Chapter 506
Shannon quickly wiped her tears and wrapped her arm around her mother's before walking up the
steps.
“I'm fine and doing well. I've led a peaceful life all this while. There weren't any killings, bloodshed, or
gunfights. My days have been so peaceful that I have gradually forgotten what it was like to live like a
lifeless puppet.”
Before Ivy could ask further, Holden shot a glance at her, signaling for her to stop pressing on for
answers.
Ivy sighed softly before saying, “My health has deteriorated over the past few years. Otherwise, I would
have looked for you personally. After almost six years of endless searching, your brother was still
unable to find you. I thought you were already...”
The woman stopped short and immediately corrected herself. “What am I talking about? I take it back.
You're standing in front of me right now. Seeing that you're safe and sound, there's really nothing more
I can ask for.”
Shannon's expression brightened as the corners of her mouth curled up into a faint smile. She was
relieved to see her mother, and the gloomy air that was previously surrounding her seemed to have
dissipated.
“Mother, I'm just grateful that you are still alive. By the way, you must have heard about Holden's kid,
right?”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtA shocked expression appeared on Ivy's face at once. Subconsciously, she looked toward her son and
asked, “Is what your sister just said true?”
Holden smiled and replied, “He went out with his mom to visit her friend. They will be back in the
afternoon. Please be patient and wait for a while.”
Ivy was ecstatic to hear that. However, her overexcitement had probably triggered her ailment, and the
woman started coughing violently.
“Mother, are you okay?”
“I'm fine. I'm okay. I'm just so happy.”
Shannon breathed a sigh of relief before her eyes dimmed.
If Eugene were still alive, he would have been five years old. Shannon could not help but imagine how
delighted her mother would have been to know that she had another grandson.
At the thought of her son, who had died a terrible death, Shannon's expression slowly turned grim.
From the corner of his eye, Holden noticed that something was off about Shannon. He could more or
less guess what was on her mind and quickly changed the topic. “The two of you haven't seen each
other for some time. I'm sure you have a lot to talk to each other about. Let's go sit down on the couch
and have a good chat.”
Shannon suppressed the waves of sorrow in her heart and recomposed herself. A moment later, a
smile resurfaced on her face.
Just then, the butler was seen approaching them in a hurry from the courtyard. While walking, he said,
“Mr. Lewitt, Mr. Neyman is here. He has something urgent to speak to you about.”
Holden knitted his brows. After a few seconds of silence, he said in a deep voice, “Ask him to wait for
me at Tarragon's branch. I will head over shortly.”
“I heard that Aunt Ivy is in Hallsbay and have specially come to visit her. Holden, you are not going to
turn me away, right? I'm your guest after all.”
Micah strode in after breaking through the bodyguards' defense.
Holden's expression turned grim before he said with displeasure, “Micah, this is my private residence. If
you have anything to discuss with me, we can talk at the branch. Are you trying to challenge my
authority by barging into my house like that?”
Micah stopped when he reached the bottom of the steps and looked up at Ivy and Shannon.
“I haven't seen you in a few years, Aunt Ivy. How have you been?”
The smile on Ivy's face faded.
Even though she did not know exactly what her daughter had been through over the past few years,
she would never forget the painful experience they shared six years ago.
Ivy blamed herself for not being able to do anything while her daughter was being framed. She went
around begging for help but to no avail, and in the end, Shannon was forced to lose one arm.
Ivy wasn't present at the scene on that fateful day, but she heard that Micah was there.
Moreover, it was him, the man whom Shannon had loved deeply for many years, who had suggested
chopping off her arm.
Ivy could not imagine how painful it must have been for her child back then, not so much because of
losing her arm, but because of Micah's ruthlessness toward her.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm“Oh, it's Mr. Neyman. I think it's better that you address me as Mrs. Lewitt. I don't deserve to be your
Aunt Ivy.”
When Micah heard that, he forced an awkward smile and replied, “Aunt Ivy, please don't say that. You
watched me grow up, and I have always regarded you as my own mother. I will always hold you in high
esteem.”
Ivy had a gloomy look on her face. She wanted to bring up the past but was worried that Shannon
would be triggered.
“Shannon, let's talk inside,” she said to her daughter.
Shannon nodded and turned to walk toward the living room while holding her mother's arm.
Instinctively, Micah followed behind them, but Holden suddenly got in his way and stopped him from
advancing.
“Shannon's life has been a living hell for the past few years. After experiencing so much all by herself,
she finally gets to be in the comforting arms of our mother. So please stop showing up in front of her
and disrupting her peace. Can't you just let her fully enjoy this moment?”
Micah pressed his lips tightly together while watching Ivy and Shannon enter the living room.
He had finally gotten to see Shannon, and all he wanted was to stay by her side and watch over her.
“Holden, please give her back to me.”
Holden furrowed his brows and sneered, “Give her back to you so that you can continue hurting her?”
“I won't.” With a serious expression on his face, Micah continued, “I won't let her get hurt again. Holden,
you should know how much I love her. I can't live without her.”
Holden glanced at the man coldly and replied mercilessly, “You can just die if you can't live without her.
You claimed that you love her, but if you really love her, why did you let those people chop her arm off
without doing anything? If you really love her, why did you allow Yvette to fabricate the car accident that
killed her son?”
