Chapter 134
I was the one who suggested meeting with Russel, so it was only right that I drove him home.
Russel was staying in an apartment arranged by the hospital. It wasn’t too far from where I was renting,
but it would still take about half an hour to walk. He was the silent type. And I was feeling down, not in
the mood for chit–chat. We hardly spoke during the entire ride.
When we arrived at his apartment building, Russel didn’t go straight up. Instead, he asked me, “Irene,
what if things between Neil and Bonnie aren’t as you imagine? Would you change your mind?”
That was almost exactly the question Neil had asked. My answer remained the same ‘No, I wouldn’t.
My heart is already full of pain. Changing my mind would only bring more pain.”
Russel gave a small smile “True, but if a lot of things turn out to be misunderstandings, and you end up
wanting to change your mind, I’ll support you”
“You’d support me?” I was surprised.
He’d said he liked me. Why would he support me changing my mind?
Russel smiled again “Yes, but before that, I would still pursue you until you were sure of your own
feelings.” With that, he unbuckled his seatbelt and got out of the car.
Russel waved at me from outside the car window. I drove away with a mixture of emotions. Once back
home, I found myself in a daze. Was Russel really
so tolerant?
In my past life, he’d been ruthless in his pursuit of Bonnie, completely erasing his over twenty years of
friendship with Neil, showing no signs of backing. down.

That night, I didn’t sleep well. My mind was a whirl of thoughts, so I called in sick the next day.
Orlando was understanding. He knew I was here only for practice and wouldn’t stay long–term, so he
was more concerned about my health. When he found out I was taking the day off, he even offered to
bring me food. I declined. It felt awkward.
I had breakfast alone, toasting some bread with eggs and ham, and drank milk to make sure my baby
got balanced nutrition.
After eating, I went back to bed. I didn’t feel like doing anything or going out Then my phone rang. I
answered groggily. “Who is it? What’s up?”
“Louis said he didn’t see you at work this morning and didn’t see you come home either. What’s going
on?” It was Neil on the other end. It sounded noisy around him; he must’ve been outside.
I woke up a bit, glanced at the time on my phone, then looked outside. It was already evening.
“I took the day off. Just resting at home today. Nothing special,” I said, sitting up. My voice was hoarse
from sleeping too long, and my throat felt a bit
sore.
“Have you eaten yet?” Neil asked.
“I’m about to get up and eat,” I answered nonchalantly and hung up.
I was starting to feel hungry, so I got up to prepare something. Opening the fridge, I found almost all the
food was gone, and there was nothing I felt like eating I grabbed an apple and started munching, then
ordered some food online.
While waiting for my food delivery, Stella called me on video. She looked even more radiant and her
face was fuller. Her eyes sparkled with energy, and she looked really vibrant. It was clear she was
leading a happy married life.
That playboy Mitch had become very considerate after they got married. He was also dedicated to his
work, always rushing home to be with Stella after work.
“Last night, I called Mitch. He didn’t tell me anything more about Neil and Bonnie. Do you think I should
call him again tonight?” There was concern in
Stella’s voice
“No need, I don’t care anymore, 1 reassured her quickly. “You need to take care of yourself. If Mitch
tells you everything, Neil won’t let him off.”
Stella wasn’t satisfied. “It’s not just for you, it’s for me too. I’m really mad. He thinks Bonnie Bitch is just
a simple girl. Even if she’s a bit cunning, she’s not bad. That makes me fdrious I want to give him a
piece of my mind. I don’t my unborn child to have a stupid father.”
I nearly choked of my apple. After coughing a few times, I managed to say, “Don’t get so worked up.
Mitch is your husband. Don’t you know him? He’s probably been fooled by Bonnie’s appearance. Don’t
blame him.”
“Are all men blind? Can’t they tell a good girl from a bad one? They’re all cunning foxes at work, but in
front of girls, they turn into clumsy idiots!” Stella exclaimed
After we both vented about Mitch for about ten minutes, Stella suddenly told me, “I forgot to tell you, I’m
having twins, hahaha…”
“Really?” I was thrilled. That’s great! If it’s a boy and a girl, you’ll have both a son and a daughter at
once!”
“Yes, I hope it’s a boy and a girl too. But no matter what the genders are, I’ll still love them. If I have two
sons, and you and Barbara each have a daughter, they can marry my sons. Then I’ll be a mother–in–

As I subconsciously touched my slightly protruding belly, I realized it was hardly noticeable. Probably
smaller than some people’s bellies after a meal.
“Ift have a daughter in the future, I’ll respect her choices. Whether she chooses to marry or not, I’ll
support her. What’s so great about marriage?” I said with a laugh.
“Yes, I agree. Their marriages should be their own decisions, Stella agreed
Just as we were chatting, the doorbell rang. After saying goodbye to Stella, I rushed to the door.
Neil was there, holding a bunch of takeout. I could already smell the delicious food.
You didn’t have to do this,” I sighed.
“My mom insisted. She said if I came here, I had to take good care of you, or she’d disown me.” Neil
walked straight into the living roorn and put the food
on the table.
He must be up to his neck in it here too. Since he had already got skin in the game, he was bound to
take care of it himself, not treating it like some small potatoes. That was a feather in Neil’s cap. He was
as steady as a rock when it came to work, he’d always buckle down and get the job done, and done
well at that.
He needed to manage his domestic work remotely and was personally responsible for projects over
here, so as one can imagine, he didn’t have a lot of
time to waste.
Just then, Neil opened up a box, inside was grilled salmon. The smell was mouth watering, but my
nose, keen as a hound’s, could still pick up the fishy smell. Even though my morning sickness had
been easing up, I still can’t stomach the smell of fish.
