Chapter 483
Since Bailey isn't a member of the Jefferson family, she must belong somewhere. She's born on the
same day as Zoey and grows up to look like Mom years later, yet Zoey doesn't resemble any of the
Shurmer family members. That fact alone, I'm sure there are many secrets hidden between the lines.
However, the paternity test disclaimed any biological ties between the two. I even asked a friend
stationed overseas to run a paternity test for me, but the results were the same. I don't understand
where it went wrong. Was there an issue with the data of the blood sample? After all, that data was
taken from the Security Agency's system. There's a likelihood it had been tampered with.
Zeke jolted to his feet at that possibility.
No! I have to find a way to get some of Bailey's hair and rerun the test. I'll only trust the result with a
sample that's taken directly from her. There's a possibility of any other data being tampered with.
Zeke's heart clenched as he read each one of the accusations and verbal abuse directed at Bailey.
If Bailey truly is my sister, I won't let anyone trample all over her or hurl insults at her like this. A
daughter of the Shurmer family should be the most distinguished princess. Outsiders can only look up
to her and are forbidden to speak ill of her.
The sky had turned dark when Bailey and Artemis arrived at the base.
Raiden was about to lead them to the dungeon after a short chat, but Artemis frowned disapprovingly.
“My wife is pregnant with bad morning sickness. The strong smell of blood will trigger her reflux. We
won't be heading down to the dungeon. Have someone clean up the person and bring him over.”
Bailey glared at Artemis and turned her gaze to Raiden. “Don't listen to him. I'm not that precious. Lead
us to the dungeon.”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtRaiden shook his head. “Indeed, it was my oversight. I apologize for I don't have any experience of
being a father, so I'm oblivious to knowledge like this. Have a seat, and I'll be right back.”
After watching Raiden leave, Bailey said frustratingly, “Artemis, can you not aggravate him? He knows
I'm pregnant, and it's your baby. Can you please stop bringing up my pregnancy? It's hurtful to him.”
Artemis snorted and released her waist as he strode over to the couch. “I'm only worried about your
morning sickness, hence my reminder. I didn't—whatever. I don't want to talk about this. It's pointless to
talk it out with you.”
Bailey was speechless at his accusation.
Ten minutes later, Raiden called for his men to haul a man who looked to be around thirty years old into
the living room.
Bailey rose to her feet and approached the man. “Are you going to give it up willingly, or do you want
me to force you with hypnosis?”
A cold grin formed on the spy's face. “That's useless against me since I've gone through the most
ruthless psychological training. You can't control my thoughts even if you use hypnosis.”
“Is that so?” Bailey's lips quirked up. “What if I say I'm Ethereal? Do you think I can pry your mouth
open?”
The spy lifted his head and looked at Bailey in surprise. “Y-You're Ethereal? The top hypnotist,
Ethereal, who combined hypnosis and lucid dreaming which can breakthrough every obsession and
delusion?”
Bailey patted his shoulder and smiled. “You can doubt my identity, but think it through. If you doubt me,
I have no choice but to use hypnosis to break into your mind. Don't blame me once I pry into something
private after I gain control over your thoughts.”
The spy began to panic. “What if I reveal the whereabouts of the emerald seal? Can you not hypnotize
me?”
“Sure,” Bailey agreed without any hesitation. “I'll not only spare you from the hypnosis as long as you
reveal the whereabouts of the red emerald, but I'll also grant you freedom.”
The spy's lips pressed into a thin line as he contemplated his choices. “Can you guarantee my safety?
The buyer who purchased the red emerald is too powerful. It'll be a sure death for me if I rat on him.”
“I can do that,” Bailey agreed instantly. “Having a capable guy with such excellent physical qualities as
my subordinate isn't a bad choice. I'll ask Veikko to protect you.”
A surprised look crept up the spy's face when he heard the name Veikko.
“Veikko? Are you referring to the Veikko from the Saviors? You're also part of the Saviors?”
With a smile, Bailey corrected him, “Let me correct a word here. I'm the founder of the Saviors.”
After a moment of silence, the spy gritted his teeth as though he had made a decision. “It was someone
from the Hoffman family who bought the red emerald. That family has been in turmoil all these years.
Their offspring began to dwindle, and they've already started on a downward slope. To fortify their
status, they took the advice of some international geomancer to search for the emerald seal that bred
the people of Chanaea and place it at home. The geomancer guaranteed the Hoffman family would rise
to be the top family in the international arena in less than a century.”
Bailey and Artemis exchanged a glance.
They doubted the spy's words but didn't catch any loophole in his story. It seemed realistic, yet that was
all the more reason to be suspicious.
There were two likelihoods. It was either he had been through it, so everything he said was the truth, or
he had come up with the story after he was caught and planned to get away with it.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmHowever, Bailey was more inclined toward the former. After all, she had already revealed her identity
as Ethereal, so it would be pointless for the spy to lie. She could still find out the truth via hypnosis.
“All right, I believe you. You'll be staying with the Saviors for now to hide. I'll have Veikko come and
fetch you.” She then looked over her shoulder at Raiden with a complicated expression on his face.
“Can I take him with me?”
“Sure.” Raiden hollered to his men to drag the spy away, then said, “The Hoffman family is the overlord
of Adrune. I don't have that long of a reach.”
Bailey rolled her eyes at him.
Why can't he just ask me outright if he needs my help?
“Let me call my disciple. She has already returned to the Hoffman family's side. I'll have her investigate
and see if she can find any clue.”
“All right. Thank you.”
Bailey didn't know how to respond to his shamelessness. This guy accepted my offer so readily.
The next day, the butler at the Saunders residence hurried into the living room. “Ms. Saunders, Mr.
Gezmond is currently waiting outside. He said he's here to visit Mr. Saunders.”
Victoria scrunched her brows. “Ask him to leave. The Saunders family doesn't welcome him,” she said
coldly.
“But...” The butler was in a difficult position. “Anyone who visits is our guest. Isn't it inappropriate to
reject their visit?”
Victoria's expression darkened. “Why should we let him in? So he can continue to anger Dad? Do you
think he hasn't caused enough harm to the Saunders family?”
The butler didn't dare to persuade Victoria any longer. “All right, then. I'll have him leave immediately.”
A flurry of footsteps came from the stairs just as the butler was about to take his leave. A maid ran
down the stairs and said, “Ms. Saunders, Mr. Saunders said to invite Mr. Gezmond in for a chat
upstairs. He has something to discuss with Mr. Gezmond.”
