Chapter 145

Kayla had no words. Yes, such love, such a marriage would she even want it?

A family that could never appreciate her, a husband who was good to everyone but couldn't show the same

patience to her.

And-She looked at Grayson. All those years, under Marissa's hints and influence, she and her mom often spoke ill

of Paisley to Grayson. This led Grayson to misunderstand and even resent his own biological mother, saying that

he didn't want Paisley to be his mother.

Kayla hadn't thought much about this before, but now, when she put herself in Paisley's shoes, it was

suffocating. And Paisley had lived this life for four whole years.

Kayla couldn't say anything else. She sat weakly on the sofa. Marissa was certainly evil, but had they not been

despicable too?

So, from Paisley's perspective, she must have hated the Vanderbilt family to the core. How could she ever want

to return to such a suffocating family?

The funny thing was, she had once bragged in front of Paisley, saying that she would only accept Marissa as a

sister-in-law and told her not to dream.

Now, thinking about it, they were the delusional ones. But now, what use was regret? Paisley was already

Marissa watched the Vanderbilt family's reactions, her heart full of hatred, nothing else.

"I worked so hard to maintain my image, to please each of you. | was so close to success, just one step away.

Just one step!" She screamed hysterically, her pent-up frustration peaking at this moment.

"If I'm not happy, none of you from the Vanderbilt family will be happy! Paisley is dead! You can regret all you

want!"

Beep! Beep beep! The continuous honking of car horns cfrom outside the gate.

"What's going on outside?" Reginald asked with a serious expression.

The butler dared not delay and hurried to check. Upon seeing the visitor, his expression immediately changed,

and he looked at everyone with a mix of surprise and joy.

"It's the young madam!"

Paisley was still alive!

"Quick, let her in!" Reginald shouted urgently.

"Hey! Hey!" As soon as the butler saw that it was Paisley outside, he had already opened the gate for her.

"Paisley," Dominick murmured her nsoftly, stumbling as he ran out.

He had to see her he needed to see with his own eyes that she was still alive!

"Dom!" Julian called from behind, chasing after him.

"Paisley is still alive?" Marissa froze, her expression contorting into a vicious snarl. "Impossible! How could she

still be alive? Why is she still alive?"

From the video, it was clear that she should have been dead by now. How could she still be alive? Marissa didn't

believe it, or perhaps, she didn't want to believe it.

If Paisley was still alive, then what had been the point of everything she'd done?

"Butler, are you sure you're not mistaken? Is it really Paisley?" Paul asked urgently.

The butler nodded repeatedly. "I'm sure, it's the young madam. She drove here herself."

With the butler's confirmation, Paul smiled, but as he smiled, tears began to fall.

When the gate of Vanderbilt Manor opened, Paisley drove the car straight into the yard. From a distance, she saw

Dominick running toward her. She chose to ignore him and drove directly toward the house. Dominick stood

there, watching helplessly as Paisley drove past him. The mud kicked up by the car even got in his eyes. But he

didn't care about the pain in his eyes.

Tears streamed down as he watched her. It was really her, it was really her, and she was still alive. "Dom, are you

okay?" Julian had been scared out of his wits, as Paisley's car had passed so close to Dominick that it almost ran

him over.

Dominick nodded his head, continuing to chase after Paisley's car. Paisley drove the car straight to the front of

the house, parked, and got out. The door to the house was wide open, as though waiting for her arrival.

The butler and the Vanderbilt family members were all gathered at the door, and upon seeing her, they were all

filled with excitement.

"Paisy, you're alive! That's wonderful!" Julian said.

"Paisley, | was so worried! I'm so glad you're okay!" said Kayla.

"Paisy," said Reginald.

"Mom!" Grayson cried as he rushed over and hugged Paisley's legs. "Mom, you're not dead. That's great. Mom."

With no expression on her face, Paisley pushed him away and ignored the Vanderbilt family members. She

walked straight inside, her gaze locked on Marissa the entire time. This was the real reason she had chere.

"Paisley, you really are lucky to still be alive!" Marissa yelled hysterically at Paisley, not realizing the danger that

was approaching.

Paisley didn't respond. She simply stared at Marissa, her eyes as cold as a predator's locking onto its prey.

Finally, the Vanderbilt family members and Marissa both sensed something was wrong with Paisley, but it was

too late.

"Paisley, what are you doing? Don't cany closer!" As Paisley approached, Marissa kept retreating until she

had nowhere to go, unable to retreat any further.

Paisley remained silent, grabbing a glass vase from nearby and smashing it over Marissa's head. With a loud

crash, the vase shattered, and Marissa's head cracked open, blood flowing down.

"Ah!" Marissa screamed, feeling a warm wetness on her head. She raised her hand and touched it, only to find

her hand covered in blood. In the next moment, her legs gave way, and she collapsed to the ground.

Paisley didn't give Marissa or anyone else a chance to react. Without saying a word, she grabbed a sharp shard

of glass from the floor and aimed it at Marissa's heart.

Everything happened so quickly that the Vanderbilt family members couldn't react in time. They could only

watch helplessly as Paisley lunged at Marissa with the shard.

"Don't!" Marissa tried to dodge, but she couldn't escape. "Murder is illegal, ah!"

In her final moment, Marissa tightly closed her eyes, waiting desperately for the pain of death to come. However,

the pain she had imagined never came. Gasping for breath, she slowly opened her eyes, only

to be surprised to see a large hand had appeared in front of her, blocking Paisley's attack.

The sharp piece of the vase in Paisley's hand was perfectly embedded into the palm of that hand. A drop of

blood, one after another, dripped from the wound onto Marissa's clothes.

Marissa stiffly turned her eyes and saw whose hand it was-it was Dominick's.

"Ah! Dom! Someone, quickly, get a doctor to check on Dom!" Lauren was the first to react, screaming for the

doctor.

"Paisley, did you see that? Even now, Dominick still sides with me. He doesn't wantto die!" Marissa laughed

loudly, her face twisted with the madness and relief of surviving.
