Chapter 491
Ten Acclaimed Socialites?
Zeke frowned and commented in a low voice, “That's nothing but a name. Why are you being so
persistent?”
Zoey's eyes reddened as she heard that.
Why am I so persistent? Because I'm not the Shurmer family's daughter. If my identity is revealed, I'll
no longer be able to stay at the Shurmer residence. While I'm still useful in the eyes of everyone in the
Shurmer family, I must make every effort to reach the top. Only if I did this would I have something to
fall back on if I was chased out of the house.
“Zeke, this shouldn't be a problem for you, right? Several pharmaceutical factories under the Shurmer
family have produced anti-cancer drugs and made great contributions to humankind. If you speak up,
I'm sure the International Socialite Club will show you some respect and re-enter me into Ten
Acclaimed Socialites.”
Zeke locked his gaze on Zoey for a moment before slowly rising from his swivel chair and walking
around the curved desk to approach her.
“Zoey, is the status of the Shurmer family's daughter not enough? Do you really have to fight for those
useless things? In your eyes, the status of the Shurmer family's daughter is inferior to that of Ten

“No, no, no.” Zoey hurriedly shook her head. “In my eyes, the Shurmer family is the most important. I've
always been proud to be a member of the Shurmer family. It's just that I was originally one of the Ten
Acclaimed Socialites. If Bailey hadn't sent me to jail, I—”
“Enough.” Zeke raised his voice all of a sudden and chastised, “You bribed the person in charge of the
pharmaceutical factory to add other ingredients to the anti-cancer drug, disregarding human lives. If
Bailey hadn't gone easy on you, do you think it would have been as simple as losing your status as an
acclaimed socialite and being detained for only half a month? If she really wanted to ruin you, you'd be
sentenced to at least three years in prison.”
Biting her lip, Zoey looked at him with tears in her eyes and uttered, “Zeke, you're taking Bailey's side?
She's just an outsider. She snatched my man away from me, made me lose my status, and humiliated
me, but instead of helping me, you defended the culprit.”
The veins on Zeke's forehead were visibly bulging. It was obvious that he was trying his best to
suppress his rage.
“Bailey isn't as bad as you think. She has let you go several times. You're the only one to blame for
losing your status as an acclaimed socialite. As for Artemis, he was never yours, to begin with. What's
the point of trying to make things work between the two of you? Zoey, if you still consider us to be your
family, stay at home obediently. You're no longer young. I'll arrange a marriage for you when I have the
time. Your wedding will be grand and magnificent, I promise. You'll always have the Shurmer family's
support. Your life won't be difficult.”
“No!” Zoey bellowed hysterically. “I don't want to get married. I'm still young. I want to stay in the
Shurmer residence for a few more years.” Having said that, she grabbed Zeke's arm and pleaded,
“Zeke, please don't marry me off, okay?”
With a grim expression, Zeke stretched out his hand to push her away. He seemed a little apathetic,
having completely lost his patience.
“That's all I have to say. Think carefully. If you marry as the daughter of the Shurmer family, at least
your in-laws won't look down on you. If you insist on pursuing Artemis and going against Bailey, don't
come to me if anything happens in the future. I won't condone you anymore. If you should go to jail,
you'll go to jail. You're an adult now and must take responsibility for your actions.”
Hearing that, Zoey took a few steps back and stared at Zeke in disbelief. “Zeke, are you planning to
sever all ties with me? Are we no longer siblings in the future?”
Zeke cast her a meaningful glance. As he walked toward the door, he replied, “If you stay at home
obediently and don't covet things that aren't yours, I can guarantee you a happy and comfortable life.
However, if you continue to pester Artemis and hurt Bailey, don't blame me for being ruthless.”
Zoey was at a loss for words.
Her eyes were filled with hatred when she stared at Zeke's receding figure. Gritting her teeth, she

wounds.
What she had dreaded the most had happened.
Zeke had chosen Bailey over her.
She was unsure if Zeke was aware of Bailey's identity. However, based on that alone, she would not let
Bailey off the hook.
I'd rather destroy what I couldn't get than hand it over to that b*tch. Never.
In the bedroom of the Saunders residence, Vincent was on the verge of passing away.
Bailey gave him a shot in the arm before turning to face Victoria and saying, “His organs are no longer
functioning. There's nothing I can do to save him. Vicky, make the most of the time you have left.”
With that said, Bailey walked out of the bedroom.
In an instant, Victoria collapsed to the ground, reached out to hold her father's hand, and choked out, “I
know you're in a hurry to meet Mom, and she has been waiting for you for many years, so I won't force
you to stay. Dad, farewell.”
Although Vincent wanted to raise his arm to touch his daughter's head, he was unable to do so
because all of the muscles in his arm were dead.
“Y-You and L-Lio—”
Victoria knew what he wanted to say and quickly interjected, “Don't worry. Lionel and I have gone to
City Hall to register our marriage. It's a regret that I can't walk arm-in-arm with you down the aisle.”
