Chapter 56 Eloise walked behind Harvey, both of them headed back to the apartment.

She pondered a bit and decided to ask him, "Did you make a move on Velona Corporation?" Harvey paused, casually retorting, "Are you trying to stick up for Max?" "No." Eloise awkwardly fiddled with the two bottles of wine in her hands.

Harvey watched her for a moment before lounging on the sofa, flicking on the finance news. After a while, noticing Eloise still standing there, he casually said, "Aren't you gonna cook?" Eloise nodded.

As she changed into her casual clothes, she couldn't help but wonder, did Harvey even need to eat? Her main duties now seemed to be cooking, cleaning, running errands for him she felt like a live-in maid.

Who would've thought? Harvey was surprisingly set in his ways.

While Eloise cooked, Harvey busied himself with phone calls. Just as he hung up and was about to hit the shower, Eloise's phone on the coffee table lit up.

Harvey glanced towards the kitchen, then nonchalantly picked up Eloise's phone.

Knowing her password, he easily unlocked it and saw two Facebook messages from Max.

[So, speople's affection is worthless, huh? It changes over night!] Harvey scoffed, "Such a fool." With a poker face, he replied: [If it's worthless, then chuck it in the trash!] After replying, he promptly deleted the messages, and even blocked Max.

Eloise prepared four dishes and a soup, visually pleasing and tasty. Among them was a Mexican chili prawn stir fry, her signature dish that everyone who'd tried it said was delicious.

After the meal was prepared, she called Harvey to eat, but he was still engrossed in the finance news. After she called him a couple of times, he lethargically got up, his face not exactly friendly.

Eloise guessed his mood was bad and didn't dare to provoke him.

After a few bites, Harvey abruptly said, "None of these dishes are what I like." Eloise was taken aback.

She blurted, "Marianna toldyour preferences, so I thought you would like them." Harvey stared at her, "Why didn't you just askwhat I like?" Eloise was speechless.

She had thought her main duty living with him was to please him, but she didn't expect him to be picky about her cooking. It made her wonder if he had sphysical issues he was too embarrassed to admit, so he picked on her in other ways? Eloise felt a pang of sympathy for him.

The haughty and elegant Attorney Horigan, turns out he's not perfect! Eloise tried to be accommodating, "I'll pay more attention next time." Harvey humphed, continued to find faults, barely eating any of it. "You used to cook for Max, right? Are these dishes his favorites?" Eloise finally realized he was upset because she used to be with Max.

But these were clearly dishes he liked! Eloise's eyes turned a bit red.

But she knew her place, and didn't dare to offend him, only managing to say in a plaintive tone, can'tchange my past with him, but to me, it's all in the past. I won't think about him anymore. We have to live together for a while, if you're gonna be like this every day..." She couldn't finish, feeling wronged.

Harvey didn't say anything more, just sat on the sofa and lit a cigarette.

Eloise started to clean up the table. She packed the leftover food into a bag and put on her slippers to go downstairs.

"Where are you going?" Harvey thought she was going to throw the food in the trash.

Eloise's voice was a bit nasal, "I'm going to feed the dogs! There's m bound to be sstray dogs who'll appreciate my cooking." Harvey was taken aback, then he couldn't help chuckling.

She was subtly mocking him!

However, right now, Attorney Horigan wasn't angry at all. On the contrary, he found this version of Eloise somewhat adorable.
