Chapter 194

The car pulled up at her apartment.

Dwight made a fuss about wanting to go upstairs, claiming he was too exhausted and needed to crash there.

Eloise, of course, wouldn't allow it.

She calmly stated, "If you're not willing to sleep at my mom's place, then sleep on the streets."

Dwight gritted his teeth in frustration and brought up another matter, "I should get a piece of that 20 million,

right? Don't tellyou're planning to keep it all to yourself."

Eloise pondered a bit before replying, "Mr. Arellano gavethe 20 million to askto control you."

So she wasn't going to give him a cent of the money.

Dwight snorted and hopped out of the car, glaring at Eloise, "Wow, | cannot believe it."

Eloise ignored him and slowly ascended the stairs.

Dwight wanted to continue ranting, but when he saw her straight back, he suddenly found himself lost for words.

She looked heartbroken.

Ha!

He had said it before that she still had feelings for Horigan. They clearly liked each other, but were pretending to

be indifferent. If it were him, he would just take her to bed and ravish her repeatedly throughout the night.

What problems couldn't be resolved?

Dwight jumped back into the car, initially planning to enjoy a night out, but tonight

all he could think about was Eloise's heartbroken expression.

Damn it!

What a mood killer!

He couldn't even muster up the energy.

When Eloise returned to her apartment, Milo immediately cup to her.

The pup hadn't seen Eloise all day and was being particularly clingy.

Eloise took him for a walk downstairs, and after about half an hour, she chose a bench to sit down and dialed

Veronica's number. She couldn't shake off the unease she was feeling.

Veronica took quite a while to answer, and her voice was hoarse, as if she had been crying.

Eloise softly suggested, "Do you wantto stay with you for a few days?"

Veronica shook her head, "I'm fine. Don't worry about me. You finally got something done, so don't stress over

my issue. You should focus on your work. I've invested sof my own money in it too."

Eloise didn't push the topic.

She added, "Letknow if you need any financial help."

Although Riley was wealthy, his relationship with Veronica was complicated. Eloise didn't want Veronica to feel

obliged to ask Riley for help. Veronica wanted to cry at Eloise's kindness but tried to appear nonchalant, "I'm

really okay. | promise I'll let you know if | need anything."

She quickly ended the call.

In their small apartment, Riley was standing across from her.

His face was tense, his emotions teetering on the edge of rage. He furiously questioned Veronica, "This is my kid

too, right? What gives you the right to decide to abort it on your own? Don't | love you enough? | even took you

to Callum's fucking wedding. What's gotten into your head that you want to get rid of my child? Are you planning

to get back together with Gunner and be with him happily ever after?"

Tears streamed down Veronica's face.

She sobbed, "How could | possibly get back together with him?"

Riley kicked over a chair.

He stared at her, "You're just worried about my reputation, aren't you, Veronica? | don't give a damn about my

reputation if | can be with you. The one who's wrong is that bastard Gunner! What's wrong with us being

mutually attracted? If he hadn't changed his mind, we could've gotten our marriage license by now. Your

hesitation is because you're afraid | can't marry you, isn't it? Well, lettell you, I, Riley, am only going to

marry you in this lifetime."

He added fiercely, "I can't promise what will happen if you try to abort the baby. And do not ever try to leave my

side for the rest of your life."

Veronica cried even harder.

Riley wanted to say more, but his eyes reddened, and he gently pulled her into his arms instead.

"Stop crying, I've got your back no matter what.

We definitely have to keep the baby. | worked hard night after night for it. We can't just give up."

Veronica was a crying mess.

A week later.

Dwight walked into Eloise's office with his long legs.

Eloise threw a pile of documents at him, "Take a look at this."

Dwight flipped it open, but his interest was lacking.

He was lucky enough to be born into privilege, and he was only interested in women and cars in this lifetime. He

had no interest whatsoever in the business world. If it wasn't to annoy Horigan, he would've left long ago.

Eloise was indifferent to his attitude.

She casually stated, "Our Crescendo Sound Workshop's customer base is high- end. I'm planning to set aside a

special area to establish a car exhibition. You'll be responsible for this project. Of course, we're not well-known,

so they might not be willing to cooperate with us."

Dwight tossed the file aside.

Chewing his gum, he scoffed, "First you hadselling coffee, and now you wantto sell cars. Are you

planning to havesell my body next?"

Eloise replied coolly, "With your temperament, can you even serve people properly?"

Dwight jumped up, ready to prove his ability to serve right then and there. Eloise ignored him.

Dwight grumbled, "You're really no fun. It's been a week and you're still hung up on Horigan? Lettell you, if

you've tasted a young stud like me, you'd forget him in an instant. What's so great about an old man? You don't

even know if he's still up for it."

Eloise responded coldly, "Finish reading the documents. I'm taking you to a social event tomorrow. You know how

to play golf, right?"

Dwight swung his long legs.

Eloise threw him a sentence, "If not, start learning right now."

Dwight slouched, "Golf is for old people. I'm still young."

The next day, Eloise took Dwight to the golf course.

Their counterpart was Marc, the national general agent for BMW.

Marc was a middle-aged man who had no other hobbies but golf and drinking.

Eloise and Dwight accompanied him for a round of golf. Marc appreciated her, but he was skeptical about the

project. After all, he recognized the man at Eloise's side - the precious son of Mr. Stuart.

And also not very reliable.

Marc swung his club, chuckling, "Ms. Laurent, you play pretty well. You must have had sexpert guidance,

right?"

Eloise was taken aback.

Her golf skills had been taught by Harvey, who was excellent at the sport, and she was a quick learner.

Now that Marc mentioned it, Eloise smiled slightly, "Yes, but the tuition was quite expensive."

Marc was a smart man and didn't probe further.

Although their interaction was pleasant, Eloise could tell that Marc wasn't very interested in the project. She

thought there might still be opportunities for cooperation in the future

, so she made a dinner reservation for the evening at a business club.

Marc, once on the drinking table, inevitably bectalkative and loved toasting.

After drinking a small bottle of red wine, Eloise felt uncomfortable and went to the restroom to wash her face.

Dwight was standing right behind her.

He said, somewhat impatiently, "It's clear that Marc isn't interested. Why are you still trying to charm him? And

besides, is it really worth getting this drunk for a bit of spare change? You're not behaving like a lady should. A

lady should be at home, enjoying a life of luxury, sipping on coffee and attending concerts." Eloise wiped her

face, "Not everyone has your good fortune. By the way, why are you here, shouldn't you be with Marc?"

"With him? He's not interested, so why bother."

Dwight added, "You should be with me. With me, you wouldn't have to suffer like this."

Eloise shot him a glare and walked off.

Dwight followed after her, cursing, "Damn! You're really ungrateful."
