Chapter 230
That guy was fast, but I managed to get a blurry glimpse of his face. He looked eerily familiar
I immediately dialed the property management. Ten minutes later, they arrived, but the guy was gone.
“Pull up the surveillance footage. That guy is definitely sketchy i told them.
I had this gut feeling that this guy had something to do with the person who unplugged the power in my
mom’s hospital room.
The property management was efficient. By the next day, I had the surveillance footage. I had seen
that guy lurking around Gloria before. Sure enough, he was one of Gloria’s and Bonnie’s minions.
I went straight to the police, handed over the surveillance footage, and identified the guy as one of
Gloria’s
“Irene!”
Just as I got home from work, I saw Bonnie waiting for me. I don’t know what she had been through,
but she was acting all high and mighty.
Her eyes were red, and she was glaring at me as if I were her enemy.
I stood a few meters away and didn’t approach her. “What’s up?”
“Haha.” Bonnie seemed to lose control. She went from raging mad to showing a bone-chilling smile.
I furrowed my brows. Was she going nuts?
Bonnie walked towards me as her pale face bore a strange expression. She whispered, “Neil used me.
He doesn’t care about me at all!”
I didn’t have much to say. I knew Neil too well. He either loved like a madman or was terrifyingly

“So him breaking up with me was to show you his feelings, huh? I’ll make you regret this. Just you
wait.” Bonnie smirked, seeming a bit unhinged.
“Sending people to harm my mom, spying on me at night… What else you got?” I asked coldly
Bonnie scoffed at me. “Something more painful, Irene. This is all your fault. You’ll pay for this!”
She always thought that Neil liked her and that I ruined their relationship by making Neil lose interest in
her.
I was innocent. How was I supposed to know the plot would change after my rebirth?
Bonnie didn’t do anything to me. She seemed to be here just to threaten me. I furrowed my brows as I
watched her hurriedly leave.
I was worried not only about myself but also about my parents.
I rushed to the hospital to check on my mom and reminded the caretaker to be wary of strangers.
“Hey, Irene, what brings you to the hospital? Are you here to see Nel?” As soon as I stepped into the
elevator, I saw Kitty.
She was holding a takeout box.
I shook my head, “No, I have other things to do.”
I didn’t want to tell her about my family issues, so I just gave a simple response.
Kitty suddenly looked at me with puppy eyes, “Irene, could you talk to Nel for me?”
I was puzzled, “What do you mean?”
The elevator door opened, but it wasn’t my floor. Kitty grabbed my arm and stepped out, heading
towards a specific room.
I stood still, “Kitty, I have other things to do, I can’t help you with Neil.”
Kitty seemed to gather strength from somewhere and dragged me towards the room. “The guy is
torturing himself. He doesn’t eat or take his medicine on time. He’s going to get himself into trouble!”
Though Kitty was blunt, Neil’s lack of cooperation with his treatment could indeed cause serious harm
to his health.
That’s his problem. He’s not a toddler. He needs to take responsibility for his own health!” I said
helplessly, shaking off Kitty’s grip.
While we were squabbling, Neil was standing at the door of his room
I wasn’t sure if he heard our conversation.
Neil looked paler than before and seemed a bit gloomy. He stared at me, “You’re right. I don’t need you
to lecture me.”
Kitty saw him and let go of me, looking upset. “The doctor said your life is in danger Are you bored with
life?”
“If you have time, find a job instead of flitting around me.’ Neil gave Kitty a cold glance.
He didn’t express gratitude at all. I was glad I didn’t really come to persuade him.
I casually glanced at Neil, ‘Kitty’s worried about you. Do you think I want to persuade you?”
“Why are you here then?” Neil counter-questioned.
“I was dragged here by her!” I protested.
“She’s about your size. How could she drag you here?’ ized up Kitty and me.
Indeed, Kitty was also quite skinny.
Kitty sighed deeply, “Mr. Iceberg, I’ve tried to get so many people to talk to you. You can’t expect me to

I could hear her concern for Neil’s health
Neil sneered and walked past us towards the stairwell. Kitty grabbed me and followed him closely.
“Look at him, smoking a pack or two a day. Is that what a patient should do?” Kitty stomped her foot in
anger, pointing at Neil’s smoking figure.
The question was, what did this have to do with me?
I comforted Kitty, “Kitty, this is a test for you guys. He’s just one person. If you love him, you have to
accept all of him.”
My words made Neil turn around. He had a cigarette in his hand, and his eyes were full of anger.
“You seem very experienced.” He said coldly. “Didn’t I say we shouldn’t meet again? Are you still not
leaving?”
Tell Kitty to let me go.” I glanced at Kitty, feeling surprised. We were both skinny, yet she was so much
stronger than me.
Neil immediately put on a stern face. “Kitty, stop causing trouble for me. It’s none of your business!”
Kitty widened her eyes, “Why don’t you appreciate others’ concern? No wonder Irene divorced you.
You deserve it!”
After her blatant attack, she stormed off. I was shocked by her boldness in front of Neil.
After Kitty left, it was just me and Neil in the stairwell.
Alright, if she was gone, I had to go too. I was about to leave when Neil said in a low voice, “Wait.”
I turned my head, puzzled.
Neil looked as white as a sheet, his cigarette had fallen onto the ground, one hand clutching his upper
stomach, the other holding onto the stair railing. “Help me get back to my room.
He didn’t seem to be putting on an act; it must be his stomach acting up again. I froze for a few
seconds while Neil looked up at me, “Can’t you even do this little thing for me?”
