Kana walked with her hands behind her back as her tail swayed side to side. She was currently walking down the road that would lead to Temple Forest. Her only problems at this time were where her friends would be waiting and how to explain her current situation.
"Should I tell them I am some kind of princess with powers that were sealed?" Kana tapped her chin, wondering what kind of story she should make up. "Princess… Princess…. Oh, what if I was a princess knight? Wait, does this world even have knights? Probably not…"
Kana pursed her lips as she tried to come up with a better story. She couldn't say anything about gods or the like because that seems to be wiped out of people's memories. Only Ako was able to know who she truly was due to their contract.
"Well, I guess I could just say it's something I was born with and was sealed off and when fighting the big snake. I ended up accidentally unsealing a portion of it." Kana felt this was the best backstory, but now that she had a story, she was once again bored. She did not realize this story was not inline with what she told Nana when they first met.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtKana walked half a day when she saw a small clearing on the side of the road that had smoke rising into the air. She sniffed the air but did not smell any meat, so she was a little disappointed, but she still walked towards where the smoke was coming from.
She got only a few meters away when a voice yelled out happily: "Kana! Thank the heavens you okay!"
Fei came running at her at top speed with Nana hot on her tail. Kana sighed and yelled out: "Don't touch me!"
The two girls stopped about a meter away from Kana and gave her a confused look. Kana sighed once more and allowed her death element to flow out of her at its normal pace. She then bent down and plucked a flower which instantly withered and turned to dust in her hand. "If you touch me, you will end up like this flower."
"What? What happened!?" Fan yelled as he walked up. "How did this happen? Were you not fine when we left you?"
"It's due to a seal on my body that was holding in what is called, death element. I was born with this. I am basically walking death. Anything that touches me will die. They will wither up and turn to dust like the flower just now. I can restrict it for the most part, but it will still cause harm to those around me if they touch me. I can understand if you do not wish to travel with me anymore. I am like a ticking time bomb that might kill any one of you by accident." Kana explained. She was unsure if it made sense to them, but this was the best way she could think of explaining it to them.
Nana and the rest were shocked by what Kana was saying. "So you're saying you can kill things just by touching them?"
"As far as I know, yes. I do not know if there are those of a higher cultivation that can resist it or not, though. But sorry, it may be best for us to split up here. I only came to let you all know I was okay." Kana did not like goodbyes, but she did not wish for any accidents. So after saying this, she turned to walk away.
It was best for her to split up and walk a new path. A path that may be lonely, but at least she would not harm those close to her. This was the decision she came up with as she traveled here. The more she thought about it, the more she felt this was the right choice. She did not want to be the cause of pain for those around her.
"Rejected!" Nana suddenly shouted. "So what if we can not get any closer than this? We just have to stay a little ways away, right? Fine, we can do that. But you are not allowed to turn and walk away from us when you have such a sad expression on your face!"
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmKana stopped her steps, reached up, and touched her face. It felt slightly damp. Without her knowing, she was shedding tears. She had so many memories of her past lives that were of nothing but sadness. They were lives she lived being scorned and shunned by those around her. She had been murdered and even locked up in dark, damp places with no light. Left to only drink the water that trickled in from outside and eat the bugs that crawled along the floor. She had experienced so much pain and heartache throughout these countless lives she never wanted to live through such a thing again.
She thought that having her family waiting for her would be enough to get her through these dark days that she was going to have as she worked hard to escape this world. She thought she pushed those deep dark feelings of torment she had in her past lives deep down inside her. But it seemed Nana's words brought them back up to the surface. She felt lucky to have such a friend.
"I agree with Nana!" Fei jumped in. She also did not want to see Kana leave.
"I do as well. There is no way I will allow the girl I like to walk away like this. We are all friends here. There is nothing we can not deal with if we are together." Fan also rejected Kana's suggestion.
"I owe Benefactor my life. If Benefactor needs my life, then I will gladly give it. My life is now yours." Zhong's voice was firm. He had no issues dying for the person who saved him.
Kana turned and looked at her four friends with tears rolling down her cheeks. "Are you sure? I am dangerous right now. Even I do not know if this will get worse or not. You could all die without even knowing."
"Kana we stand with you as your friend. We will not abandon someone who has always protected us. You have already saved us more times than you think. So stop your stupidness and come sit. We can finally have a decent conversation." Nana said with a smile. She did not wish to ever see such a sad expression on her friend's face ever again.
