Chapter 963 Settle The Score
Wilfred examined the medicine bottle in his hand, emitting a slight cough.
“I'm curious, Mr. Luther,” Wilfred began, “for a capable man like you, dealing with that dreadful woman in my
family would be as simple as lifting a finger. I don't understand why you chose such a roundabout strategy,
painstakingly saving me, only to use me as a tool to eliminate her.”
Artemis leaned casually against the screen, his arms folded across his chest, radiating an air of nonchalance.
“It's quite simple. This is Gregan. If I make a direct move, it will inevitably raise suspicions among various powers.
They might believe I have ambitions to invade their territories. As for me, I have no further ambitions in my
remaining years. All I desire is to spend my life peacefully with my wife and children, without them being constantly
watched and worried about by the outside world.”
He continued, “Old Mr. White, you're a Gregan noble. With the current turmoil in the land, and your involvement, it
is only fitting for you to step forward to quell the chaos. Moreover, having been in charge of the White family for
several years, you should know better than anyone how to reclaim power from your wife's grasp. All right, now that
the antidote has been delivered, I won't waste words. I have only one request: once you regain control, cleanse the
household thoroughly. Don't let Kurt continue to harm others.”
At the mention of Kurt, a shadow of darkness passed through Wilfred's eyes. “You don't need to tell me that; I can
deal with that treacherous scoundrel myself.”
Artemis was about to respond when suddenly, a faint noise emanated from outside. He swiftly turned around and
shouted to the unseen eavesdropper, “Who's there? Come out.”
A flurry of footsteps echoed but eventually faded away, and a cold, calculated look replaced the warmth in Artemis'
eyes.
Someone had been listening in, and he couldn't allow them to escape. If they did, today's plans with Wilfred might
be exposed.
With that determination, he darted outside.
Moments later, he returned, dragging a young girl with him and carelessly throwing her onto the floor.

Wilfred lowered his gaze, his brows furrowing as he recognized the young girl. “Cersei, what are you doing here?
Did you overhear my conversation with Mr. Luther just now?”
Cersei White was Wilfred's daughter from his mistress. During his house arrest, she had often sneaked over to see
him. Despite his resentment toward the wicked woman, he held a deep affection for his daughter.
“I-I overheard it, but I didn't mean to eavesdrop, Daddy,” stammered Cersei. “Are you really going to fight with
Mommy until the end?”
No sooner had her words fallen than a dagger was pressed against her throat.
Cersei shivered intensely, her gaze slowly moving upward to Artemis' handsome face, a glimmer of astonishment
flickering in her eyes.
He was such a mature and charming man, both aloof and resolute.
“I-I...”
A glint of murderous intent flashed in Artemis' eyes. Unconsciously, his grip tightened, and his hand moved
dangerously close to her throat.
Cersei let out a sharp scream, prompting Wilfred to rush over.
“Mr. Luther, please show mercy. My daughter means no harm. It's enough to confine her and restrict her freedom. I
beg you to spare her life.”
Artemis furrowed his brows, his voice deep as he asked, “Can you guarantee that our plan won't be leaked?”
“Rest assured, Mr. Luther. From now on, I will confine her within the White residence. She won't have any contact
with the outside world.”
With a swift chop of his hand, Artemis rendered Cersei unconscious.
“All right, I'll trust you this time, Old Mr. White. Remember our agreement. I can restore you to your former glory,
but I can also leave you clinging to life by a thread.”
“Yes, yes, Mr. Luther, rest assured. I will take control of that venomous woman at home as soon as possible, and
then catch that rebellious Kurt off guard.”
Artemis nodded slightly, issued a few more instructions, and then turned to leave.
After watching Artemis disappear, Wilfred took the antidote from the bottle and swallowed it.
The middle-aged bodyguard, who had been silently standing behind him, spoke up. “Old Mr. White, what should we
do next?”
Wilfred snorted coldly, saying, “That venomous woman truly believes she's in control of the White family. If I hadn't
been poisoned, if she hadn't held me by the throat, would I have allowed her to be so arrogant and reckless? Now
that the poison within me has been neutralized, it's time to settle the score with that venomous woman. I will gather
all my former subordinates hidden within the family and have them strike back tonight. We will seize control of all
her forces in one fell swoop.”
“Understood.”
It was destined to be a sleepless night that night.
Whether it was Wilfred or Broderick, they both launched a full-scale counterattack to regain the power they were
unwilling to let go of.
Early in the morning, as dawn broke, the door to the manor's laboratory slowly swung open, revealing Bailey, who
had spent a sleepless night inside, walking out with a fatigued expression.
Simon had also spent the entire night sitting on a chair, looking haggard and disheveled. Seeing Bailey emerge, he
quickly approached, urgently asking, “How did it go? Have you figured out a method to dispel the parasitic worm?”
Bailey shook her head and sighed. “Perfumery is a weak spot for both Cameron and me. Even if we manage to
concoct a feasible antidote, we wouldn't dare to administer it to Luna.”
“Let's wait a bit longer. We need to rescue Catherine as soon as possible. She will be the one to make the final
decision. Only if she says it's okay, then it's okay,” she suggested.
Simon slumped back into his seat once again.
At this moment, Artemis walked over from the staircase. Squinting at Bailey, he asked, “Did you pull another all-
nighter?”
Bailey glanced at him, retorting sarcastically, “You've also pulled an all-nighter; what right do you have to question

Artemis gave a smile, yet his brows were clouded with concern. All he wanted was for her to rest well, take care of
her health, eat on time, and sleep regularly. Why was this wish so hard to fulfill?
He walked up to her, disregarding her struggles, and swept her off her feet, cradling her in his arms.
“What are you doing? Put me down; I'm not finished talking to Simon yet.”
“Go back to sleep; we can talk after you've rested. The sky won't fall in a moment's notice, and even if it does, I'll be
here to hold it up for you.”
Bailey gave up resisting. Once this man asserted his dominance, no one could stop him.
With that, she reassured Simon, “Simon, don't worry too much; Luna is fine for now. Let's patiently wait for
Catherine to return.”
“All right.”
For two consecutive days, the weather in Gregan was terribly gloomy. The city, shrouded in thick clouds, seemed to
be bracing for an unprecedented storm.
All the different factions maintained a cautious silence, with none of them willing to take risks by openly engaging.
Or perhaps, they were all secretly conducting their ow internal purges without bringing it into the light.
At the Rogers residence, inside the main house's study, Joseph, who hadn't slept for days, had eyes bloodshot from
exhaustion.
He stood by the window, hands behind his back, and asked, “Has there been no action taken against Catherine by
the first branch these past few days?”
The butler nodded and said, “No, everything's been calm. Since you've been ill and shut yourself in, the regular
meetings over the past few days have not been held.”
Joseph slightly furrowed his brows, a hint of unease crossing his mind. “It's too quiet, so quiet it's suffocating. Given
Broderick's nature, he wouldn't miss such a good opportunity to deal with Catherine. His current unusual behavior is
indeed strange.”
“Then what should we do, Mr. Joseph?”
After some thought, Joseph spoke in a cold voice. “Retrieve the family head seal and lift the house arrest on
Catherine. Let's see if the first branch will make a move against her now.”
