"Kana, are you really heading out?" Mei Ling looked at Kana, feeling reluctant to part with her. Mei Ling was still young and sought that warmness that came from a mother. Kana had that warmness that she so sought after, which was why she was always trying to be close to Kana. It could be said to be an instinct she couldn't control.
Kana reached out and placed her hand on Mei Ling's head. "I will be back before the entrance test. You behave and cultivate. I expect you to be the same cultivation as the sect master when I return."
"How am I supposed to do that when I am only in the qi gathering realm!" Mei Ling puffed out her cheeks, but the lips that were turning down were now turned upwards in a big smile. She hugged Kana tightly before quickly letting go. "Make sure you come back, or else I will come looking for you."

"Be careful. Unlike the places we have been to, you have much more to watch out for. Kana, you are a kind person and do not know the cruelty of this world. People will put on a smile and get you to trust them just to turn their backs on you and kill you when you least expect it. If myself and everyone else were not good people, you would have not even have made it out of those woods. You are someone I admire and tr-respect." Liu Na changed her words. It was not right to say outright that she treasured Kana. She knew such feelings would never go anywhere. She had heard it loud and clear. Kana has a husband that she loves very much. She would never try to squeeze in there, especially since Kana did not seem to think of such things. But she would change those feelings into something more akin to family and look after Kana and work hard to not fall behind in her cultivation, in case there comes a day she is truly needed.
"Don't worry. After everything that has happened, my eyes have been opened up. This journey will be a solo one, and I will not fall victim to anyone's tricks." Kana did not wish to get close to many people because one day, she would need to leave. To be close to Liu Na and Mei Ling was enough. While she was friends with Shi Yu, Gu Tianzi, and Yi Tan, she only saw them as close acquaintances.
"Then I will be waiting here for your return."
"Is what you say true? That demon girl is leaving today?" Elder Ye had just returned to Moon Crest Academy when one of his people sent word. "Haha! Good! I will like to see how this demon girl will live after I am done with her."
Elder Ye did not waste any time. He quickly turned around and left, heading towards the main gate. He only got halfway through the city when he suddenly found himself surrounded. "Elder Ye, where do you think you are going?"
Elder Ye's face turned black. He knew this man in black clothes was one of the elites under the sect master's command. "This old man is just going for a stroll."
"Then you should stroll back to the sect where you can begin doing your duty as a law enforcement elder. Are you not supposed to be investigating what actually happened today? Do you really think you have time to be going out for a stroll?" The man in black sneered. He never heard of such a stupid excuse as: 'I am going out for a stroll.'
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"You! Fine!" Elder Ye gritted his teeth. But he did not dare cause any more trouble. He would just have to bide his time and wait until the demon girl enters the sect, then he can really teach her a lesson. With a snort and a wave of his sleeve, Elder Ye flew back towards Moon Crest Academy.
Kana had said her goodbyes to Mei Ling and Liu Na and was now strolling down the road of the capital. She had her hands behind her back as she walked. While some people gave her curious looks, no one tried to cause her any trouble. She had also seen a few other races walking around that were not human. Divine beasts were rare, but there were races that were no longer able to form beast cores and had a dantian instead. What made people curious was that Kana's features were truly unique. But it was these stares that made Ako not want to come out of her contract space.
Kana had no idea where she should be heading. She only knew she was heading out in hopes of finding something to help her breakthrough. Only then could she try to charge towards qi gathering.
A few hours later, Kana stood outside the city and looked out over the land that was a vast valley set between two large mountain ranges. At the same time, a white light shot out of her body as Ako's body materialized. "As you asked, I have suppressed my cultivation to the qi gathering realm. But Master, are you sure about this?"
"Mmm… I need to breakthrough, and if you are walking around with your real cultivation base, then you will end up scaring everything away. I won't be able to get any opportunities to do so." Kana did not wish for Ako to assist her at all during this journey. She wanted to experience everything that came at her, whether it was dangerous or not. "Just remember not to act unless I ask you to."
"I will do as Master says." Ako hated being unable to help at all, so she pumped her fist and decided she would at least make sure her Master could stay comfortable during this journey!
The road ahead was going to be long, but it was a journey that Kana needed to go on. She could only hope that by the time she returned, she would be in the qi gathering realm, which was a requirement of joining Moon Crest Academy. If not, she would need to make a new plan.. But what the future held, no one knew for sure.
