"What do you mean?" Kana asked. She was very confused as to why the entrance couldn't be seen. She had seen it as soon as she landed on the ledge.
"This place is shielded. No one should be able to see the entrance unless they are not from this world." The little girl replied. She still stayed behind the giant spirit stone.
Hearing this, Kana finally understood what the little girl meant. "I see… so you can from another place?"
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtThe little girl did not answer once again and only stared at Kana. She was trying to figure out why this person who was close to turning into an ice cube still sat there looking at her with such a warm expression.
Seeing how the little girl was not answering, Kana did not feel distressed. Instead, she continued: "You see, if what you say is true, then it is normal for me to see this place. I am actually not from this planet, nor am I from this universe."
The little girl's eyes widened, but she still didn't budge. She was unsure if Kana was lying to her or not. "It is true…." The little girl finally spoke. "This place you are in was created by someone not from this world. When I first came into being, I was on a large rock floating through a dark space with many lights all around me. Then some strange man who could fly around in that space in a strange metal object found me and brought me here. He said that no one would ever bother me and told me that as long as I never leave this stone, it would nourish me and that one day he would return, but…. I have only seen one other being since then…. And…. They froze to death just as you will if you do not leave here soon."
The little girl's eyes lowered as a flash of loneliness passed through them. Kana did not miss this, and her heart ached for the little girl. She, more than anyone, knew the meaning of loneliness. How many lives did she live where she was all alone and died alone? She could also hear the concern in the little girl's voice at the end. This showed that the little girl did not wish for her to freeze to death like the person she met before.
But one thing she wanted to know was how did the person who brought her here leave? How did they make it so that this cave was invisible to those who lived on this world but not those who did not live here? None of that made any sense and was something she felt she should look into before she left this mountain.
With all these things in mind, Kana looked at the little girl and asked: "Do you wish to leave here?"
"Leave?" The little girl's eyes brightened a little but slowly dimmed as she shook her head. "No…. I can't. Wherever I go, ice will form around me freezing everything. I will bring nothing but frozen death to those around me. So thank you but it seems I can not leave this place…."
Kana finally stood up and took a step forward. To her this little girl was herself. She saw every one of her lives while looking at this little girl. She was happy that while elementals were alive they were not affected by death element. This made it so she did not need to worry about harming the little girl.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmThe little girl watched as Kana walked over to her. She did not try to run away, she was just staring at Kana with questioning eyes. She watched as Kana knelt down in front of her. Kana's body looked as if it would turn into an ice cube at any moment. But what startled her the most was when Kana's flames dispersed and Kana pulled her into her embrace. "Wait if you touch me you will…." Her words were cut off as Kana's soothing voice entered her ears.
"It must have been so lonely all these years being here by yourself." Kana gently caressed the top of the little girl's head as she hugged her tightly. Her hands turned a deep purple as ice began to form on her body. But she did not care. She felt that this little girl needed someone, someone to be by her side and tell her she was not alone.
Feeling what little warmth was left of Kana's body as it enveloped the little girl, the little girl's eyes began to brim with tears that quickly turned to ice as they trailed down her cheeks. Suddenly after so many many long years, she had finally felt warmth. Something inside the little girl made her wish to never harm the young woman who was giving her this warmth. As this thought came to mind. The ice on Kana's body began to fade away. The purple tint of Kana's skin began to disappear revealing a pearly white color once more.
The room was still covered in ice, but just Kana alone was no longer affected by it. Kana smiled as she continued to hug the little girl. It seemed the little girl had grasped some control of her power. After a few minutes of silence, Kana finally spoke. "We are the same…. Wherever I go I bring nothing but death as well. Luckily, you will not be affected by it."
"Huh?" The little girl looked up at Kana with a confused expression. She did not understand how such a kind person such as the young woman who was hugging her was able to bring death to those around her. But as she slowly began to sense her surroundings, she realized there was a strange element coming from Kana. As an elemental herself she knew what this element was and found it very strange for a being that was not an elemental, to have such a strong element within them. Especially the death element! But now what Kana said made sense to her. Kana was indeed like her. They were the same.
