As soon as Kana stepped foot into the cave, a cold chill suddenly ran up her leg, causing her to shiver. This instantly told her something was very off about this place. She took a step back and thought for a minute before using her spiritual qi to wrap her feet in flames. Only then did she step back into the cave.
Surprisingly she was actually still able to feel some cold pushing through the flames at the bottom of her feet, but not enough to really bother her. Another thing that struck her as odd was that the walls of the cave were very smooth. Not a single crack or crevice to be seen. It was almost as if whatever created this cave cut it with a fine edge.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"Very interesting…. It's so smooth and cold…." Kana ran her hand against the cave wall but quickly retracted it when a cold chill ran up her arm.
She continued forward without any hindrance. The path itself inclined upwards towards the top of the mountain and got colder the further she went in. At this point, her entire body was surrounded by her flames, using her dragon flames with phoenix fire to keep herself warm. After almost an hour of traveling, she finally came to a fork. The path on the left led upwards, while the one on the right led straight ahead. "It's colder, and the spiritual qi is denser this way. There must be something down here."
Kana's interest was piqued as she took the right path. She walked for another fifteen minutes, and the air had become so cold that she was shivering even while doused in her own flames. She hugged her body and pushed on. She had already come this far and she did not wish to give up so easily.
After another ten minutes, she finally came to the end of the cave to a small room. But this room was covered in a thick layer of ice. But this was not what actually surprised her the most. It was what was in the room that shocked her. Lying in the middle of the room sound asleep was a young girl with ice blue hair and a long tattered shirt. She was curled up, sleeping peacefully. Next to her was a large rock that Kana knew was the source of the strong spiritual qi she was feeling. Looking at the young girl, a thought came to mind. "She couldn't be right?"
Kana stepped into the room, her flames only slightly melting the ice under her feet. The cold sensation at the bottom of her feet stung, but she ignored it and continued walking into the room. With each step, the coldness grew to the point that her feet were starting to turn purple.
By the time she stood next to the little girl, she could no longer feel her feet. But Kana still did not care about any of this. She knelt down and looked at the young girl who was still asleep and smiled warmly. She dissipated the flames on her hands and reached down and pushed a lock of the blue hair to the side. Unsurprisingly the hair and the girl's skin were ice cold as well. Kana's fingers instantly turned purple.
"I didn't think it would be possible in a world without magic to produce an elemental spirit, but I guess it is." Kana knew for sure that this girl was no different from Aoi or Naru. She was an Ice elemental.
"Mmmguh…. Hmmm?" The little girl slowly woke up. She blinked a few times before turning her head. Her eyes locked with Kana's. They stared at each other for a few minutes before the little girl finally reacted. "Ahhh! Monster!"
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"Haha!" Kana chuckled and shook her head. She watched as the little girl scrambled to hide behind the large stone that was radiating spiritual qi. After a while, she peeked out from behind it and stared at Kana with eyes full of mistrust and unease.
"Don't worry, I mean you no harm." Kana said while making sure to speak softly in order to not startle the little girl. She also did not take a single step toward the young girl. Instead, even though she was already very cold and her feet were on the verge of frostbite, she sat down on the cold ice. "You are an ice elemental?"
The little girl did not answer Kana. Instead, she stared at Kana in shock. She could tell that although Kana was wrapped in flames, she was still freezing cold. This was very apparent because although Kana seemed calm and fine, she was still shaking, and her lips were turning blue. She had never seen such a strange person before. In fact, she had only seen one person since she first woke up, and that person froze to death and was now buried under the layers of ice of this room. Even her shirt was taken from that person. They had given it to her when they first met. But back then, her ice was not as powerful, and anyone with a bit of power could easily walk into this place but once they reached this room they would freeze to death if they did not leave quickly, that is if they could make it in here. And this is what surprised the little girl the most.
Kana looked at the little girl curiously and wondered something. For an elemental to be on this world and not be discovered is very strange, especially with such a huge chunk of what looked to be a spirit stone. While this ice may stop most people from entering, Kana was sure that some of the top powers would be able to make their way in here.
"How did you come here?" The little girl finally asked after a long time. She couldn't help her curiosity. The last person to come here was also strange. They also could find the entrance to this place.
"Hmmm? Isn't there an entrance on the side of the cliff?" Kana asked, feeling confused. She wondered if the little girl ever left this room.
"But…. No one should be able to see the entrance…."
