"What's your name?" Kana finally asked. She had not asked the young man's name this entire time because she wanted to wait until he was calmed down some more.
"Ti-Tim..." Tim replied, feeling somewhat shy when he looked at Kana's sincere expression.
"Okay, Tim, what is your sister's name?" Kana asked.
"Sara..." Time answered, lowering his head.
"Then, Tim, would you and Sara like to come live with me?" Hearing Kana's question, Tim looked up at Kana, trying to figure out if she was messing with him or not. But all he saw was her eyes full of seriousness, making him wonder if Kana was, in fact, an angel. She did have a faint halo hanging on one of her horns and wings that made her look just like an angel.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"Are you really willing to take us in?" Tim asked, his eyes filled with hope, but he still had his doubts as he continued. "Even if you only take my sister in, that is fine too. As long as she is able to live a life without worry as her older brother, that is more than I could ever as..."
Before he could finish speaking, he found himself pulled into a warm embrace. Kana's heart had completely melted. This young boy was willing to give up everything to make sure his sister had a better life. How could she not feel for this little boy who was trying his best? "I would never just take your sister. As a brother, you need to grow up strong and be there to protect your sister. Now let's go meet your sister and tell her the good news, okay?"
"Mmm... " Tim lowered his head. He was trying hard to hold back his tears. He took a few deep breaths before pushing Kana back and knelt down. "I can never thank you enough. Even if you were to use me as a slave, as long as my sister can grow up healthy and happy, I would not care what you asked me to do."
"Hehe… Kana, I have a feeling Little Bell will fall in love with this little boy and pamper him to the ends of the earth along with his sister." Aoi giggled. She liked this little kid a lot. He had never thought of just himself. All of his words included his sister. One could tell he cared deeply for his sister and really wanted her to have a good life.
"No one will be turned into a slave. Come on. We are wasting time while your sister is waiting." Kana clapped her hands and got things together before having Tim lead the way.
Tim said they were very close to where he and his sister had been hiding out. They made their way through the woods which were covered in thorny thickets, but Tim moved through them effortlessly, not even flinching when he was scrapped by one. After ten minutes, they were about to exit this thicket when they heard a young girl scream. "Noo! Don't eat me!"
Kana's body flashed and disappeared as she sped on ahead. She knew she did not need to say a word to Aoi, and the rest before she left, she knew they would take care of Tim. What she saw when she reached the spot where she had heard the screaming coming from was a young girl running towards her as fast as she could. Her leg was wounded with what looked to be claw marks. Behind the girl was a humanoid figure with a lion's head walking leisurely as he laughed while watching the young girl's futile struggle.
"Sara!" Kana yelled out as she teleported right to the little girl and scooped her up into her arms.
Sara was shivering in fear in Kana's arms even as she tried to escape Kana's embrace. "Please don't eat me. I am not a good meal!"
"Sara, calm down. You will be fine, I promise." Kana held the girl tightly to her chest and patted her head. This seemed to slowly calm her down, but she was still shivering in fear.
Seeing Sara's hurt leg and the blood still dripping down it caused Kana's eyes to turn cold as she looked up at the Lion demi human. "You would go as far as to harm a little girl!?"
"It's nothing more than a human. Now hand her over, she was my prey first." The lion demi was not in the best of moods. He had not eaten in a few days and had just stumbled on a perfect feast, but another demi actually showed up and snatched it away!
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"Humph!" Kana snorted and tossed a ball of flame at the lion demi. The Lion demi didn't even have time to react before he found himself set on fire. He let out an agonizing scream before falling to the ground, trying to put the flames out.
"Sara!" Tim yelled out when he saw Kana holding his sister.
Hearing her brother's voice caused Sara to struggle as much as she could, trying to get out of Kana's grasp, but Kana did not put her down, even when Sara bit her. "Tim, tell your sister to calm down. She is hurt."
"Sara, behave and listen to Kana!" Tim heard the word hurt and immediately became worried.
Sara immediately stopped struggling after her brother yelled at her. She would only ever listen to her brother. She knew her brother gave up so much to take care of her. So she has always listened to everything he has told her. Even if it meant getting hurt in the process. Like how he told her if a demi ever found her to run towards the thickets even if it hurts, push through it as it would be her only chance of survival.
"That's better. Sara, your leg is really hurt, so we need to treat it okay? I will be taking you and your brother to a place where you can live much better lives." Kana wiped the tears from the little girl's eyes and then brushed her hair behind her ears before saying softly. "We will first get your wound taken care of, then get you cleaned up before giving you a nice hot meal. What do you think?"
Sara's eyes lit up when she heard the word food. She obediently nodded her head. "Mmm!"
