Bailey simply rolled her eyes at him.

The surface of the sea is filled with frozen ice in this weather. Does he really think I'm made of steel? Even if we set

The man shook his head as he replied, “They destroyed the surveillance cameras before they left. If you really want

to know, you'll have to fix the system first.”

Bailey began walking toward the stairs. “Bring me to the surveillance room. I need to be certain if Sofie took Old Mr.

Shurmer with her.”

It would be big trouble if she did. Not only would our previous agreement be annulled, but she would also use that

old fogey to blackmail us into accepting her demands. By then, she would have to power to manipulate us at will.

Half an hour later, Artemis and Zeke finally arrived.

The sight of Bailey watching the surveillance feeds unharmed brought a sense of relief to both of them.

Thank God she's fine. Otherwise, we would have to be tormented again.

When she saw both men panting at the door, Bailey broke into an indiscernible smile. “How does it feel to be

tricked? This is the price you have to pay.”

Artemis walked up to her and asked, “What are you looking at? Are you trying to find out who's helping Sofie behind

the scenes?”

Bailey shook her head. “The enemy is extremely careful and won't leave any tracks. There's no way I can tell just

by looking at the surveillance feeds. Instead, I'm worried that Sofie would take the old fogey with her. That's why

I'm trying to find him from the recordings.”

Jolted to attention by her words, Zeke strode to her side as he asked, “Did you manage to find him? We would be in

big trouble if she did kidnap the old man.”

Bailey pushed the laptop forward before leaning back into the chair. With her fingers massaging her forehead, she

answered, “There's no sign of him anywhere, including during the boarding process. All I saw was Sofie and Zoey

escaping.”

Just as Zeke was about to comment, Artemis' phone suddenly rang.

After he answered the call, Artemis' expression darkened when he heard the report from the other end of the line.

“Are you sure he's at Inferno Hall?”

After exchanging a few more words, Artemis ended the call with a tense look on his face.

It was then that Bailey sprang to her feet.

Given how well she knew Artemis, she could tell from his reaction that something terrible had occurred.

And now, their biggest concern was Steven's safety.

“Do you know where that old man is?”

Artemis nodded. “He's at Inferno Hall. Based on my spy's report, Sofie is in cahoots with its leader.”

Inferno Hall?

She had heard of the name before. It belonged to a powerful organization that was based in Hallsbay. Therefore,

the fact that Sofie was working with them didn't come as a surprise.

“Is the information reliable? You had better not be tricked again. If Inferno Hall turns out to be Sofie's partner-in-

crime, the old man would likely be at their headquarters.”

Lowering his gaze to look at her, Artemis remarked, “Inferno Hall's headquarters is located near the harbor in the

western suburbs. That's how they seemingly managed to eliminate our men who were in hiding, but let's not jump

to conclusions yet.”

“In that case, let's head over to Inferno Hall to take a look,” Zeke suggested as he walked out the door.

At the same time, Bailey grabbed Artemis' hand and pulled him along. “Let's go with him.”

Brows furrowed, Artemis caught her icy fingers instead. “There's barely any warmth in your body. You had better go

back to the medical base with Simon.”

“No way.” Bailey quickly hugged him with the other hand. “I'm worried that both of you idiots end up being fooled

again. It would be more prudent for me to come with you.”

Before Artemis could respond, Bailey stood on her toes and planted a kiss on his lips.

“Take me with you, or I'll give you hell.”

Left without a choice, Artemis wavered. “Fine, but don't leave my side at all times. Can you do that?”

“Sure. Didn't I keep my promise not to act when I arrived at the harbor? What's there to worry about when I'm on

my best behavior?”

Artemis couldn't help but chuckle. “Would you still be here if the ships weren't grounded by the harbor's wrecked

navigation system? In fact, I feel like thanking Sofie for cutting off your options. Otherwise, you'll end up giving us a

heart attack with your reckless pursuit.”

Bailey was rendered speechless.

This scenario isn't realistic at all, all right?

Meanwhile, a massacre raged through Inferno Hall, resulting in its destruction overnight.

With blood strewn all over the snow-covered ground, the stench of blood filled the air within a kilometer's radius.

In the woods some distance away, Philip—standing in the darkness of the night—asked in a solemn tone, “Is

with Inferno Hall. Artemis and Bailey will consequently be lured over there and won't suspect your involvement.

Now that Inferno Hall has been annihilated, there'll be no witnesses to expose us. Bailey and the others will be

convinced that you have saved Old Mr. Shurmer once our men emerge from Inferno Hall with him.”

“Good. Once they're here, we'll put on a good show for them.”

“Understood.”

Twenty minutes later, Artemis and Bailey arrived at Inferno Hall with their men.

The devastation that greeted their eyes triggered a drastic change in their expressions.

Zeke remarked with a frown, “I don't suppose Sofie wiped out Inferno Hall before her departure to leave no

witnesses?”

Kneeling down, Bailey placed her hand on the wrist of a corpse at her feet.

“This man just died less than ten minutes ago, so it can't be Sofie, for it has been almost an hour since she left

Hallsbay.”

Artemis quickly pulled her back up and into his arms as he warned, “Don't touch them indiscriminately. It's bad luck

to do so.”

Rolling her eyes at him, Bailey asked, “What do you think?”

Just as Artemis was about to speak, a convoy of vehicles approached and came to a stop in front of them.

One of the car doors opened, and out came Philip, who seemed stunned by the sight of the group.
