315 The strange actions of a king
Sakura frowned. “I was taught to hate the Asura race because they made everyone discriminate the demon race worse than before. Humans started a war with us demons while saying it was a holy war and they were doing the job of the dragon gods. It was a centuries-long stalemate, until..” Sakura said while turning her gaze on Vincent.
“The humans summoned a nightmarish murdering otherworlder. But the otherworlder had a change of heart and started saving our kind after almost making a couple of demon races extinct. However, most of the demons still hate the otherworlder for the bloodbaths he left in his wake.” Sakura added the information to her race’s side of the story.
Sakura looked at Vincent and continued, “I was terrified of Vincent at first... but he acted kindly. He reminded me of my kind father and brothers. Then he almost made me lose my breath when he wanted me to join him.”
Vincent warmly smiled. “Sakura, you chose to give me a chance even if your history teaches how bad we otherworlders are. I was summoned and unwanted, but now I have people willing to stay by my side.” Vincent said warmly. He felt thankful for the risk they took to get to know a man who was thought to be a curse upon the land.
“The war didn’t start by chance, though. It is written that a human village saw and killed a crippled starving Asura. The war started when the doubt grew worse, and the rumors were all about the demon race hiding the Asura race.” Lilith informed about the trigger of the war between the human and demon race.
However, the dragon must have considered it a small-scale war because no dragon appeared to keep the balance of the world safe.
“They still live?” Sakura became furious.
“Sakura, you are scaring Lilith. Furthermore, did you forget about people’s greed? It could have been fabricated to steal from the demons such as land, people, and resources.” Vincent quickly said when he saw Lilith fluster and Sakura become angry.
Sakura understood she was in the bad. “I am angry at the Asura and not you. Please do not hate me, Lilith. I am sorry.” She apologized.
.....
“It is fine... the storytime is over. That is all I know from the history taught by books, tutors, and parents.” Lilith replied.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtVincent got up with the chair in his hand and approached Lilith. “You helped us a lot, Lilith.” He placed the chair behind her and asked, “Could you take a seat for me?”
Lilith nodded with a pair of blushing cheeks. She could feel his warm hand gently perched on her shoulder and later his hand reassuringly rubbing her shoulder.
Lilith turned her gaze and saw a reflection of herself in his emerald eyes. Lilith looked nervous in the reflection. She closed her eyes and let him help her sit.
“Ester, Lupa, and Sakura. Lilith has taught us a lot. ” Vincent looked at Sakura and continued, “I am sorry I didn’t ask if you knew about the world from the start, but I wanted to have someone who grew up with noble resources and later share our knowledge based on the subject being discussed.”
“I understand, Vincent. Thank you for your consideration and for not putting me on the spot. I don’t know much other than the collective hidden demon villages at the bottom east corner of this content. There might be more, but the demon nobles probably know.” Sakura mentioned the location of her small demon kingdom, which seems to be located somewhere in the Berlucia Kingdom region.
“Are there a lot of demon race villages and cities?” Vincent curiously asked.
“I only know about my place of birth. Now it can be called a city thanks to the rule of the previous king of the Berlucia Kingdom.” Sakura chuckled and continued, “Humans are so strange, aren’t they? Haha.”
Sakura laughed for a couple of seconds. She looked at Vincent and said, “He was like Vincent. Doing things others would not do. A human is a human, a monster is a monster, and a demon is a demon. Aren’t we all animals? So the demons will have to follow the same laws of the innocent and the guilty.” He told everyone which ended becoming part of our history.”
“We demons are thankful to have a safe place to live for decades now. But we still have human problems. Humans enslave humans, so we still have problems like that... I... I know how it feels.” Sakura said with a frown. She had the gaze of one who planned to go back one day and exact revenge. Her gaze didn’t show sadness anymore now that she had been welcomely accepted.
“Were you taught what the king said? Many hated the king for doing as he pleases, but...” Ester doubted the validity of the king’s words.
