Chapter 321
“Nurse, I don’t know this man; can you get him out of here?”
Maybe it was because I had seen enough crazy stuff, but my gut feeling was now as sharp as a razor.
The nurse gave the guy a look, and her alarm bells instantly went off. She said sternly. “Leave, don’t
disturb the patient, or I’ll call security!”
The man glared at me with such a chill. I didn’t know him, but he looked at me like I was his worst
enemy.
With the medical staff present, he didn’t dare linger. He made up an excuse, “Sorry, wrong room.”
And with that, he turned and left.
Even after he left, I still had the creeps. I didn’t know this place well, and being here alone felt risky.
After a bit of thinking, I decided to call Neil.
“You better take good care of Irene! If you go after that tramp Bonnie again, I swear I’ll cut ties with
you!” Just as I dialed the number, the hospital room door burst open, and Faith’s voice echoed from
afar.
Soon, Neil’s phone started ringing. He glanced at the caller ID, then at me.
I immediately hung up, but Faith still noticed. “Irene, were you just calling Neil? Are you scared he’ll go
see Bonnie?”
Caught off guard by her smug face, I was momentarily speechless.
Neil glanced at her and explained. ‘It was a call from the office”
“I was just calling Hannah to update her on the situation.” I denied it too.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtFaith’s face fell, but she quickly put on a smile. “Okay, I’m going to grab something to eat while you
chat.”
With that, she left, leaving me and Neil alone.
After Faith left, Neil and exchanged a look of mutual helplessness. Keeping people in the dark was for
their own protection, but Faith was clearly overthinking things.
Thinking back to the man earlier, I told Neil, “Ask the doctor if I can leave tomorrow to continue
treatment in Rosemont.”
“What happened? It’s fine to wait until you’re better before going back.” Neil seemed to disagree
“There was a guy here just now, I got bad vibes from him. It’s better to get out of here sooner rather
than later I voiced my concerns..
The Morse family was also in the hospital. What would I tell Hannah if anything happened to them?
Neil frowned. His train of thought was now similar to imine. “You think that man is Hannah’s husband?”
I nodded, “Yes. And I suspect he’s involved in the arson, like Bonnie.”
Neil didn’t say a word; he was deep in thought. I was also lost in my doubts. Suddenly, I remembered
someone.
I called Malinda, whom I had put in a secluded place not only to avoid Bonnie but also to give her a
quiet place to recover
Neil watched me, not interrupting.
“Malinda, when Bonnie and Oscar were together did she share everything about their relationship with
you?” I asked.
“Yes, we were very close during that time.” Malinda replied.
‘She’s been to Oscar’s house. Do you know what her relationship with Oscar’s brother-in-law was
like?” The only thing I could think of right now was this.
Malinda was silent for a moment, trying to recall the past, before answering me. “Their relationship was
pretty good. Oscar’s brother-in-law used to be a domestic abuser, but he was good to Bonnie at that
time. She even bragged to me about it.”
That made sense. Bonnie could have teamed up with Hannah’s husband, given their respective
grudges against the Morse family and
1.
But then I thought of more questions. How did Bonnie know I was here? How did she notify that guy?
“Okay, I get it” I hung up the phone and took a deep breath. Bonnie really hadn’t changed one bit, she
was openly trying to kill me now. Neil had been listening in on the call since I had it on speaker, so he
didn’t need me to repeat the conversation.
We looked at each other for a while, neither of us speaking.
After a moment, Neil finally spoke. “We need to change the plan.”
“What?” I asked.
I handle Ethan Foster myself; there’s no need to go through Bonnie anymore.” Neil’s voice suddenly
became stem “He Bonni
Gloria are all in on it. If we take him down, everything else will fall into place.”
“What are you planning to do? Confront him directly?” I started to worry. Even though I had thought
about using Neil before, I didn’t want him to risk everything.
Ethan Foster was no pushover, taking him down would take some effort.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmNeil’s eyes hardened. “At this rate, you’ll only be in more danger. And I’m running out of patience with
Bonnie.”
I was taken aback. I hadn’t expected Neil to prioritize my safety.
“Neil, we’ve come this far, let’s not take any more risks.” I said, a bit awkwardly.
Neil looked at me for a while, then suddenly asked. “Aren’t you jealous?”
I was taken aback. “Jealous of what?”
My answer seemed to upset Neil.
“Seeing me with Bonnie, you’re not jealous at all? You don’t feel anything?”
I finally realized what he was getting at and immediately understood that Neil was angry. If I said I
wasn’t jealous, that meant I didn’t care about him and had no desire to have him to myself.
But did I care about him? I didn’t dare to delve into my feelings. Regardless of the answer, it was a
heavy thought.
Since Neil had asked me this question, I had to answer
“I am jealous, but I can understand you.” I thought for a moment, then replied, “Like when you didn’t
barge in to find me that day, I was disappointed, but I understood soon after.”
Nell’s face eased up a lad. He got up, walked to the door, locked it, and then came back to the bedside.
He propped himself on the edge of the bed with both hands and leaned in with his fit body slightly bent.
His lips twitched. “I almost switched gears that day. I wasn’t planning on letting Ethan Foster and
Russel leave there alive.”
I stared at Neil in shock. I had no idea that he was that pissed off back then.
“Luckily, you weren’t hurt. Just this spot” Neil lifted a hand, pointed out with his index finger, lightly
hooked my collar, and touched a spot on my neck. “Russel grazed this spot on your neck, but that’s not
your fault. It’s on him.”
I felt like Neil’s fingertip was a bit cold, so I couldn’t help but shrink my neck and then roll over to lay
flat.
