And so, with a new goal set, Kana's tail swished back and forth as she marched up the mountain with the rest of the disciples from Moon Crest Academy. For those behind her, it seemed a bit mesmerizing watching the tail swinging left to right and then back again. Just watching Kana walking with a skip in her step made those behind her feel much better. After what had happened, their moods had all been a little gloomy.
First, they were depressed at their own weaknesses. They were on the brink of death, and if not for Kana saving them, they would have all died right then and there. Kana had become a god in their eyes. With how quickly she raised her strength, it was as if she was not even from this world.
Second, they hated the fact that they had to rely on others to protect them. While the world of cultivation was one where there was always someone stronger, this did not mean that they wished to always be the weak ones. This whole situation had become the key to reigniting their drive to grow stronger faster. They were supposed to be the best of the best within the sect. Now they realized that they had grown lazy over the years once they became inner sect disciples. Now a new fire burned within them to grow stronger so that things like today will never happen again.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtAs for Li Tangxin and Ming Xiafan. They already knew Kana's family was different but what they saw today was beyond their imagination. The girl who was only a qi condensation cultivator in a matter of a few months had shot up through the realms of cultivation to become a god like existence even with her powers restricted.
"Maybe marrying her daughter would not be so bad…." Ming Xianfan said in a low voice.
"Don't even think about it. As Kana said, you are too weak and too average for Yana. She is much more powerful than you and I even when she has no cultivation." Li Tangxin rained in on his parade. This caused Ming Xiafan to lower his head. It was true he was too weak. But to his surprise, the one known as the ice queen hooked her arm with his and rested her head on his shoulder: "But…. That does not mean no girl would want to be at your side."
Ming Xiafan's cheeks blushed. He was shocked and happy at the same time. "Then I guess I will be in your care…."
Kana had no idea a budding romance was suddenly happening behind her. Nor would she care. Her mind was set on the palace at the top of the mountain. The road was slim and hard to travel, but after a few hours, they reached the top. In front of them were broken stone columns that once stood tall and high into the sky. Each one once had carvings engraved into them. Kana couldn't make out what they were supposed to be as they had long been eroded.
Kana felt that maybe this palace was destroyed during the time the golden bearded old man's world broke apart. It did sit on the mountain that was right next to the black void that led to nothingness.
Kana to each step, slowly looking at things as she tried to take everything in. When she reached the large door that led into the castle, it was half broken at the top. The stone walls had large cracks in them and looked to be ready to fall apart at any time. She was careful as she slowly pushed the large stone doors open. Some of the rubble at the top did fall down as she did, but surprisingly, they held together. She only opened them enough to make room for people to walk through and nothing more. She did not want to push her luck.
The inside was surprisingly well lit. There seemed to be some kind of crystal embedded into the white stone walls that gave off enough light for them to see around. When they all entered the main hall, Kana finally turned around and looked at the group behind her. "Search every corner and take anything useful. Even if you, yourself, can not use it, bring it back with you as the sect may be able to. Ming and Li will be team leaders. You two will take a group and search a wing of the palace. But be careful. There is no telling what kind of traps might be laid out or if any other sects might show up here. Your lives are more important than any treasure. Is that understood?"

"Kana, where are you going?" Li Tangxin asked. She did not care for what Kana wanted here, but she still worried about her.
Kana smiled as she said: "I am picking up my reward for passing a few trials. Luckily the reward was placed in this place, or else I would not have arrived in time to help you all. It seems fate has smiled upon our Moon Crest Academy."
Kana's words were a roundabout way of saying the items I am taking are mine and mine alone. If it wasn't for me, you would not be alive right now. While most did not understand this, Ming Xiafan and Li Tangxin did. But they also did not mind. Li Tangxin smiled as she said: "Then let's hope all your troubles were worth it."
Kana shook her head. "I am glad it was in this place and not someplace else. I do not know how I would explain to the sect master how you all died. But no more gloomy talk, remember we are here to steal the loot, so become bandits and loot away!"
"Yeah!" Everyone shouted out before splitting up into two teams and running off in different directions. Kana chuckled watching them run off. She then turned to the entrance and waved her hand. The large stone door slammed shut and a stone thicker than the previous door shot up from the ground blocking the entrance. "I would like to see someone try to enter now."
