Chapter 0140 Gavin's POV The rage I felt when I saw Ethan's family tormenting Judy was beyond what I had ever felt in my life. I was honestly surprised that I was able to control myself. Staying at this barbeque wasn't something I wanted to do, but Judy pleaded withto let it go for right now and I wasn't going to leave without her. I watched her mingling with a few girls her age, and she looked rather uncomfortable. We sat at the table, and I slid a plate of food in her direction. She began to nibble without speaking a word.

"Is everything okay?" Raymond asked, looking at Judy and then back at me.

I nodded.

"I have to work tonight. I'll just catch an Uber," she told her.

Her mother nodded and then hugged her.

Judy looked uneasy though, but she nodded and watched as her mother left. I couldn't help but notice Judy staring after her, seeming a bit lost in thought. I knew this was my queue to get her out of there; she'd had enough torture for one day.

"I should be going too," I said, standing to my feet. I glanced at Judy. “Letgive you a ride.” She looked as if she was about to protest, but then she thought better of it and gavea short nod. "Thank you," she said softly.

"You aren't going hwith your mother?" Meredith asked with her brows raised.

Judy shook her head.

"I have to go to work,” she explained.

"Oh, I wasn't aware you were working," Meredith said with a frown. "And what is it you do?"

"I'm a tutor," she blurted. "I tutor a child in Alpha Landry's pack. Which is why he's going to givea ride."
