Chapter 245: Proof of Identity [Part 1]
In the Fuji Gen royal family, the legitimate members of the High Tree Fuji Gen Family all had a special proof of legitimacy. This proof of legitimacy wasn’t a proof of identity, however.
Was there a difference between a proof of legitimacy and a proof of identity?
Yes, there was!
The two terms might not differ much to a normal person, but the same couldn’t be said to a royal family like the Gen Family at all.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtIn the Gen Family, there were a lot of people who possessed a proof of legitimacy. For example, everyone in Gen Xingming’s generation such as Bel, Ulaganuo, the cousins on their father’s side and so on all possessed a Gen Family proof of legitimacy. A proof of identity was different, however.
The Gen Family’s proof of identity was completely different from the ones possessed by a normal person. For example, Gen Xingming and his brothers were the only people in their generation generation to possess a royal family’s proof of identity. It was because their father was the current Fuji King himself. To give another example, the leaf-patterned tattoo that surrounded Gen Xingyao’s wrist like a bracelet was the man’s proof of identity.
Of course, if the next Fuji King turned out to be someone else outside the family, he would be granted an identical proof of identity as well. Unlike the Blazing Eagle Family though, the Gen Family’s throne was passed down to the king’s own son most of the time. Therefore, their lineage was purer than the other families.
Gen Xingyao was shocked because Cillin possessed a Gen Family specific proof of identity as well! Moreover, he was sure that it was from a different generation because their proof of identity was supposed to cling to the arm or the wrist, not the finger!
Gen Xingyao didn’t doubt the authenticity of Cillin’s leaf pattern ring at all. He wasn’t paying attention to Cillin’s finger earlier, true, but the moment Cillin’s gloves had scattered into many bits a sense of familiarity had immediately absorbed his attention like a magnet. That was why Gen Xingyao had completely lost the mood to create a little bit of trouble for his younger brother and his friends. After all, as a member of the Gen Family, what else was more important than the family itself?!
But, Gen Xingyao pondered in his head, what generation does his proof come from? My father’s proof of identity was in the form of a lapel badge around the chest. My grandfather...
Gen Xingyao’s pupils shrank as his heart beat strongly. His memory of it was very vague, but it probably was a proof of identity his grandfather wore.
The more he thought, the weirder he felt, and the more he felt like contacting his grandfather and clarifying his doubts right away. Unfortunately, he knew little about his grandfather’s generation. He could imagine the kind of waves he would set off if he tossed the question out carelessly, however.
Gen Xingyao stopped attacking and fell into deep thought, his face taking on many shades of color during the process. Gen Xingming and the others grew anxious behind the tree. A bad angle had prevented them from noticing the leaf-patterned tattoo around Cillin’s finger, not to mention that Cillin had put his hand back into his pocket after revealing it briefly.
It was Cillin’s intention to reveal the leaf-patterned tattoo from the beginning. At first, he wanted to reveal it to Gen Xingming, but he wasn’t able to find a good opportunity to do so, not to mention that Gen Xingming himself looked like an unreliable person. He couldn’t predict the level of commotion the young prince might cause if he were to be allowed to learn about this. When Cillin ran into Gen Xingyao though, he immediately started planning on how best to reveal this information.
As he had expected, Gen Xingyao was a lot more mature than Gen Xingming. The older prince hadn’t made a ruckus upon noticing the proof of identity around Cillin’s finger. Instead, he focused on the bigger picture and sought for the best method to deal with this sudden revelation.
Seeing that the battle had come to a stop, Gen Xingming was about to say something when Gen Xingyao shot him a meaningful glance. They were brothers, so sometimes a glance was all it took for them to understand each other’s thoughts. After seeing the look in his brother’s eyes, Gen Xingming abandoned his thoughts to question Cillin about the martial arts he used earlier. He knew that his brother must’ve noticed more clues than he did, and Gen Xingming was aware that his brother was much more reliable than himself when it came to dealing with official business. In this kind of situation, it was better to follow his brother’s call.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmSeeing that Gen Xingyao’s fight had come to an end, Sula too ceased her attacks. Instead of knocking out both Libero and Ironhead as she originally planned, Sula simply tossed Ironhead away and came to a stop.
It took a long time before the still dizzy Ironhead managed to stagger his way back towards them. The other humanoid who failed to make use of his bone plates much before he was slammed into the ground again and again, Libero was slowly recovering as well. He shook his head once to clear out the dizziness from his head.
“Tell no one about this until I’ve figured things out!”
Gen Xingyao left after throwing down the warning. He left the task of supervising Cillin to Gen Xingming.
Sula shot Cillin a puzzled glance but didn’t ask any unnecessary question. She wasn’t stupid enough to stick her foot into the Fuji royal family’s business. After pressing her serrated blade back into her ankle boots with a finger, she too left the area with a meaningful smile on her face.
It took Libero and Ironhead a long time before they finally recovered themselves.
“Fuck, that woman is ridiculously strong. Her individual fighting strength is no joke at all!” said Libero after he returned back to normal and while rubbing his wounds.
Cillin nodded in agreement. By GAL’s standards, Sula was a well trained rank A genotype fighter, so her superior strength was a matter of course. On the other hand, people like Gen Xingming and Bel might not even be able to fight someone with inferior genotype but was strictly trained despite having good genes. That being said, they didn’t need to fight their enemies themselves. There were plenty of powerful and loyal people who would protect them from all harm. It was the special privilege a noble enjoyed and a perfectly normal occurrence in a system like this.
Cillin had gauged Libero and Ironhead’s strength before. By GAL’s standards, Libero was definitely a rank A genotype humanoid. Ironhead was a bit weaker than Libero, but they might not necessarily be weaker than Sula after they were trained by an affiliated school.
