Chapter 398
“What's the situation?”
“Ms. Juliana, Mr. Shurmer will be attending a dinner tonight at Century Hotel. He would be resting in his
private suite as per his habit before the dinner begins.”
Juliana tightened her grip on the phone. “Okay, I get it. Everything is to go according to plan.”
“Understood.”
After hanging up, Juliana glanced at the room behind her, a look of resoluteness crossing her gaze.
She had to return to her family, or else Wendy and Sebastian would be in great trouble.
It would be likely that she would never be able to leave if she returned to them, so she was determined
to fulfill a dream of hers before that and give her romance a proper ending.
The triennial International Racecar Tournament was held at Hallsbay.
When the official list of participants was announced, the public went into an uproar.
First, the Legendary Racer Adhira wasn't among the participants.
Second, Dexter Nicholson, Chanaea's best racer wouldn't be joining the tournament due to personal
reasons and had had his friend take his place.
The two shocking news caused a commotion among online fans.
F*ck, I have been conned by official news! Didn't they announce that Adhira would be joining? I was
hoping to witness her in action!
Geez, capitalists sure are abominable. They shamelessly threw in Adhira's name just so the event
could gain higher popularity.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtF*cking hell. I'm fine with Adhira not joining the tournament given that she's the Legendary Racer, but
Dexter's absence is just unreasonable! By the way, who is it that's going to take his place?
I'm curious. Logically speaking, substitutes aren't allowed in tournaments like this, so how did Dexter
manage it? Who the hell is taking his place?
Who knows. We'll see in three days when the tournament begins.
...
Bailey could hardly contain her laughter when she went through the comments online.
Why is life so hard? All I want is some peace and quiet, but the outside world constantly denies me
that.
She could already imagine the ruckus created by her taking Dexter's place in the tournament.
Her phone rang. When she took it out, she saw that it was a call from Victoria.
Her heart skipped a beat as she picked up the call.
“Where are you, Vicky?”
She could hear the sea breeze and the sounds of children playing.
“Are you by the beach?”
“Yeah. I'm currently at Belmonia Island. I've been wanting to visit the place for a long time but never got
the chance to do that. Now that I've gone globe-trotting, I would like to visit all the places that I've
wanted to visit.
Bailey couldn't help but laugh. “I've been wondering how you're doing and worried if you're well-
nourished. And here you are, having the best time of your life. When are you planning on coming
back?”
“I won't be back for some time. My father is always saddened when he sees me in such a state. His
health is declining, so I don't want to trigger him. How have you been? I saw the news. Artemis had
announced you and your children's relationship with him. When will you be holding your wedding
ceremony?”
Bailey arched her brows. When she looked up, she saw Artemis coming out of the kitchen with two
dishes. A smile formed on her lips.
“We might be getting married in a few days. Would you like to attend my wedding?”
“Of course.”
Bailey went to the balcony. After some hesitation, she chose to speak up. “Vicky, I think there's
something that I need you to know. Lionel and Wendy aren't married, and Sebastian isn't Lionel's kid
either.”
Clang!
A loud noise came through from the other side of the line. It sounded like something dropping onto the
floor.
“Are you okay, Vicky?”
“I-I'm fine. I lost my grip on my mug and dropped it on the table. I need to get a change of clothes. I'll
call you some other time, Bay.”
Bailey didn't press for more, for she was aware that Victoria would need some time to digest the news
she just got.
After hanging up, she sent Victoria a text.
Fated connections don't come by easily, so they're extremely precious. All we can do is treasure them,
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmVicky. There're a lot more people who had fared worse than you did. A friend of mine had suffered the
bone-grinding pain of losing her child. Yet, she is stubbornly alive despite that. The only way to
resurrect yourself is by mustering up the courage to face your pain.
She spent a minute waiting on the balcony after sending the text, only turning around to reenter the
living room when she received no reply.
A smile crept onto her lips when she noticed the aroma permeating the room.
After casting her phone onto the couch, she headed for the kitchen.
She could see from afar a tall and lean figure busying himself in front of the cooking top.
Fate was magical indeed.
Half a year ago, she wouldn't have believed in her wildest dreams that she would, one day, cross paths
with Artemis and even fall so deeply in love with him.
However, all of that came true after half a year. Not only did she start living with the man, but he also
happened to be the one who was beyond her reach.
As her thoughts ran rampant, she arrived at the kitchen. Upon reaching out to circle her arms around
Artemis' waist, she thanked him in a low voice, “Artemis, I'm grateful for all the touching and passionate
moments that you have offered me.”
Artemis turned off the stove and pushed her against the cabinet, drowning her in passionate kisses that
overwhelmed her instantly.
After Zayron entered the kitchen, he checked the food in the pot while ignoring his parents who were
engaged in a passionate kiss. With a pout, he complained, “You guys are so sappy! I've lost all my
appetite now!”
Bailey pushed away the man who was pressed against her to whack her son on the back of his head.
