Chapter 608 Something Must Have Happened
In the infirmary of the Gezmond residence, Bailey came out of the operating room, her expression extremely
solemn.
When Lionel saw that, his heart sank to rock bottom.
“What's the matter? The baby couldn't be saved?”
Bailey shook her head and sighed. “The baby is safe right now, but it's pretty unstable. For the next three months,
she has to stay in bed as much as possible and refrain from being too emotional. Otherwise, she might lose the
baby in her belly.”
Lionel breathed a sigh of relief and mumbled, “I'm glad everything's fine. From now on, I'll be extra careful in
ensuring she won't get too worked up and affect the baby.”
A look of worry manifested on Bailey's face.
Ensuring she doesn't get too worked up for the next three months? That's tougher than climbing the highest
mountain on earth. If Victor refuses to stop bothering Victoria, she'll definitely be affected by him. If that jerk does
anything outrageous, such as retrieving Mr. Saunders' ashes from the cemetery as a threat, Victoria will surely get
mad and inevitably suffer a miscarriage. That's certainly something that jerk would do. He has lost his mind. There's
nothing he's not capable of doing.
“Take her overseas for some time if that's possible. Victor will affect her, and we must keep our guard against him.”
After some deliberation, Lionel reckoned Bailey's idea was feasible. Following a nod, he said, “All right. I'll settle
some matters in Hallsbay, then take her overseas to recuperate.” He then lifted his head and looked at the
operating room before him. “She's so weak now. Will she be strong enough to travel far?”
Bailey gave it some thought. “Let her stay in bed for a week first. By then, you'll probably finish settling the matters
in Hallsbay. I'll prescribe her some anti-abortifacient. There shouldn't be a problem.”

“You're welcome.”
Later that night, Bailey left the Gezmond residence and returned to Justin's medical base.
Felicity's condition had gotten much better. Even though she had yet to regain consciousness, all her vitals had
returned to normal.
Bailey was, in fact, not worried. Given her medical skills, she knew she could find a treatment method for Felicity.
At the moment, her mind was preoccupied with two matters: Caridee's right arm and researching anti-cancer
medicine.
She was in control over two lives.
Based on the intentions Justin expressed, he would most likely follow Veronique if she died.
The couple's fate was in her hands.
In the study, Bailey was formulating a treatment plan for Caridee's arm when the room door suddenly flew open.
From outside, Zeke and Zayron barged in.
Anxiety was written all over their faces as if something serious had happened.
“What's wrong with the two of you? You guys look as though a rabid dog is chasing after the two of you.”
Zayron ran up to the desk, sprawled on it, and panted lightly.
Instinctively, Bailey reached out to pat his back to help him breathe easier.
When she looked up and saw the troubled expression on Zeke's face, her curiosity intensified.
“What is it? Can't you two not keep me in suspense and just tell me already?”
“Tarragon's leader has issued a global kill order. He wants to claim your head. I've received news that many top
killers are charging toward Hallsbay. What the heck is Artemis doing? How can he mobilize so many killers to kill
you?”
Bailey halted her actions and stared at Zeke in shock. In a trembling voice, she asked, “W-What did you say? A-
Artemis issued a global kill order to kill me?”
Zeke shifted his gaze away and uttered, “I don't care what reasons he has. He's wrong for putting you in danger.
There are so many killers heading here. If someone with ill intention uses this opportunity to kill you, the rest of us
will be as good as dead.”
Bailey got up from the chair instantly. There was a rare look of distress on her usually indifferent countenance.
“Something must've happened to him. Either he got his freedom restricted, or he got controlled by someone. I
can't stay here and do nothing. I have to make a trip down to Tarragon's headquarters.”
With that, she bypassed the desk and strode toward the door.
Perhaps because her body was shaking, she was stumbling in her tracks. She looked as if she would trip and fall at
any time.
As soon as she reached the door, she was halted by Edmund, who was walking in.
“Move aside, Edmund. I'm going to look for Artemis. He must be in grave danger now.”
Edmund heaved a sigh and reached out to grab her shoulder. “Bailey, calm down. If you're right about him getting
restricted or controlled, you can't head to Tarragon. Without his protection, you heading there is no different from
courting death.”
As he said that, he tilted his head to look at Zayron and asked, “Are you sure Tarragon's leader is the one who
issued the kill order, Zayron? Did he give any reason why he did so?”
Zayron's face was drained of all colors.
He was not stupid. On the contrary, he was far more perceptive.
He sensed a trace of conspiracy from his father's unusual actions.
“The people at Tarragon claimed that the Saviors ambushed several of their divisions and caused numerous

avenge those who died.”
Bailey struggled to break free from Edmund's grasp. “Artemis isn't the one who issued the order. Someone must've
used his name to control the whole Tarragon. I'm sure he's in danger now. No, I have to think of a way to go and
meet him. Get out of my way.”
Zeke strolled up to where she was, grabbed her by the arm, and roared, “Calm down. You're forsaking your
rationality for a man. Is he more important than your life?”
Without thinking, Bailey said, “Yes, he's much more important than my life, so let me go. I have to go save him.”
Instead of responding, Zeke grabbed her arm forcefully, refusing to let go despite her struggles.
After keeping mum for a long moment, he said, “Didn't Shannon's brother, Holden, head back to Tarragon's
headquarters together with him? Why don't you try contacting her and ask her about it?”
At that, Bailey instantly fell silent.
“That's right. Holden followed him back to the headquarters too. I'll call Shannon now and ask if she can contact her
brother.”
She shrugged Zeke's grip off, walked back to the desk, and reached for her phone to call Shannon.
“Sorry, the number you have dialed is not in service.”
Bailey's hand trembled, and the phone slipped out of her hand, falling onto the table.
“Shannon's in trouble. Something must've happened to her.”
Edmund hurriedly said, “I know where Holden's place is in Hallsbay. Let me send someone to check it out.”
He then pulled out his phone and walked aside to make a call.
Feeling the last bit of patience drained out of her, Bailey turned to Zeke and said, “I'm very calm now, Zeke. I won't
be impulsive. Accompany me to Holden's place, will you?”
Well aware that Bailey could not wait any more, Zeke nodded and answered, “Okay. Let's head over now.”
