Chapter 276
Bailey scoffed coldly.
He couldn't be convicted, but being sent into detention for half a month would tear his reputation into
shreds.
“After his detention ends, I'll send him back to Uramuzor. That was where he came from, so they
should deal with him.”
Meanwhile, Cadence was talking on the phone in his private mansion. After hearing what the person on
the other end of the line had to say, he lost his composure and rose to his feet abruptly.
“Come again? Tarragon's men captured Kayden?”
“Y-Yes, Dr. White. I think things aren't going in the way we want. You should leave Hallsbay as soon as
possible.”
“D*mn it,” Cadence cursed under his breath. Gritting his teeth, he demanded, “Didn't I ask you to send
Kayden to Zaewora? That's a complicated place. How did Tarragon manage to discover him?”
“Dr. White, they came prepared.”
They came prepared? They came prepared...
Something occurred to him as he slumped back into the couch.
“When was Kayden caught?” he asked.
“A-Around three days ago.”
“B*stard! Why did you only report the matter to me today when he was caught three days ago?”
The person on the other end of the line said nothing.
Cadence ran a hand through his hair in frustration and mumbled, “It must be Bailey. It must be her. She
wants me dead. That was why she sent her men to get Kayden. D*mn it. I should've killed that coward
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtback then.”
The person's trembling voice rang out. “T-That wasn't your fault, Dr. White. No one knew Kayden was
an ingrate who kept one last trick up his sleeve. He used the evidence showing that you instructed him
to threaten you. There's no use saying anything now. You should leave Hallsbay right away.”
“F*ck! Kayden is in Bailey's hands. Even if I leave Hallsbay, it won't change anything!” Cadence roared
angrily. “Bunch of useless tw*ts can't even keep an eye on one man. Bailey must've gotten the
evidence showing that I instructed him to tamper with the new drug. If she exposes it, my reputation will
be in tatters. Do you understand?”
Cadence couldn't tamp down his anger and flung his phone away forcefully.
What should I do? I can't sit and wait for that to happen, can I? No, I can't be a sitting duck. What is
Bailey's weakness? Her children. Right. I could force her to give up the evidence she received from
Kayden if I were to abduct her children.
With that thought in mind, he quickly got to work.
After making the necessary preparations, he was about to head out when a mocking voice sounded
outside. “Mr. White, are you heading out? We're friends, so it's more appropriate for you to welcome
me at home.”
Cadence shuddered violently when he heard the female voice.
The next second, despair crept up his face.
She's too fast. Before I even realized it, she's already discovered my den.
Bailey strolled in casually and curled her red lips into a smirk. “It has been a while since we last met,
Cadence.”
Slowly, Cadence turned around and took in her cheerful expression. A roiling hatred surged through
him.
“Yes, it has been a while since we last met. If it wasn't for you, I would've successfully gotten Cataleya
to be my mentor. Anonymous, I've never stopped thinking about you over the years,” he uttered.
Bailey raised her eyebrow and grinned. “Thanks for remembering me. Alas, I forgot all about you. Sorry
about that. If you hadn't poisoned Max, I wouldn't have noticed you. A loser isn't worth my time and
effort.”
Furious, Cadence dashed to a rack and twisted a decorative item on it.
The next second, a thin mist descended from the ceiling.
“Go to hell!”
Bailey's expression grew stern. She retreated and shouted at Artemis, “Bring your men out of the living
room. This is a poisonous mist.”
Footsteps sounded behind her. Suddenly, she realized she had bumped into someone's chest.
Bailey nearly suffocated from her fury. “Artemis Luther, leave right now!” she ordered.
Artemis smirked. “We live and die together.”
F*ck you!
Bailey fought back the urge to curse out loud. She grabbed his hand and ran out of the mansion.
“There is an underground tunnel beneath the mansion. He must be planning to escape using it. Send
your men after him. I can't let him get away.”
Half an hour later, Bailey slammed her fist into a tree trunk next to the boulevard.
“D*mn it! You surrounded the entire place tightly, but he still managed to escape. He's a ticking time
bomb, so the people around me are in danger.”
Artemis glanced around and comforted her, “Man proposes, but God disposes. As he successfully
escaped, it means that he isn't meant to die today. I'll station my men at the sea, land, and airports. He
won't be able to flee the country.”
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmHaving said that, he arched a brow and changed the topic abruptly. “Zayron and Susan might be in
danger, so you can't stay in Shelbert Condominium anymore. You should move into my private
residence.”
Ratemis, is it nice to plunder a burning house?
At the Jefferson residence, Rhonda had just stepped out of the intricately-carved door when a large
palm covered her mouth. In the next instant, she was dragged behind a large tree.
She instinctively tried to struggle, but a familiar voice rang in her ear. “Don't alert the security room. It's
me, Cadence.”
Rhonda grunted twice in acknowledgment. When he finally removed his hand from her mouth, she
immediately demanded, “It's past midnight. Why are you at my house?”
Cadence's face was dark as he growled, “I've been exposed. Bailey knows that I was the one who
instructed Kayden to tamper with the new drug. She has all the evidence, so I'll be doomed if she were
to catch me.”
Oh, is that so?
Rhonda's eyes lit up. That's good news. If he's doomed, I will no longer be under his control.
Rhonda was now Artemis' wife in name. As long as he didn't ask for a divorce, she could be “Mrs.
Luther” for the rest of her life. Thus, Cadence was of no use to her anymore.
As though he had sensed her intention, Cadence gripped her chin and sneered, “Be good if you don't
want your nudes to spread all over the Internet. There's no way you'll get rid of me even if I'm doomed.
We're on the same boat, so if either of us gets into trouble, the other will get affected, too.”
The color drained out of Rhonda's face. “W-What do you mean?”
Cadence patted her cheek and flashed a menacing grin. “Yeah, it's exactly what you think.”
With that said, he tossed her into the bush and towered above her. “Listen carefully. From now on, do
whatever I say. Otherwise, I shall release your nudes to the public so you'll become a sl*t scorned by
everyone,” he ordered.
