Chapter 621 My Husband Is Coming Back Very Soon
Lionel trembled violently.
I know Vicky has a unique physique, and it'll be difficult for her to conceive in the future. But what does that matter?
Henceforth, I'll be her child, and she'll be mine. It'll be nice for us to support each other throughout the rest of our
days. Verily, that would be great!
“Perform a D&C on her, and do your best to minimize the damage to her body.”
“Understood.”
Bailey did not perform the procedure personally.
It would be overly cruel to have her remove a dead fetus from within her best friend's body.
She could not bring herself to do so, nor did she dare to face it.
Those whom Lionel hired were likely the top obstetric experts in the world, so she believed they could handle it well.
“Call me if an emergency happens. I'll be waiting outside,” Bailey instructed.
Afterward, she walked out of the room, dragging Lionel along with her.
“Don't watch it. You might not be able to handle it. It's far better for you to avoid seeing it entirely rather than be
pained by it,” she said.
Truth be told, Lionel was averse to doing so since he wanted to keep Victoria company through her suffering.
Exerting all her strength, Bailey hauled him away from the room.
In the corridor outside, she slowly released her hold on his arm.
“Are you really planning to give up just like this?” she demanded in a hoarse voice.
Shaking his head, Lionel chuckled woefully. “It's not a matter of whether I'm planning to give up right now. Instead,
it's that of her willingness to see me. How am I to keep her company when she's so emotional?”
At that, Bailey shot him a cold look and asserted solemnly, “The more she's unwilling to see you, the more you must
pester her shamelessly. Lionel, the grievances of the previous generation shouldn't be paid for by the next. You
shouldn't be bearing your father's sins.”
“I know.”
“It's to be expected that Vicky can't accept the truth of her mother's death when she'd just learned about it a while
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtago. Give her some time. She'll understand. As for having a child, it's actually not a problem. When the time is right,
I'll just perform IVF treatment for you both.”
“Thank you.”
Bailey initially wanted to speak further, but she swallowed the words on the tip of her tongue upon glimpsing
Lionel's stoic expression.
He must be in excruciating agony inwardly from having just lost his child. There's no point in me chastising and
lecturing him. No one else in this world loves Vicky more than he does.
At the hotel, Victor leaned against the headboard of the bed groggily and furiously barked at Sean, who stood at
the side of the bed, “What are you doing? Couldn't you see that I was in dreamland? Why were you shouting
about?”
The corners of Sean's mouth twitched violently.
Indeed, you were in dreamland. But then, it's time for you to wake up, for our dream of getting rich has been
shattered.
“It's bad, Mr. Victor. Something huge has happened,” he said.
Victor rolled his eyes at him. “Your father is dead?”
Sean shook his head before handing the phone in his hand to the man. “The truth... The truth about the matter
back then has come to light. We can't use that to blackmail Mr. Gezmond anymore.”
Stunned, Victor blankly took the phone from him and brought it close for a look.
What the heck?
He abruptly leaped out of bed and roared, “Who leaked this? Who the f*ck had nothing better to do and brought
this secret to light?”
I'd been hoping to use this matter to keep Lionel on a short leash and turn him into my cash cow, but now,
everything is gone before I've even gotten a cent!
“I-I don't know either. By the time I saw the news, it was already all over the internet, and I couldn't put a lid on it
anymore,” Sean replied.
In a flash, Victor's pupils constricted. “All that aside, is Victoria aware of it? She's staying home because of her
pregnancy, so she probably can't see the news, right? Lionel has likely seen it by now and will undoubtedly do
everything in his power to cover it up. As such, she must still be in the dark now, yes?”
A troubled look crossed Sean's face, and he timidly ventured, “The bodyguard who kept watch outside the
Gezmond residence called earlier, saying that Bailey rushed over in a mad frenzy. M-Ms. Victoria had probably
learned the truth and endangered the baby by getting too emotional, so Mr. Gezmond called Bailey over to help
stabilize her condition.”
Thud!
The phone slipped from Victor's palm and fell onto the icy floor.
So, my dream of getting rich has really been shattered?
Fury prompted Victor to swing his foot back and give Sean a swift kick. “Why are you still standing around? Quick,
go and keep watch at the Gezmond residence. Figure out a way to get wind of the situation there. If I lose those
shares, I'll sell you to a nightclub to be a gigolo,” he hissed through gritted teeth.
That rendered Sean speechless.
Outside the Gezmond residence, Bailey was bent at the waist, examining the few dead bodies strewn all over the
ground.
When she had studied them for a while, the crease of her brows deepened even more.
Beside her, Zeke asked, “Well? Did you discover any leads?”
In response, Bailey shook her head and sighed. “Indeed, they're highly-trained suicide attackers. That aside, they all
came from the same training base. I'm guessing Tarragon. But probably only the executives from the headquarters
can have so many suicide attackers in the whole of Tarragon.”
Zeke went briefly silent before he tentatively queried, “Suicide attackers like them usually have distinct
assignments. Is it possible to find out who exactly they were assigned to?”
After mulling the matter over, Bailey explained, “That would be under the purview of the person in charge of the
training base. He knows the assignment of the trained special agents the best. But as you know, internal personnel
job assignment is a top-secret affair to organizations like ours. Only the leader has the authority to check the
records. We have no idea about Artemis' situation right now, so...”
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmZeke nodded his head in understanding. “The culprit probably won't make a move again for the time being after
suffering such a crushing loss in one go. With Raiden's troops protecting you, no one will dare to act rashly.”
Just as Bailey was about to speak, the phone in her pocket suddenly rang at that precise moment.
She took it out for a look, only to see that it was a call from the person in charge of the organization's intelligence
department.
“What is it?” she asked.
“Ms. Jefferson, there's news from Tarragon's headquarters, saying that Tarragon's leader had already left the
headquarters, heading straight to Hallsbay in a private jet. We're worried about your safety. Shall we dispatch a
group of top-notch agents to protect you?”
At that piece of news, Bailey quirked a brow.
Artemis is doubling back to Hallsbay? What is he trying to do? Does he find me too slow in ferreting out the culprit
behind things and thus plans to make a move personally? Hehe, that'd be even better. I'm too lazy to bother, so
having him deal with everything would be perfect! Anyway, I don't believe that he has forgotten about me. I'm
more than familiar with things such as the memory loss pill. If one has really engraved another person in one's
blood and soul, it'd be useless even if one took a memory loss pill.
“No, it's okay. I've got people protecting me. Keep a close eye on our territory, and don't let anyone take advantage
of the situation. I'm currently unable to get away, and I'm worried that those coveting our territory will seize the
opportunity to make a move,” she replied.
“Understood.”
After hanging up the phone, Bailey grinned at Zeke and declared happily, “I don't need to tire myself out so much
anymore. My husband is coming back very soon. Hehe!”
Words eluded Zeke.
At the side, Raiden snorted and muttered, “What a heartless woman! I'd been bustling around since morning, but
you didn't even thank—”
Before he had finished speaking, the phone in Bailey's hand rang again.
The caller ID indicated that it was the Revelle residence's landline.
The only reason the Revelle family would phone me is likely that... Veronique's condition has worsened.
