Chapter 34
Chapter 34.
Nelly’s POV.
In front of me was a picturesque cottage, a riot of flowers spilling over the windowsills, the scent of
roses and jasmine heavy in the air. On the table was a feast of sumptuous food, the aroma of fresh
bread, roasted meat, and stewed fruit wafting towards me.
I stood there, mouth agape, unable to comprehend what I was seeing. Alpha Kex, ever the gentleman,
reached out and gently closed my mouth.
“Don’t let the flies in, my dear,” he said, a mischievous glint in his eyes.
“Did you do this for us?” I stuttered, my mind whirling with questions.
I had never seen such a romantic gesture before, and I was awed by the lengths he had gone to make
this happen.
“I wouldn’t have come this far if it wasn’t for you,” he said, his eyes twinkling with amusement.
I continued to look at him, my mind still racing. “How on earth did you plan something like this? I
thought you were angry at me?” I asked, trying to comprehend how he had made all of this happen.
“Who says I’m not still angry with you?” he said, a chuckle in his voice. His tone was teasing, and I
couldn’t help but smile in response.
It seemed he was not as angry as I had anticipated. Perhaps there was hope for us yet. But I couldn’t
shake the feeling that something was amiss, that there was more to this than met the eye.
“The food might get cold,” he said, his words breaking the tension in the air.
We entered the cottage, and he set my bag down near the door. I sat by the fireplace, warming myself
by the flames. I looked around the room, taking in the details of the place.

taken care of this place, and had made it a home.
He sat down beside me, his body close but not touching mine. “I thought you might want to eat first,” he
said, his tone soft and gentle..
I shook my head. “I’m not hungry,” I said, my voice hoarse from the shock and fear I

He nodded, accepting my answer unquestionably. I looked around again, taking in the small details of
the room. “Who owns this place?” I asked, hoping to distract myself from my thoughts.
He turned to me, his face inscrutable. “This used to be where I lived, when my father died,” he said, his
voice tinged with sadness. “I moved to the palace to take my role as the Alpha.”
“It’s too quiet here for someone like me,” I muttered, not meaning to speak the words. aloud.
“That’s precisely why I like it here,” he said, his eyes meeting mine. “It’s my secret hideout, my safe
place.”
I nodded, understanding what he meant. It was a place where he could be alone, a place where he
could be himself.
“Why did you bring me here?” I asked, my voice soft and hesitant.
“I wanted us to sort things out in a place where no one would disturb us,” he said, his voice calm and
even.
I swallowed hard, trying to keep my emotions in check. This means war, doesn’t it? Alpha Kex doesn’t
settle things with someone without a fight.
“Is it about Emily?” I asked, the words barely above a whisper. He nodded, and I felt a wave of dread
wash over me. “I didn’t do anything to her,” I said, my voice shaking. “I swear it.”
“Then why did you put peanuts in her food, knowing she’s allergic to them?” he asked, his eyes burning
with anger.
I remembered the last time he had confronted me about Emily matter, his hands gripping the belt so
tightly and wiping me.
“I didn’t mean to,” I said, my words catching in my throat. “I–I was angry, and I -I wasn’t thinking clearly.
I’m so sorry.”
I searched his face, looking for any sign of forgiveness. But his expression remained. hard, his eyes
dark and unforgiving. “I’m sorry, Alpha Kex. Please believe me.” My words hung in the air between us,
heavy with unspoken emotion.
“You both drive me crazy,” he said, his voice strained. I stayed silent, not knowing what to say. I could
feel the tension in the air, thick, and heavy. “Both of you are important to me,” he continued, “and I don’t
understand why you both hate cach other so much.”

“She started it,” I said, my words quick and sharp. I remembered the way Emily had always taunted
me, always pushing me to my breaking point. “She was the one who started playing games, and I was
just giving her a taste of her medicine.” I stared at him.
He reached out and held my hands, his touch gentle but firm. I tried to pull away, but he held me fast.
“If you keep hurting Emily, you are going to make things difficult for us,” he said, his tone soft but

I yanked my hands from his grasp and stood up, my chest heaving. “You don’t understand,” I said, my
voice breaking. “You don’t know what it’s like to be in my position, to feel the way I feel.”

He stood up as well, his eyes with confusion and concern. “I don’t understand?” he asked.
“You need to say this to Emily yourself,” I said, a hint of desperation in my voice. “I can’t do it for you.”
“It’s going to be difficult to make her understand,” he said, his face clouded with worry. “She’s my best
friend’s sister, and she’s been like a sister to me for so long.”
I let out a loud sarcastic laugh. “I might be nobody to you,” I said, my voice shaking with emotion, “but I
am a she–wolf, and if she crosses my path, I will tear her apart.” The words left my mouth before I
could stop them, and I felt my face burn with anger.
My tone had been fierce and threatening, and I didn’t know where it had come from. I looked at Alpha
Kex, my eyes wide with regret. “I didn’t mean that,” I said, my words tumbling out in a rush.
“Who says you mean nothing to me?” he said, moving closer to me until I could feel his breath on my
face. I stepped back until my back hit the wall, unable to escape. He placed one hand on my waist, his
touch gentle but firm, and the other hand against the wall beside my head.
“Who says you mean nothing to me?” he repeated, his voice low and husky.
I could feel my heart pounding in my chest, my breath coming in shallow gasps. I didn’t know what to
say, how to respond. His eyes held mine, the intensity of his gaze burning through me.
“What do I mean to you?” I asked, my y voice quivering.
I felt his thumb brush against my cheek, his touch like a spark of electricity. I closed my eyes, my body
tensing. Then, I felt his lips on mine, soft and warm.