“My stepfather praised the king. He said a king is a wise man, and he always acted as if he was searching for a woman from the beginning of enthronement. My father also praised a complicated decision which anyone standing against him went to a distant place...” Ester added more pieces to the puzzle.
“I know! The human was looking for a demon like Sakura and killed anyone who was against getting a mate. I am smart, hehe.” Lupa quickly said to show how smart she was.
“The timeline is similar, and he lived a very long life from consuming items considered treasures. Lupa might be on the right assumption.” Lilith agreed with Lupa.
Lupa smiled and puffed her chest. She felt good being praised for being smart.
[The womanizer of a king wanted a demon woman then. He went to the lengths by allowing demons to at least live in a certain degree of peace and possibly away from the dragon ascent religion condemning all demons as the same.]
-But they have nothing else to steal from the demons. I think they stopped when, as Ester said, the king was a mighty sigil mage that wasn’t afraid of bloodshed.-
[I hope the peace as remains. I hope he was a tyrant on those who deserved it as we have learned about his good deeds.]
Kazumi wishfully said. She was starting to like the king until she heard how he was a tyrant or saint when he wanted. She wasn’t sure anymore.
‘I will take my leave since the four of them look closer. As the saying goes, a man is as happy as his women... I mean, woman. Damn, Kazumi’s harem ideas are starting to get to me.’ He thought.
Vincent walked for the door and said, “Only a few hours passed, so it is still too early to call it a day. The four of you can chat or read a book. I hope my girls can treat each other kindly.” Vincent smiled at the four of them and left.
Lupa, Lilith. and Sakura *gulped* at the same time. Lupa because of her impatience. Lilith because of her nervousness and shortness of breath. Sakura afraid to mistakenly act rough and break some bones.
However, the awkwardness of being in a bedroom didn’t last long. Lupa became impatient when no one spoke. She gazed curiously at the books and asked what was in them.
Lilith revealed a smile and started reading her favorite steamy romance book without a lick of nervousness. She was like a different woman when it involved books she loves to read. On the other hand, Sakura and Ester started chatting when Ester placed the dormant Elsir in Sakura’s hands.
Vincent was walking down the stairs when he heard, “Is my lady with you?”
Vincent turned around and saw Maid Xu and Sofy beside each other. Their hair was a bit messy, and he could hear a stomach grumble faintly.
“Lilith is with Ester, Lupa, and Sakura in Lilith’s bedroom. But it would be best if you went eat first. Yula was in charge of cooking, and there should be more food left. Find her in the kitchen and she will whip you a light meal.” Vincent said.

“Head Maid Xu. How about we visit your lady and ask to bring them refreshments before we eat something?” Sofy interrupted the worrying Maid Xu.
“I... okay.” Maid Xu nodded, and the two elves left.
[I wonder what we should do now.]
“Yeah. ” Vincent said as he descended the stairs. “I will check on Iris, and if she is doing fine, I will go to sit on the sofa. I need to rest my brain.”
[Yup. We learned a lot in a few hours.]
[The name of the world.]
[A world supposedly destroyed yet intact enough to maintain life.]
[Dragons so powerful that are referred to as gods.]
[And most importantly, the Asura mutated.]
[Could the humans of the past randomly used asura technology until they were lucky and made a temporary link to our world because of what happened in the infection mutation disaster you and many suffered from?]
“Yeah. I definitely need a rest.” Vincent walked outside and hid behind the edge of the wall. He saw Plow running about and the children trying to catch her with beaming smiles. Tula was beside Iris, and she was planting a seed.
“Grow big and tasty. Mommy will be happy with me. I will take care of all of you with big sister Iris, hehe.” Tula said with a beaming smile. Iris felt pressured to help Tula raise the magical vegetables without any problems.
Vincent considered helping Iris when she looked too nervous to speak. However, when Vincent was about to approach them and help Iris, he heard her say, “It is a magical vegetable. I can hear it thanking you for planting it with love.”
