“Okay.” Winnie stood up after Josiah was done measuring her blood pressure. “It's still early. Do you
have any plans later?”
Josiah kept his equipment and asked, “What about you? Do you have any plans?”
“Exercise,” Winnie replied. “It's my daily routine. Why? Do you want to join me?”
“Sure.” Josiah was eager to follow. “So, what do you normally do?”
“Oh, I usually go for things I can do alone. But since you're joining, we can go for something we can do
together. I'm in the mood for fencing today. Are you up for that?” Ever since losing her eyesight, Winnie
had fallen in love with fencing.
Not only could fencing train her hearing and response time, but it could also improve her agility.
Josiah was taken aback by her suggestion. “Are you kidding me? Fencing? Really?”
“Why? You don't trust me?” Winnie looked confident as ever. “After getting a taste of my fencing skill,
Xavier was really impressed with it. Ah, is it because you don't know how to fence?”
“Do you really think I don't know how to fence? Your husband and I grew up together, and I was his
training partner. I had to follow him and learn everything he was learning. So, if he knows how to fence,
then you can be sure that I know it too. You'll be begging for mercy once I start. Mark my words.”
“Oh?” His confidence piqued Winnie's interest. “Xavier lost to me, though. You're implying that you're
better than him, then.”
“Oh, you'll see.” Josiah smiled. “I might not measure up to Xavier in other things, but I'm confident that
I'm better than him at medical skills and fencing. You can judge for yourself afterward.”
“Great, let's go!”

It was Winnie's first time competing against Josiah. Hence, she had never encountered his fencing
techniques and style before. Moreover, as she was visually impaired, she suffered a crushing defeat in
the first round.
She got better in the second round, but the results were the same. As Josiah said, he was good at it,
so Winnie lost to him.
Regardless, Winnie did not give up. Soon, they were in the third round.
Josiah couldn't bear to see Winnie being defeated repeatedly, so he intentionally went easy on her.
However, Winnie was no fool and immediately realized what he was doing.
She forcefully thrust her sword at Josiah and said, “This is no fun. I'm honestly trying to learn from you.
I'm not going to play with you anymore if you keep doing this.”
Josiah was overcome with indignance. Not only did he have to suffer the thrust, but he was also
threatened.
However, Winnie's mock threat worked. He began to fence more seriously.
After three rounds, Winnie was already familiar with his fencing style. Hence, even though he put his
best foot forward in the last few rounds, he didn't manage to win any.
As a result, Josiah's desire to win intensified, and he refused to stop playing. “Last round. Come on,
let's play one last round. I don't believe that I'll still lose to you. This is unbelievable.”
Winnie chuckled and said, “Are you going to look down on your opponents again in the future?”
“No, never. Come on, one last round.” Josiah was already in a ready stance.
However, Winnie declined the request for a last game.
She took off her mask and wiped her sweat. “No thanks. We already had the last round.”
“Are you tired?” Josiah took off his mask as well, but he was still itching for another round. “Why don't
we take a half an hour break before we go for another round?”
“No!” Winnie rejected him outright.
Josiah frowned and said, “Why? I'm asking you for a favor, which is something I don't often do, and you
won't even give me this opportunity?”
Winnie smiled. “I can't. Time's up.”
“What time?”
Winnie's phone rang right then.
“Ah.” Winnie smiled. “He's right on time. Xavier's video-calling me. It's our daily routine, so I'm ditching
you.”
“All right, then.” Josiah heaved an exaggerated sigh. “How heartless.”
Nonetheless, he went over to Winnie's phone and brought it back to her.
“Come, I've invited your husband here.”
Winnie grinned. “Be a lamb and answer the call.”
“Yes, Ms. Garland,” Josiah quipped and put the call through.
Xavier's face appeared on the screen.
He was not surprised to see Josiah on the other line and asked, “Are you fencing with Winnie?”
“No.” Josiah furrowed his brows. “I'm torturing myself.”
“Hah.” Winnie couldn't help but chortle.
Xavier was amused as well.

His lips curled into a grin as he asked Josiah, “So, how's Winnie doing? Is she all right?”
“What do you think?” Josiah pointed the camera at Winnie's face. “Look at her glowing face. Also, she
just thrashed me at fencing, so you tell me. Of course, this is all thanks to her positive mentality and
consistent daily routine. I only exercise once a week, but Ms. Garland here exercises daily. Mutating
cells run at the sight of her. I think Ms. Garland has also burned them alongside her calories.”
Winnie was rendered speechless. “Dr. Houghton, are you a professional? What kind of diagnosis is
that?”
Then, she turned to ask Xavier, “So, how are you guys doing over there? Is everything going
smoothly?”
Xavier was brief with his words. “We bumped into a minor problem. Luckily, Wilhelm was around and
helped me out, so the problem's solved now. Tomorrow, Lisanne and the others are coming for a site
visit. Everything is going well so far. I think we're going to see some results soon.”
“Great.” Winnie heaved a sigh of relief. “Wilhelm told me it was quite a tricky problem. I was worried.”
“Don't worry. Other than the fact that I can't be together with you, all's good,” Xavier said.
Then, someone called out Xavier's name in the background.
Xavier had no other choice but to hang up the call.
Winnie kept her phone afterward.
Noting Winnie's reluctance, Josiah lamented, “You two are getting closer than ever.”
“Yes. Jealous?” Winnie smiled. “Hurry up and get a girlfriend then.”
“No,” Josiah said stubbornly. “It's so troublesome to video call every day. I won't be able to stand that.”
“All right. You're so single that you won't understand how blissful it is,” Winnie mocked.
However, Winnie's happiness was short-lived, as she couldn't get in contact with Xavier in the following
two days.
She didn't make much of it on the first night since they had just texted each other in the morning.
However, the next day, she started to panic when she couldn't reach him the whole day.
