yonas remarked. It wasn't surprising since the Mayfields weren't well-
known in Soucrity. Yonas's eyes scanned the room eagerly; it had been ages since he'd last seen Yasmine.

Suddenly, there was a frantic voice from outside, "Hey, Yasmine, are you okay?" The door flew open as Donna
rushed in, "Yasmine, I'm back." Her voice was full of excitement, her eyes dancing with hope. Yasmine glanced
back in surprise. Yonas took a step back, trying to stay out of sight.
"You're... you're okay?" Donna's smile faded when she noticed the man lying on the floor. "He, he..."
"Are you disappointed I'm not hurt?" Yasmine asked in a low, steady tone, feeling only disgust as she looked at
Donna.
"What are you saying, Yasmine? I'm just concerned about you. What's wrong with my cousin?" Donna feigned
surprise as she crouched down to inspect the man.
Yasmine sneered, "Morgan was trying to pour scoffee and ended up fainting because he couldn't steady
himself."
Donna turned the person over. "Morgan."
Yonas glanced at Yasmine, then at Caleb who was lying on the ground.
"Yasmine, how could Morgan just faint on his own? Did you knock him out?" Donna accused.
