Chapter 407
Watching her son's leaving silhouette, Olivia patted the back of Scarlett's hand and whispered, “Calm
down. He'll be yours tonight.”
Scarlett forced an awkward smile. “If you hadn't stood up for me, I would've been walked over by
Justin.”
“Oh, don't be silly.” Olivia stroke Scarlett's head before pushing her away. “He's gone upstairs. I need to
give the housekeepers some instructions. You wait here on the couch. I'll be back in a while.”
“All right. Go on ahead. I'll leave everything to you.”
Olivia headed straight to the kitchen.
There, she filled up half a bowl of soup and ordered the housekeeper to bring it up to Justin.
“Tell him that the soup was prepared specifically for him. After all, drinking alcohol on an empty
stomach later is bad for health.”
“Yes, Mrs. Xuereb.”
Twenty minutes later, Justin emerged from the bathroom wearing a bathrobe.
The moment he entered the changing room, he stopped abruptly in his tracks, a grim expression on his
face.
He turned around and threw his gaze at the porcelain bowl on the table.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtDamn it! Someone has spiked that bowl of soup with a strong aphrodisiac.
He couldn't believe something like that would happen to him at home.
Under normal circumstances, he wouldn't have been worried about such drugs, as an antidote of his
would be able to negate the effects. The problem was that he was currently at home, while the antidote
he created was at the medical base.
Before he lost his mind, he swiftly picked up his phone and sent a message to Veronique: I've been
drugged by something potent, and it can only be neutralized by an antidote. Bring it to me from the third
drawer in my study. Hurry! I'm afraid I can't control myself much longer.
No sooner had he sent the message than someone opened his bedroom door.
It was none other than Scarlett.
When she saw Justin wrapped only in a bathrobe with sweat beading off his face, she exclaimed,
“Justin, what's wrong? Why is your face so red?”
Justin pursed his lips when the reason his mother drugged him became evident.
He couldn't believe how reckless his own mother was in trying to get someone else to bed him despite
the fact that he was already a family man.
Does she realize she's forcing her own son to cheat?
“Why are you here?”
Pointing downstairs, Scarlett replied shyly, “Your father was wondering what was holding you up and
asked me to check on you.”
Justin waved his hand and responded sternly, “I got it. I'll be right down. You can leave now.”
“Um, you don't look right. Are you having a fever?” Leave? I have no intention of doing so the moment I
walked through that door.
She walked up to him as she spoke.
Justin narrowed his eyes and raised his voice as he said, “Get out of my room now! Otherwise, I'm
going to throw you out.”
Scarlett was taken aback by his hostility.
Nonetheless, cognizant that this was her only opportunity, she mustered all the courage she had.
She knew that a second chance would never come her way.
“Justin, you're in a bad mood because of your fever. Why don't you lie down while I get you some
medicine?”
She rushed up to his side. At the very last moment, she pretended to trip on her own leg, hurtling her
body into his arms.
When she lay her hands on his burning chest, she exclaimed, “Justin, you're burning up! You really do
have a fever.”
She pushed him toward his bed while fanning his lust further by caressing his chest.
Justin looked at her coldly.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm“What's the point in all of this? I have a wife and son, and yet, you're still deluding yourself by resorting
to such despicable schemes?”
Scarlett stared blankly at him. “I don't know what you're talking about, Justin. The fever must be
clouding your mind.”
Justin snorted. “Do you take me for a fool? If not for the fact that we go way back, I would have kicked
you out of the house for your actions earlier. You better get out before I lose all my rationality. Don't
disgrace yourself this way.”
Scarlett looked at him through her misty eyes and choked out, “Do you really hate me that much?
Justin, I've loved you for seven whole years, which should mean something to you. But why is your
heart still frozen like a rock?”
“You're right about the seven years. During that entire period, I couldn't bring myself to love you no
matter how much I tried. It proves that we're just not meant to be together. Even if you sully yourself
tonight, it changes nothing. I don't love you. I won't marry you even if I sleep with you.”
Scarlett bit her lip in seething anger, her tears streaming endlessly to the ground. After a momentary
silence, a resolute look returned to her eyes.
“It's fine if you have no feelings for me. My love for you is all that matters. Losing you will drive me
mad.”
With that, she began to rip off his bathrobe.
Justin was on the brink of losing his senses, his eyes bloodshot. He could barely resist such visual
stimulation.
While struggling to stop her, he desperately suppressed the effects of the drug within him.
His only hope then lay with Veronique.
