Chapter 674 - Demon Princess
"I thought I would let you guys live till our next encounter." Max smiled as he clenched his fist. He obviously was bluffing. He wasn't in a condition to kill anyone, but he sure could escape with ease. He had that much confidence at least.
"Back down.." The Princess's voice rang in the room.
"Tsk.." Bayu clicked his tongue with a frown on his, and then reluctantly got out of Max's path.
"A nice decision.." Max smiled, and he took a step forward when the Princess spoke again, "Shall we continue the discussion then?"
Max paused in his track, and then turned his head to look at the girl who had taken her hood down.
She was indeed a beauty, and a familiar one at that too.
"You don't look surprised?" She asked with a calm face.
"Should I be?" Max returned to his seat as he looked at her, "What should I call you now? Beli? Or Princess?"
"Let me formally introduce myself, I am the Princess of Leyak Tribe, Belial Leyak."
"You can call me, Beli. That's the name for my friends," She replied with a smile.
"Friends? I sure doubt that." Max shook his head.
He was always suspicious of her identity. But, to think she was a major figure from the Demon World. He really was surprised, it was just that he was good at hiding.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt'This people sure have the guts to infiltrate our society and live so close to us.' Max muttered inwardly.
"How did you find out? Or should I ask when did you start suspecting me?" She asked, looking at Max.
"Don't you think your way of getting close to us was flawed in itself. It honestly would make anyone suspicious. Not to mention, the competitions were so close back then making anyone suspect you as a spy," Max replied casually.
"I thought that I had hid everything well. Even your beast could only spend the whole day in my shadow without finding anything. I think that should have been enough to clear those doubts." Beli didn't think she had given herself out at all.
Max's expression changed when he heard that. 'To think she had realized Twice trailing her. It seems I have underestimated her.'
"Well, you certainly hid it well. But, the fact that you avoided contact was suspicious. So, when I touched you. I instantly knew something was wrong with you."
Beli frowned, "I don't think I allowed you touch me anytime-"
Her words suddenly came to a halt when she realized that during the first event at Orca, she had been charmed by Max's eyes and ended up….
Max forced a smile on his face. It wasn't his fault. It was just that his power had been out of control then.
When he had touched her back then, he felt a very distinct energy from her. It was somehow Demonic but at the same time not. Max still couldn't get what was going on. But, one thing was for sure, he felt some familiarity with that energy.
"What's wrong?" Naze asked with an odd look on his face as he saw both of them going quiet. Follow current ɴᴏᴠᴇʟs on novelenglish.net . Fɪre.net
"Nothing," Beli calmly replied.
"Can we get to the topic?" Max tried to change the topic as well.
"There are currently two factions among the Demons. One that belongs to the Current King's followers and the other which belonged to the previous King."
"Is the Current King, Vaccaria?" Max asked as he looked at her.
"Yes.." The Princess nodded.
"And, the Previous king…Leyak?" Max further asked with a little pause.
His words immediately widened everyone's eyes here. The story of Leyak was almost non-existent to be honest. Even a majority of the Current Demon society seemed to have forgotten about this old king. Yet, there was a human who knew about it.
Wasn't this ridiculous?
"How did you know?" Beli asked him with scrunched brows.
"Why? Can't I?"
"Even the Ancient Families don't seem to have knowledge about it. I don't know how you managed to find it." She gave him an odd look.
"Well, let me guess then what's going on here." Max smiled. This was his chance to establish his superior position by using the knowledge he had received from Andriel, "Leyak, the Previous king had ended the war with his death. But, the new king who took after him refused to follow the will and the war had been continuing due to him. Am I right?"
The people couldn't help but stare at Max with a surprised look on their faces.
"True," Beli nodded. "The Current Demon Society has several Pillars supporting its foundation."
"They are the Three Royal Tribes and the 9 Vassal Clans."
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmMax's interest definitely got piqued. This was the first time he was hearing about the structure of Demon Society. Even the Ancient Families didn't have much knowledge on how these guys lived.
"Each Royal Tribe has three Vassal Clans attached to it."
"Out of the three Royal Tribe. My Leyak Tribe is the only one to carry the Royal Blood of the Previous King while the other two belong to the Current King."
"Doesn't that mean you are in control of one-third of the forces?" Max asked in surprised. That was really some significant amount if you ask him.
"..."
"What's wrong?" Max's expression immediately changed when she didn't reply to her. It seemed that her situation wasn't as good as he thought it was.
"I have control over the Leyak Tribe, but the three Vassal Clan have been divided. over the course of year, some members of the Vassal Clan had turned over to the other Royal Tribe."
"So, I don't have full control over the Vassal Clans."
Max's expectations sure came crashing down on him.
"Are you joking with me?" Max looked at her with a frown.
"I am not.." She shook her head, "I just need a bit of support, I am sure I can regain control over them."
"I don't think it's worth the risk.." Max shook his head. She was telling him to send her help. Basically, human experts to help her. This was asking for death. No way that would ever happen.
He slowly got up and as he was about to walk out, a familiar sensation washed over him, and his eyes immediately widened.
"Is it worth it now?" Beli's voice entered his ears.
