Chapter 697 Are You Afraid Of Artemis
Something told her that Sofie would grab the chance to escape.
Bailey guessed that Sofie had deliberately exposed her hiding spot. When everyone's attention was focused on that
farmhouse, she could use the opportunity to flee the country.
“Raiden, you must personally keep an eye on the entry and exit points in this city. I think Sofie is planning to
smuggle out of the country tonight.”
Raiden's pants sounded on the other end of the line.
A while later, his tensed voice rang out. “Bailey, I'm sorry. I had to return to Dellmoor as my father's condition
worsened. I had to take charge of the situation. It was urgent, so I didn't have time to inform you before I left. But
I've stationed my men at the entry and exit points, and they'll do their best to monitor the situation. Don't worry
about that.”
Bailey tightened her grip on her phone as she could now confirm her guess.
Sofie received news that Raiden had left Hallsbay, so she knew her chance had arrived. She deliberately exposed
her whereabouts to make Artemis and Zeke head to the farmhouse.
After that, she would smuggle her way out of Hallsbay without arousing suspicion.
“Okay, please call your subordinates and remind them to be vigilant. I have a strong suspicion that Sofie will make
her escape tonight. We can't let her escape, as the consequences will be dire.”
Raiden hummed in acknowledgment and ended the call.
After that, Bailey grabbed her clothes and put them on hastily.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtSeeing that, Victoria was confused. She frowned and asked, “Bay, where are you heading late at night?”
After putting on her clothes, Bailey replied, “I'm going to see someone. Don't make a fuss. If someone shows up, it
will be hard for me to leave.”
Right after she spoke, her phone rang again. It was Raiden.
“Bailey, I need you to pay attention. The person who was in charge of the harbor in the western part of the city is
no longer responding to our communication attempts. It is likely that he has been either killed or bribed, but I
believe the former is more probable. If he had been bribed, he would have released Sofie without alerting us
instead of ignoring my calls and alerting me of his intention.”
Bailey nodded. “Got it. The harbor is in the western part of the city, right? Okay, that's the breach. I'll go stop her
right now. You don't have to hurry back to Hallsbay. Stay in Dellmoor and keep your dad company.”
Raiden reminded her sternly, “Bailey, protect yourself. Remember not to put your life at risk.”
“Mm.”
After the call ended, Bailey scrolled to Artemis' number and called him.
Before the call could connect, she quickly hung up.
They went to the eastern suburbs, which is the opposite direction of the west. It's faster for me to head there and
solve the problem. Besides, this is just my guess. What if my guess is wrong, and Sofie and the others are still at the
farmhouse? In that case, withdrawing from the area abruptly could result in a missed opportunity to capture them.
Forget it. I won't tell them. I'll head to the harbor for now.
As she hurried away, Victoria called out, “You should bring a few men with you. If something happens, they can be
of help.”
“Got it. Don't tell anyone that I left. Otherwise, the rest would get reprimanded.”
Bailey didn't ask anyone to accompany her to the western suburbs. She had no one to ask for help.
Everyone sustained injuries after the fight. She felt that it was unfair to ask them to endanger themselves further,
given that they were already hurt.
However, she bumped into Simon at the parking lot.
“Bailey, where are you heading this late? By the way, where is Artemis? Why isn't he with you? Are you heading out
alone?” he asked.
Bailey beamed and beckoned him over.
Seeing that, Simon grew wary.
Bailey was too fierce, and he naturally grew wary after suffering at her hands multiple times.
As he approached her, he heard a whooshing sound pass by his ear.
Without hesitation, he dodged out of harm's way and barely made it.
“Bailey, what was that? Were you planning on knocking me out before sneaking out? Does that mean Artemis
doesn't know you left your ward?” he demanded.
Bailey glanced at her hand and flashed a bitter smile.
After getting severely wounded, she was too weak and couldn't even knock Simon out.
“I just wanted to test your agility. You've improved, huh? You should head up now. Caridee is in a foul mood and
needs you to console her.”
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmSimon let out an icy snort. “Do you think I'm a fool, Bailey? You are obviously feeling guilty. If I allow you to leave
today, Artemis will kill me if anything happens to you! You won't get to leave if you refuse to be honest with me. And
if you try to knock me out, I'll have no choice but to call Artemis,” he warned.
He reached into his pocket to fish out his phone instinctively.
Bailey put her arm out to stop him. “Don't bother with that. He's not at the medical base. He's currently in the
eastern suburbs. I have to go because something urgent came up. If you're worried, you can come with me. I
happen to need a driver. Don't bother your brother, as he's probably occupied.”
Simon pondered over her suggestion and nodded in agreement. “Okay. I'll let you leave if you agree to let me tag
along. If you refuse, you won't get to leave the underground parking lot today.”
On the way to their destination, Bailey explained the situation to Simon briefly.
Hearing that, Simon couldn't keep his cool. He held the steering wheel with one hand and reached for his phone
with his other hand.
Bailey swiftly took his phone from him. “Concentrate on driving, or we might end up in an accident.”
Simon rolled his eyes and complained, “Bailey, has anyone ever told you that you're good at asking for trouble?”
Bailey smiled reassuringly. “I'll be all right. Raiden has already dispatched his men to the harbor in the western
suburbs. By the time I get there, they would have already surrounded the place.”
Artemis received the news faster than Bailey expected, as his call arrived before she could reach the harbor.
She couldn't help but flinch at the sight of his name flickering on her phone screen.
Simon teased, “You're afraid, huh? Artemis is indeed scary when he gets mad.”
Bailey answered the call and threw her phone onto Simon's lap.
“Y-Your brother offered to give me a ride. If he didn't drive, I wouldn't get to come out. You should yell at him,” she
quickly said.
Both Simon and Artemis let out an exasperated laugh.
“Protect her, Simon. Nothing can happen to her.”
